Shawn was great. Despite the conditions and weather he went out of his way to meet up and do the return process. He was friendly and fast. He maybe the whole process easy and quick. We had a nightmare moving and Shawn and the drop off was the highlight, since he was in East communication, patient, and went the extra mile to let us return the truck. Highly recommended!

Check in and out online not fast or easy.
Nothing..! Manager was on top of everthing. Super accommodating and informative. Very busy in there but all customers were addressed professionally.
Pick up was scheduled for 9AM. I got a text at 8.30 from Shawn with a link and request to make the payment. I did that before leaving home. When we got there the store was closed and a note on the door was saying to call and then wait patiently until someone comes.. He showed up about 20 minutes later. He insisted on us checkin in online. We tried but my phone signal was low and it was taking a long time to load. He seemed upset and kept pushing me to continue checking in online even though I was telling him that the website is not loading due to poor phone data coverage and that he needs to be patient. Finally I finished the online checkin. He wasn't sure if the insurance was already included in the amount I paid earlier. After taking some time, he texted me that the insurance was included. After few other minutes he told me that I need to pay 89 dollars. I asked why. He told me is taxes. I told him that I remember seeing taxes included when I paid earlier...he got angry and proceeded to tell me that that's what it is and that if I want the car I need to pay. I told him I need an explanation, I need to know what I am paying for. He kept saying that is not his problem, that's what he is seeing that I still owe him 89 dollars. At that point I told him that i will have to call UHaul and get an answer, as he clearly doesn't know. He came out of the truck, locked the truck and left with the keys, telling me that I should get ahold of him when I am ready to pay him the money. I have to mention that this whole interaction took place via texts and a brief phone conversation, while he was in the truck parked a little further away from my car. (My car was parked right in front of the store) and it took about 50 minutes. I called the UHaul general contact number and a nice gentleman explained to me that i do indeed owe 89 dollars but it wasn't for taxes. It was for the insurnace, as that wasn't included in the initial payment. I paid and when back to the store to get the truck. I texted the guy telling him that he needs to come and deal with it with professionalism. He said that he doesn't have to help me because I was the one not wanting to deal with him. We picked up the truck key form the box and left without seeing or talking to him. It was an extremely stressful and frustrating experience, he was totally unprofessional, not knowledgeable and with absolutely no customer service skills. I felt stuck...with $1,250 already paid and dealing with a guy who left telling me to find him when I am ready to pay him more money...without telling me why I need to pay him more. 2 hours later we finally left with the truck.
Shawn went above and beyond. He was extremely helpful & polite. He helped me to ensure I had a smooth return. Thank you Shawn for your excellent customer service.
I reserved my truck for 10am. It was 11:40 a.m. when we drove away!!!!!!! I was converted to a on line rental. I had to set up an account & and go thru multiple steps my original agreement said I could avoid. I don't think it was just the location but I will think twice b4 I ever rent a U-haul again!!!!!!!!!
My online check in was cancelled and I couldn't pick up my truck until the next morning. Then it took an hour foer to get my truck
Ok, here's the problem. I arrived after hours to drop off the vehicle. I had no other choice as we finished unloading late, and I had to return to my home town that evening. I figured I'd drop the keys in a lock box and that was that. There was a young man there, who told me he worked for Uhaul (he was using a leaf-blower to clean the lot); he informed me that I had to complete the on-line drop off service. I was not aware of this. And, when I went to the UHaul website and attempted to complete the dropoff, the application told me that I had no reservation or rentals. Obviously, that's not correct. I tried calling UHaul but after several minutes of waiting, decided I had to get going. I was dead in the water. I pointed this all out to the young man who told me UHaul would charge me an extra $20 if I didn't fill out the on-line drop off application. I did make a full video of the vehicle in case there were any questions about condition, and I returned it with more gas than was in it when I picked it up (just over half full when I picked it up; nearly full when I returned it). I couldn't wait around as it was an hour back to my home, so I dropped the key in the lock box and left. Not happy with this part of the experience. And, if UHaul charged me extra, I've not been notified of that. Also, note that there is no sign on the UHaul door informing after-hours folks where the lock box is located. I initially dropped the key in the mailbox outside the door -- which seemed to dumb to me since the key, and thus the truck, could be easily stolen -- and then the young man informed me the lock box was on the side of the building (I retrieved my key). I wasn't the only one who made this mistake as there was a key in the mailbox already. That needs to be fixed.
The on line reservation system was difficult and time consuming. Ultimately the staff had to take time to re book the reservation. The staff was helpful, the on line application and app were basically a waste of time.
I had to wait 2 hours at the pick up location for the truck- not because it's wasn't there- it was!- but because the idiot working there couldn't figure out how to do his job. With at least 5 people waiting for their trucks, he spent over 45 mins sweeping out & cleaning the windows of a truck that was none of ours. He was totally inept, unwilling to help anyone & made everyone there pickup their truck with the online pickup, which we all did, but none of us could access the keys until he finally decided to acknowlege us & provided them. Then Uhaul stilled charged me for the 2 hours I wasted there! Totally unacceptable.
I made a last minute reservation and owner was very accommodating.
The Uhaul website allowed me to reserve a truck for a location that was not open on Tuesdays. A message was left after 7 pm on a business phone the night before the rental was planned, even though I made the reservation two weeks ahead of time. The staff member that was at the second location was clearly overworked and took his frustrations out on us.
Charged for a cleaning fee when the truck was neat and clean; blankets returned folded, etc. When asked to speak with someone in authority, they were contacted by the on-site help and it was related to me they were too busy! This is an egregious abuse by charging my card on file for this "cleaning"!!!
3 hours is a ridiculous amount of time to pick up a reserved and paid for truck. The owner was unprofessional, rude and purposely dragged out the process. He flat out said he wouldn't help fix a problem and that we had to call you but when we called we were told he was confused, there was no problem. And yet it still took another hour and a half to get our truck. He called my husband an asshole. He had 4 people all scheduled for 9. We were the only ones in the parking lot at 9 and yet the last person who could leave. Worst experience with any company we've ever used. You can improve it for the next customer by not over scheduling and not using this 3rd party.
The pick up location is sketchy and appears very unprofessional. The franchise owner is extremely unprofessional and belittling to customers. While we were onsite he was angry the entire time, taking out his anger on not only us but 4 other customers. It appeared his main issue was that we 'all showed up at once' (not true, but regardless I would think as a business owner you would be happy to see customers showing up). In addition it took more than an hour and 15 minutes for us to obtain the rental that had been booked weeks in advance online. My daughter had made the reservation and he was extremely rude towards her. The truck we were to pick up had not been cleaned and the franchisee gave us excuses that this was his Monday (although it was Tuesday) and the vehicle had been turned in over his weekend and he had not had time to clean it. Seems like if you were running a business and making money from clients you would do what it takes to deliver as promised and on time. Additionally we tried to reach out to him around 8 a.m. via phone to let him know some moving logistics were going to run us about 30 minutes late to the location and there was no answer at the site. When presented with this information he made excuses that his phone wasn't working. Seems like you would want a working phone at a business. I would never rent from this U-Haul location again and U-Haul corporation should be embarrassed to have a franchisee like this. I will make sure to let all friends/family who desire to rent a U-Haul know to completely avoid this location. What can be done to improve this situation for the next customer is to have someone from corporate do an audit of the location and franchisee and and revoke his franchise.
I have worked with the staff of this location before and always been impressed. Extremely attentive and easy to work with.
Sean was extremely nice and helpful. We had already gone to two other drop off locations before this one and were very upset. The first location we went to was given to us by U-haul. The address didn't exist. We were looking all around town for it. Then, we drove to another U-haul spot. This one turned us away because they didn't have any room. It has now been about an hour, have driven 20 miles between the Uhaul locations and are only about 20 minutes from closing time for the last location in the city. We finally got there, right before closing and were greeted right away. Sean took care of us quickly, despite him experiencing technical difficulties and we were on our way. If I could rate the other two locations, they would get 1 star, but Sean alone gets 5 stars!
The only guy working there was hostile and unhelpful and it took an hour for us to get our reserved truck even though we were the only customers there the whole time. Also the guy had a dog that has open sores on his paws and was definitely neglected. I will definitely never go to this location ever again.
When dropping off my truck and describing the issues I experienced, the person working at this UHaul only seemed to care about getting the truck to the person who was using it later that day, despite my insistence that the "Check Engine" light was still displayed as on in the truck.
Bare minimum inventory, unprepared for my arrival despite prior online check-in. Inefficient prep of equipment and apparently unfamiliar with optimal method for shortening safety chains that connect trailer to tow hitch.
They did not have a truck for myself or the woman next to me because one "didn't come in". We both had reservations. There definitely needs to be some change in how reservations work, because moving is no joke! Landlords need us out on a particular day or we face harsh consequences. They did eventually find one truck, so I shared it with the woman in line with me. I had to move her and then me in one day! Definitely stressful.
Shawn was very thorough in getting me set for my journey. I really appreciated his attention to detail. Highly recommend.
Appreciated the well-planned efforts to keep safety of customers and staff at the forefront. The boss was on top of things and did a good job on one of the busiest Saturdays If the year in a college town.
the biggest problem was the website issues. I invested about 2 hours in trying to reserve, make an account, check in, and check out and return. Rediculous.
This whole experience was incredibly frustrating. First, we had to drive 35 minutes out of our way because the place we had reserved the truck somehow didn't have it, and the truck we ended up with was smaller than the one I reserved. The after-hours pickup was a major hassle and took much longer than we had bargained for. The truck was dirty (sticky steering wheel was especially concerning in the time of COVID) and the passenger side door barely closed.
