I rated the rental drop off location as below average and the personnel as helpful only because the employees were generally nice and competent and hardworking especially Freeman Horne. This is not the case with the General Manager at the Flint, Michigan Miller Rd. Uhaul location. I am an existing storage unit customer at the Flint location. I have been since early last year. I returned back to a different state where I reside which is not in Michigan. Since last year I accumulated additional stuff such as clothes and more books. On May 21 I called over to Miller Rd Uhaul and asked about package signing and receiving. They were busy and a call was routed to the call center. I received a call afterwards which ended up in my voicemail from the Flint Uhaul location stating “ we do not offer this service.” I am not a voice analyst specialist but the voice on my voicemail sounds a lot like the General Manager’s voice which is the recording one finds when one calls up that store. Needless to say the lady who left her message stating that they do not offer this service did not identify herself. Over the past year I accumulated three additional boxes of books, two suit cases of clothes and a couple of shopping bags of miscellaneous items. I decided to ship these items by way of U.S.P.S., which the book shipment rate would be $60 plus the two other boxes of miscellaneous “stuff maybe an additional $120. The two suitcases would have traveled with me at no additional cost via Greyhound for $150 one weeks advance ticket purchase. Package signing and receiving “if available” and ultimately I determined it was available after all today when I enquired from several employees including Alex who was in charge of trying to get me one month free storage. In my estimation, package signing and receiving would have cost $50-$100 for the cost of my packages. Also I took pictures of two signs advertising package signing and receiving at the Flint, Mi drop off location. One sign was a price list under optional services and the other was a sign advertising that we can sign and receive your packages which includes the logos of UPS, FedEx and U.SP.S. So instead of shipping my packages to myself and then taking a bus to receive them and putting them in my storage unit with an estimate cost of around $400-$450 I had to rent a 10 foot truck one way costing me for the truck rental alone $735 and when I add in the $200 or more that I spent on fuel plus one night spent in a hotel for $82 I spent in excess of $1000. I spent an additional $600++ needlessly. All I was looking for and I would have called it even and forget my financial loss was to obtain one month free storage. Alex informed me that this offer is for new customers only, not existing customers who already have a storage unit. I asked Alex if they offered package signing and receiving, he answered affirmatively elaborating on the logistics of it and confirmed by other employees there. I explained that I used j

We came in an entrance that we thought was for the U-haul (but actually turned out to be only for storage - the biggest uhaul lot we have ever seen!) and thought because it was a holiday weekend no one was there so we went to the back of the lot to park the truck and leave. We went looking for a drop off box and found the entrance to the U-Haul rental portion of the business and the guy went bezerk because we left the truck in the back of the lot. So we had to go back and try to back it out of the corner and then he went even more ballistic because it was taking us too long to carefully try to back out the truck. Needless to say - his behavior didn't improve and he's the U-Haul God and only he knows how to drive a truck. We had noticed that there was something wrong with the front end of the vehicle while driving and wanted to report it - but after the way he drove it around that parking lot & his attitude some other poor customer is going to find out the vehicle will be needing a repair. Love your company and your vehicles. This one site will not ruin our life. Just won't be working with them in the future.

Part of the reason we rented a U-Haul (or any box truck for moving) was to have a ramp available for easy loading and unloading. The truck we received did not have a ramp (10' truck). We planned on running some heavier items with the truck; counting on the ramp to help. Was unhappy not having a ramp. Wish I had known the truck didn't come with a ramp.

Two things: there were 2 employees on site. One was working. If 2 were working, we might not have been in line for 35 minutes. The second thing is that you could actually have the truck that was reserved. We'll, and a third thing, when you then send customers to a different location, you could make sure that a one-way truck is available. And as to the Redford location, I couldn't figure out who even worked there--bunch of guys in t-shirts--no identifiable employee--standing around talking and when I asked if there was an employee available, one of the guys said, "you straight." I said, "i beg your pardon?" And he repeated, "you straight." Am I supposed to know what that means? I just stood there, looking confused, I'm sure, and one of the guys who was apparently visiting said, "he work here." I complement Alex at the Miller Road store-he was terrific. But the overall experience was a real stinker.

Made reservation on line when I got to store truck was not there, and I did not receive a call the day before to notify me of this. I had to go inside to get truck even though I requested on line. They had to redo my info. I felt like it was a waste of time to do it on line when I had to do it all again ay the store.

We wanted to rent at 8pm & set it up that. Craig went up there to buy some boxes & was told he need to get it now that it was going to close at 7 so then we had to rush around next day. It took almost 3 hours out of us
