Although I have rented from U-Haul numerous times my last experience by far was the worst I rented a one way for 288 miles through the mountains in a truck that would not go more than 30 miles an hour uphill it cost me $165 in gas approximately 50 gallons to get there which roughly is 6 miles to the gallon never again!!!

Calls to the Jacobs Ave. location are re-routed to a "call center" elsewhere, and so there is essentially no way to talk directly with the personnel who rented the equipment.

I made a reservation for a trailer on teh 17th. When I went to pick the trailer up on the 29th the trailer had been rented out to someone else earlier on the 29th. Whats the use of making a reservation. Also the trailer lights stopped working. The trailer was an old beat up trailer. It worked but wasn't in very good shape.

Way to expensive. Very surprised at the price. Then I had to go bigger truck even though I had reserved weeks ago. Bigger truck was harder to find parkibg and scary on hwy 199. Then was not shown cab where things were like wipers lites. Not told my drop off location would change. It would gad been nice to know.

Corporate rules the employees must follow make the experience horrible. Despite making a reservation via telephone, it took me 50 minutes to just finish the reservation. Offering insurance for a storage unit is almost compulsory, as then home owner's insurance is asked for. Who I'm their right mind is going to have that on hand! It caused was just one thing that caused the whole experience way too long! I feel sorry for your employees because customers are already under stress then your company makes it much worse with all the nonsensical information you require that may cause customers get any with you employees; I know I did and then apologized to the hall helping me. My friend who works there is going to quit due to some of the corporate rules. He is A GREAT EMPLOYEE no matter where he works, so it is your loss. I will give negative input to anyone considering going to U Haul for a truck out s storage unit. I don't consider the owner (a very nice man) or the employees at faul, as the were following corporate rules on the areas of dispute.

My contract stated I was to drop off the trailer at the DAVIS, CA location and they REFUSED to accept the trailer! The DAVIS u-haul was extremely rude. I was instructed to drop it off at the WOODLAND, CA location next, who also REFUSED to accept the trailer and again was very rude. I was then instructed to call the regional manager, Kyle, who again was extremely RUDE. I was then instructed to drop off the trailer at the WEST SACRAMENTO uhaul and the manager of that u haul was very nice. I was not comped the extra gas charges for having to drive to another city, even after my contract said I would not have to, and when I asked for an additional day to return the trailer because of the additional travel, I was told I would be charged for an additional day! HOW RUDE and ILLEGAL it was for u-haul to breach their contract with me and refuse to honor their agreement that I made when I picked up the trailer. Honor any contract made with a customer and comp the customer any additional charges they have to endure to when u-haul breaches the contract. I could have taken this to small claims court and sued over the issue if it had not been during the Christmas weekend.

At no point in time during the reservation process or during the pick up process was it made aware to me that I was renting an "in town" trailer. After using the trailer to travel almost 10 hours away, I was only made aware of this fact when I went to return the trailer and am being charged double the one-way fee, which is almost $500.

I'm in the middle on this question. The young man who help me was efficient but lacked in customer service skills. I was frustrated with the system for returning the vehicle with gas at the level that we received it. It was at a 1/4 tank. How is anyone supposed to plan to have a specific amount of gas in the tank. Go back to the full tank method it is so much more reasonable. When I mentioned my frustration regarding this the UHaul worked looked at me like hw wanted to punch me. It wasn't personal and he should have known that and acted based on that. It is nice that UHaul has his loyalty but you may have lost a customer because he isn't customer oriented. Additionally, the truck kept flashing the message that the truck needed an oil change. It was have been less stressful for me if that had been addressed before I rented the truck. It was not a great experience. The truck also had some suspension noise that was equally disconcerting.

Truck was a bucket! I’ve driven over 100 of this trucks over the past 8 years and they need to be more mechanically maintained. Truck was mostly clean except for the ramp, the ramp was filthy.
