I made a reservation that was confirmed and I chose the service where I do self-check-in and self check out. When I arrived at the location and I started the check-in process using the app, the vehicle wasn't and the location specified in the picture. So, I had to go inside the building to speak to someone. When I told the representative that the vehicle is not at the location where it says on the app, he asked to see my phone and I complied. He did something on my phone and took me so somewhere else in the parking lot and heading me the key. When I checked the back of the van, there were no furniture pads and dolly as requested in my reservation. I went back to speak to him and he told me there were none at the location and I'm not charged for it. I had to go to another U-Haul location to pick up the pads and dolly. Again, when I return to the location, I followed instructions on the app to check out so I went to the parking lot to park. While checking out on the app, a representative came next to the window and ask me to return the vehicle to the front, which I did. He did a walk-through and then told me I'm good and I will receive the contract in an email. While in-vehicle on the app, I saw that the contract was closed with furniture pads and a dolly, the same items I was told I won't be charged for. I went back to the representative and he told me to call the next day which I did. They told me that my money will be refunded within 3-5 business days. Long story short, there is no self check-in or checkout and I think that confuses the employees when a customers uses that service.
If reservations are made then the contract should be acknowledged. I had to do everything all over when I arrived at the uhaul.
The pickup took a while, it appeared they were short staffed with only 1 gentleman working the counter. On the return the gentleman was extremely helpful and professional.

It would be nice to have the person behind the cashier to have a clear view of who comes in and it would be nice to have a direct view when you walk in with the person behind the register. You have all these boxes blocking the view right on the middle of the floor and those can be moved along the wall. That bothered me

Only problem: slowness to check truck in when I returned it.
I had no issues with the location or pick up. I did my reservation and pick up through my phone. Everything went smoothly from pick up to drop off.
I am a firm believer in customer service and from management (Jeremy) to team, I feel at home when I come in for a rental. The feeling you get at UHAUL of East Orange is unmatched and I can say that this is my go-to place for truck rentals.
Don't need to improve anything just continue the great customer service that you serve to our community.

I Loved this service it was fast and the attendant was very clear , he explained every thing in detailed , I will be using this service again.
This week everything went smoothly. There is only one employee when I come in before 7:30 AM, but he got me on my way quickly. Ditto for return
Explain the return details, i.e. receipt will be emailed to you and you don't have to come inside after return if you do not have questions
Everything was good no complain
The truck only had 2 problems that were relatively minor: the driver side seatbelt was not working and the turn signal did not automatically turn itself off after turning. Everything else was fine. The pick up/return was seamless too which was comforting.
1. Previous user left a broken bulb inside. It is very dangerous, so it would be great that U-Haul staffs can check such issues. 2. Are staffs given instruction regarding what to do for COVID safety? I thought staffs are required to wear masks in any business these days.
