Overall the location was fine. Parking was not ideal. (i needed to leave my car behind while i used the truck. the only space available was where my truck was so i had to juggle both vehicles to park my car.

Jeff NI booked my U-Haul over the phone, firstly the guy I booked with said there’s a free storage unit rental for a month and I told him I’ll never use it. He said well if you don’t use it that’s fine it’s just there if you want I said if possible please don’t put it and he said oh it’s fine it will just be there just in case. I was tired so said fine. Then all follow up was through the U-Haul app, I was picking up a small hitch trailer specifically and the app gave a time initially that was inaccurate so I called and they said it would update. It updated and when I got to the pickup location it was a gas station the lady working there knew nothing about U-Haul and there were no U-Haul workers there. Also when I initially called I asked if I could purchase a ball hitch for the trailer as we didn’t have with us and would need for pick up they said yes but when I got there no ball hitch, really backed us up for time bc we had to drive to buy the hitch for the car. We got back, hooked up the U-Haul the lady in the store gave us a card for the U-Haul rep for that location, I will say the U-Haul rep was nice and very responsive and I’m very thankful bc had I not had him to call it would’ve been even more of a cluster eff. So we pick up the trailer and get back to load up and the U-Haul rep calls and tells me the trailer wasn’t essentially like checked out, and if I can send him a picture of the trailer hook up to the car and give an emergency contact, like I said thank goodness he was so nice and helpful! I explained to him the app (which was all I had to refer to) had zero information, didn’t guide you to next steps, nothing, and the rep told me about half of U-Haul renters say the same that the app is very not user friendly and doesn’t guide you so people don’t even know the stuff needs to be checked out or taken pictures or any of that. I had also previously checked in and filled in emergency contact but figured it didn’t register. When I got to the state for drop off I had to call bc the app was still showing return to the other state and they told me just call a U-Haul store to return. Just the app threw me off yet again luckily the return was easy just nothing or nobody specified the location had to be a U-Haul corporate store to return a trailer and there are not many of them. I really think U-Haul should have their people working even at these gas station pick ups, I mean what happens when people drive off with no pictures and the trailers improperly hooked up or connected? Makes zero sense to me. Lastly, I spoke with direct U-Haul one more time to make sure everything was all set, and the lady mentioned the storage and I told her I’d never use it and the last guy told me it would just fall off, she said oh no it has to be removed or you’ll get charged then she asked me if I told the guy I spoke with first that I’d never use it and I told her yes and she acted like he should’ve removed it then and she was quiet and kind of went oohhhhhh, so basically U-Haul corporate was pushing those storage units on their workers to make more money somehow, when what U-Haul should be focusing on is them! And renting trailers trucks etc to move stuff, get that right first then think about adding the other crap. U-Haul can’t even get my trailer rental right but they force some dude phone worker to add a storage unit on my acct for couple extra bucks. These companies problems now are they try to dip into everything more money more money and they lose all their customers bc they can’t even run their main business properly, and wonder what happened where’d we go wrong? Does it really take a thousand dollar research project to figure this stuff out? Also about 2 days after I booked the trailer pick up with that guy it confused the heck outta me bc I got a text with a link to U-Haul saying get ready fill in your information, I think it’s for the trailer I reserved, when I looked closer nope! It’s for that stupid storage unit, good thing I was reading the fine print and noticed something looked off. You can do better U-Haul , please do.
