This trailer needs to be retired. The straps were very difficult to work (age), there are running lights out, the brakes occasionally locked up (when not loaded with car), and the trailer is beat up. The staff didn’t ask if I knew about features of the trailer like the fender tilts to allow for car exit (although I knew about it). That said, I was not happy that the only trailer they had for my reservation looked like a piece of junk and I didn’t have time to make other arrangements.

When we booked this uhaul over the phone I gave my credit card and was told I would be charged x amount of dollars. Before pick up I called to ask questions and was told they did not take card information over the phone. I would like to know if there was miscommunication or who I gave my card information too. Other than that overall pleased with the service.

You need to have more parking spaces. The staff was excellent from the first phone call to the pick up to drop off. You have an average rating because of the parking alone. It needs to be improved. We have found numerous locations in Iowa have this same problem of very limited parking for customers. You only have 2 spaces.

We have used the Urbandale location for a couple decades and the employees are always fantastic and easy to work with. On the downside, attempting to get into and out of this location is horrible as it is so cramped. Yet, it is one of the bigger U-Haul rental places in the DSM area. In addition, the U-Haul equipment has also been around for a couple decades and appear in very sad shape (lots of rust and dents all over). And, although they appear to be very clean on the inside, the floors and walls are very oily and dirty. We have learned to put a huge plastic drop cloth all over the walls and floors and duct tape to U-Haul so items don't end up with this oily dirt all over where they are laid within and then brought into a clean home or facility. Out of all the U-Haul locations in this area, the Urbandale location is the favorite.

Fuel gauge does not indicate which side of the vehicle the gas tank is. Would be nice to know prior to pulling into the gas station. Also was not a fan of the locked items to rent stuck in the back of the truck. The dolly made it hard to get the last row of items into the truck and took away vertical stacking space.

Uhaul has stolen over $900 from my debit acct. For a 1 day rental returned on Aug 15th. The 800# cust service reps dont know what they are doing. I've been hung up on 3 times. They refuse to route my call to the local branch. My eft's are bouncing and they are causing me 100's of dollars in fees, affecting my credit since one of those was my car payment and still no one at the company will deal with me to fix this problem. I arrived to pick up my trailer with the wrong size of ball hitch. i had to go to a auto parts store to get the right size. When I returned the trailer, i noticed a whole wall of hitches for sale. The needed part was right there for sale, but never mentioned or offered

While the staff was very friendly, the process took nearly 30 mins to check in, even though I had already filled in the express check-in information online. So I lost the first 30 mins of my timeslot because the staff wasn't sure how to do things and there were only 2 people working with several people in line. Overall, the location is understaffed and poorly trained. However, they were very friendly and apologetic.

Inspection of vehicle was not done before I ride on it. When I asked for the same, it was done, but nobody come with me and they asked me to put comments if I see any existing damages. After reading comments, employee came out to inspect vehicle. Also when I asked how to release parking breaks etc, employee helped, but not with smiling face. Vehicle steering needs servicing. Vehicle was not getting started smoothly with turning keys. They kept my assigned vehicle on exit which was blocking another vehicle for another customer for check-in, so that customer used abusing language to me for not removing that vehicle from exit. Since transaction was not completed due to pending inspection etc, vehicle was not assigned to me completely. Overall very bad experience. But I was very satisfied with my first u haul ride in last month
