Representative was not upfront about the costs of the UHAUL— paid more than expected. Further, the employee who processed my information was rude, condescending, and not knowledgeable on UHAUL equipment. I’ve been dealing with the UHAUL company for so long and never received this type of treatment. I might consider Budget next time if that means better customer service!

My expectation was to rent a storage unit at the drop off location and then drop off the truck. My associate who was driving separately arrived at the unit first. We had emailed a reservation and received a response saying our unit was reserved. I understand that the actual units are not managed by Uhaul but Uhaul still has a business relationship with the storage unit company. The building was closed at 2pm for business, we arrived late in part because we received our equipment late. Calling their emergency contact only further added to the stress of the day that began at your Clark Avenue location. The unit's representative was rude and ultimately told us that we were not welcomed at said location. Eventually, I was able to find a unit for my truck load of items. Going back to the drop off location we tried to follow procedures but could not due to little cellphone reception. If Uhaul is to ask customers to self drop off it needs to ensure that customers have a means, such as free WiFi, in order to follow instructions. I gave up that evening because I was utterly defeated. The one good experience I did have was only good because of the end result. I called customer service and a representative told me that it is common practice that self checkouts are double checked for accuracy. This was comforting insofar that my truck would be properly taken care of however, it now seems redundant and wasteful to have customers go through this process after a long day moving. It goes to show that Uhaul would make its customers waste their time.

The truck we picked up had a broken wooden railing in it. When we loaded a couch, the broken railing punctured the end of the couch, leaving a big hole in it.

Explain the return policy... i was told to just drop my keys in the orange box... I didn't realize there was a whole process with photos I needed to do... so I had to go back and do that.

Please know this review comes as I am rating U-haul in general. Well, I communicated with this store on Friday and advised i might pick it up Friday before they closed, otherwise Saturday morning around 9. The response was that was fine. I got there a little after 9 on Saturday, didn't see the ring bell for service, knocked on the service door to get the young ladies attention, she promptly advised me there is a ring bell for service sign on the desk, no hello, how are you, thank you for using U-Haul. So we were off to a great start. Not sure she smiled once and mentioned I was late and we got into the discussion between the 8am time she thought I was to be there and the conversation I had with the employee the night before about 9am. I wasn't going to have any extended discussion at this point with the young lady. She got me my truck, asked me if I needed help backing it out, I said no, another patron helped me back it out to avoid poles and other patrons/vehicles at the store. Returned the vehicle with what I thought was 1/4 tank--which I though was fine, only to be charged $22.53 (about 9 gallons I would assume) for gas from EZ GAS and a $30.00 fill up fee. Needless to say I didn't think this would happen.

The owner had a rude and unprofessional attitude. Plus, the policies were not clear as to how much I would be charged, and charged me for two days when I had the equipment for less than 24 hours.

I believe the sales person needed more training. He was EXTREMELY friendly. And very nice and provided excellent customer service. The issue was with training. I already had done everything online for this rental. He restarted everything and I ended up being double charged. I originally set up a 24 hour rental he changed it that I would have the truck back by 1:30 pm the same day. So when I returned the truck at 2:30 pm I was charged for 2 days. I was credited for the charge, even though I feel I wasnt fully credited, u Haul credited the second day and the insurance I purchased. I just felt he should have just been able to click the name and do a very little amount of input of maybe a scan of my id and just go. I was very concerned when he started redoing the whole rental agreement. Again. He was extremely friendly and provided excellent customer service but his rental training could be improved.
