I had the hardest time finding a uhaul site to return the trailer. Everyone said they were full and couldn’t take the trailer back. I went to five different sites before I was able to return the trailer. Very frustrating driving in heavy traffic in a unfamiliar state. I was very close to just unhooking the trailer along a road and telling uhaul where they could find the trailer. Shouldn’t be that hard to return it especially after being told I could return it at any uhaul site. Hey uhaul, why don’t you here people who move equipment around to different sites to equal things out. Really not my fault one site or another has to many trailers in it! I shouldn’t have to burn a tank of gas looking for a return site! Was I pissed? Yeah you could say that!!

We rented a hand truck here when we got to our house. Not only did they lose our receipt of the hand truck when we returned it, but also they told us to put it inside of the rental truck when we return that and it will all be handled. A week later they called us and charged us because THEY lost the hand truck and didn't have the uhaul anymore to check inside for the handtruck.

Every one was great and process was easy. Truck, while clean and functioning, in horrible shape. Drove over 200 miles and dropped truck off at different location. Worse 200 mile ride of my life. Truck vibrated constantly, bounced all over the road. Seats were VERY uncomfortable and the seat belt locked in preventing leaning to look into side mirrors. Got about 6 miles to the gallon and could only keep up posted speed of 70, when going downhill. Had to keep am/fm radio turned all the way up to be hears over interior noise, but the speakers were so distorted at that level, it wasn't worth listening to. My truck had nearly 140,000 miles on it. Time to retire or overhaul it.

I made my reservation for your Matthews location, I live in Matthews and you made me go to Charlotte to pick up the truck, 40 minutes wasted on the road, when you have a location 5 minutes from my house. This was hands down THE WORST experience we have ever had with moving. I will say this, that the actual owner of the E Indep. location was very willing to help us, despite the fact that nothing on his end could be done he said, when our Uhaul broke down half way to our destination and Uhaul customer service representatives were extremely rude to us. One of the reps forgot to call the tow truck for us and we were stuck for hours, at night, in an extremely bad area with our family and large dog. Thank goodness we are OK! We were to meet the tow truck driver the next morning and he was 1.5 hours late. I called him and he said he totalled my husbands vehicle. They avoided us and treated us terribly. Seemed they were avoiding us for months afterwards prior to settling. No one knew anything. Thank God this nightmare is over! Never again..

I will never rent from uhaul again. My first order was at the matthews-Mint hill location in matthews nc. That order was moved the day before pick-up without notifying me by either phone call or email, so when I arrived at 5:30 am my order was not there. I called the help line and someone informed me that it had been changed and sent us to a second location. The second location was off of Monroe Rd in Charlotte. They had never received the order, or just did not bother, so when I got to that location (now very late to meet my students) it said that my equipment did not exist. I called the number listed at the bottom and talked to the only bright spot in all of this. The manager of the second location, Lafayette, was helpful even though I woke him up before the sun was up. He informed me that the order had not been prepared, and found yet a third location. There was actually a truck at this third location off of Independent in Charlotte, but I was now even later to meet my students. We were stuck at this last location for a while because the self-check out kept stalling at the approval page. I noticed someone inside, and Lafayette who was still on the phone with me, instructed me to talk to them to see if they could speed it up. This was the manager of the third location. His name also started with an L, but I can’t remember it. If you’re interested in knowing it my husband wrote it down. He acknowledged me long enough to tell me they don’t open for another 30 mins, and then very pointedly ignored me and would not respond. That is unacceptable behavior. I’m a teacher, it doesn’t matter when a kid comes to me with a question, if it’s outside of my hours, I’m there to help. This was only 30 mins before they opened, he should have come outside to talk with us, or let us inside to hear what the problem was. Finally it stops stalling and we are able to get the truck, which by the way, was almost out of gas and we nearly ran out getting to our destination a mere 11 miles away. I rented with U-Haul because I’ve always heard they were a trusted brand. The truck should have been given to us for free for all the struggle. I had student waiting at a sark empty school for me from 6-7:15. We were nearly disqualified from the contest we were headed to and needed the truck for, but they took pity on us for trying so hard. U-Haul has proven itself to be far inferior to any truck rental service I’ve ever used. This was absolutely unacceptable and it is ridiculous that after all of that I still had to pay nearly $100 for the truck. We’ll never use U-Haul again.

Road work on Independence Blvd basically allows exiting facility in only one direction and lack of turn lanes to u-turn is inconvenient.

I felt as if the customer behind me was more important than me. Through the entire transaction of me renting a trailer the employee was talking and asking question to the person behind me. The trailer was discusting on the inside as well.
