I rented a trailer a month in advance to pick up in Dundee. The day before I was to pick it up. I called and they told me to go to Bolingbrook.il to pick it up. I said you better find one closer to Dundee as I am not driving all over. They called back in ten minutes and said they have one in Cary, il. I took it. Point is, a reservation means something..and I would use them again as they fixed there mistake a.s.a.p. Dan

Did not help what's so ever,only had 1/8 gallons told them that they said sorry we don't put gas in the trucks so I barely made it to a gas station Absolutely filthy inside had to wait outside in the rain could you can only fit one person inside!

Contract number: 23645210 I picked up the trailer just before the facility closed. I asked if the gates would be open after they close the office as I had just received a call from my wife that my youngest daughter, who has a seizure disorder, was having seizure issues at home. After I arrived home, my daughter was having some major seizure issues and we spent a few hours on the phone with her neurologist. Due to her medical issues, our plans needed to change, so without even opening the trailer door, I drove it back to the facility, completed the paperwork with the drop off time and left it where I picked it up. The trailer was never opened or used. When we saw the charge on my account, I contacted customer service to explain that I had not used the trailer, and was asking for a refund. They said I would be contacted by a regional person by phone to resolve the issue. I was never contacted by phone, but received an email stating that there was no way to determine of I used the trailer or not, no refund would be issued and here is a coupon for future use. I again called back to customer service and explained the situation again and again asked for a phone call to resolve this issue. The 2nd customer service person saw from the initial call that I had requested a call, but received the email instead and again opened the claim stating I wanted to talk to someone about the situation. Again a few days went by without being contacted. I called back a 3rd time to customer service to follow up and there was a note in the system stating that U-Haul would not do anymore than the coupon, but I was never contacted with this information. I had to call back to follow up! On this 3rd call, I again asked for a telephone call to explain the medical issue around the situation and again I have not been contacted. I have rented from U-Haul multiple times over the years, both trailers and trucks and never once complained about the service, pricing or experience. I had a medical emergency with my daughter and asked for some compassion and a refund, but I cannot even get a return telephone call. I was told on the 3rd call that someone had tried to call me, but on the day it said the call was made, I did not receive any calls from U-Haul. That day I did receive calls and voicemails from the doctor's office, but I have never been contacted directly by U-Haul as I have requested a minimum of 3 times. I have no issue with the facility I rented the trailer from, but the corporate customer service has no authority to support an outside of the box request and the follow up from the people or person responsible to handle this does not care about their customers and cannot even take take 5 minutes out of their day to follow up. Even though U-Haul may have the best rental rates, I would rather work with a local rental business that has a management that cares about their customers and can respond to medical issues or when life intervenes in your plans.

The lady who checked us in (I wish I remembered her name) was very helpful and accommodating and helped us out with the mileage issue which was a direct result of the change in pickup location. She was very friendly, made a phone call, and took care of business!

I was notified at 7:05PM, the night before I needed the rental truck, that the location for pickup, had changed. It was a 60 mile round-trip from my requested location (Grayslake, IL). Then U-Haul charged me extra mileage for having to drive to this unplanned/out-of-the-way location. Very, very unprofessional. Both U-Haul dealers were outstanding and professional despite their higher headquarters being so unprofessional.

Needs to keep dogs of of the reception area and bothering customer. Also needs to organize this desk and work area to give the impression it is a professional place of business. Is a little difficult to see in advance of road until a rental truck in driveway is seen then it is too late to stop. Have to drive down the road and make two (2) U turns to return to the driveway.

1. U-Haul asks where you want to rent from, but will not honor that request. I had to travel 18 miles to obtain the truck even though there is a U-Haul facility much closer to my house. 2. When picking up the truck, I was asked where I would be unloading what I was carrying and U-Haul considers that the destination address. Since I was taking my belongings to a storage shed, I was not prepared to provide an address for the storage shed. What does this matter to U-Haul as long as I have the truck back when promised at the location I committed to drop off the truck at. 3. The 26' truck does not ride like a van as advertised on the side of the truck. It truly rides like a large truck.

The check engine light came on while we were driving it. We were not sure why. We informed the manager when we returned it. Otherwise, there was no problem. Easy check out and check in.
