I was given the wrong trailer and had to return it the next day. After returning it for an exchange I was charged for a day. It's been 6 days and I am still waiting for my refund for that day as agreed by the owner.

I give my overall experience 1 star. I was not informed at the time of rental that there would be a street closure the night of my return, which would prevent me from accessing the U-Haul drop-off location. I had to go drop it off at another U-Haul facility, and although I called customer service, and spoke to the U-Haul personnel at the other facility, who both assured to me I was properly returning the U-Haul in time, I was still charged a $20 fee. I have called U-Haul multiple times in the past 2 days to sort the issue, and I was still not assure my money will be returned to me. To me it’s plain simple: if you don’t return my money, I will NEVER rent from from you again. NEVER!

They gave me a truck that had gas below the 1/4 full mark, didn't explain to me that there would be extra fees if the truck was returned below the 1/4 full mark if it had more than 1/4 tank full before the rental (on top of the fee if you returned it without filling the gas to wear the marker was before), then they falsely accused me of lying when I told them that the fuel marker was actually below (not above) the 1/4 full mark when they gave me the truck. They showed me the sheet of paper where they marked the gas level with a highlighter, and of course it was slightly above the 1/4 full mark. They said that I should have taken a picture of the fuel gauge in the beginning, but 1) I wasn't even notified of the extra charge rule if you returned a truck below 1/4 tank (if the tank was above 1/4 tank full before) 2) I didn't think they would blatantly lie to me like that. I guess this is how this uhaul location makes their revenue. Will never return and urge others to not use their services.

Not only was the size truck I reserved not there, but NO trucks were there. Only vans were available. I understand that August 1 in New York City is a huge moving day, but when I reserve over a month in advance, I expect to get what I ask for. I kindly asked if I could a break on the mileage or any other cost because we would have to make multiple trips with a van, was immediately and sternly told NO DISCOUNTS. I then asked if they could call the other nearby location and was told they weren't picking up the phone, so they wouldn't bother calling them. What a joke of a business being run by someone who doesn't care that there's a human on the other of the transaction. I've had great experiences with all other U-Haul locations in the city, and will be sure to go out of my way to never rent from this location ever again.

Your truck had horrible alignment and shook all over the place. The Passenger side mirror fell off the track when I closed the door. The latch on the back got stuck when the rolled up. Something at that clearly happens by the looks of the interior of the roof. I have to pry it loose to close it. I will NEVER EVER you again!

Finding the office was a challenge given the entrance was hidden behind two large trucks. The wait times in their tiny hot office were also suboptimal. The only thing not making this a “poor” experience was the cat.

Not sure if there is anything that can be done, as it seems the location itself was mostly responsible for the poor experience. The employees that I dealt with were very helpful, patient, and nice. That said, it was difficult to find the place, I had to back the U-Haul out of a narrow corridor, and it was totally unclear where to go and who to talk to when i arrived and when i came back to drop the truck off. Also, the vehicle's check engine light was on.

When walking from the 9th Street F train station, the entrance to U-Haul is invisible. You will see a U-Haul sign on a fence, and U-Haul trucks behind the fence, but if you go down that drive and follow the fence looking for the entrance you will not find it. It is actually farther east on 9th Street.
