Don’t show vehicles if they’re not available. Waited 2 hours of my day.
Ermiyas GRay was kind and helped me quickly check the truck out and, after I was done with the move, also check the truck back in, which was fantastic. Thanks so much!
JOYCE KThe truck was clean, but, was old
KARLENE BThis is getting a low rating because of the very poor U-Haul app and website experience. My qualms are not with the store itself, but heed caution if you’re relying on U-Haul’s app to work with them. There’s no good way to communicate with U-Haul's IT staff, so this review will have to do in hopes it draws their attention. I made my reservation on the website 3 days in advance, which included furniture pads, a furniture dolly, and a utility dolly. Within minutes, I received what'd be the only email confirming my reservation, and it didn’t include the estimated subtotal. (My reservation on the website had shown this, which of course excludes gas and mileage.) At that time, I and other users were locked out of our accounts. IT resolved the issue the next day, at which point I rechecked my reservation, which still had the equipment selected. I called U-Haul the night before to confirm the exact reservation location (it wasn't clear on the map or streetview) and the ID verification process during check-in, as my reservation (at 6 pm) began an hour after the store there closed at 5 pm. I also asked where the furniture pads, furniture dolly, and utility dolly would be; the agent said in the truck. The check-in process on the app was a bit glitchy. After submitting my verification info, the Continue button didn’t recognize me pressing it. I didn’t refresh, as that would restart me at the beginning. I re-entered the info a couple times, and it finally allowed me to proceed. Only 1 verification was needed, as the app didn't even let me enter 2 verifications. This made the email misleading, as it said, "Additionally, be ready to provide a minimum of 2 of the following [verifications]". Then, the major problem arrived: none of the equipment was in the truck. This wasn’t the location’s fault; it was the system’s fault for somehow removing the equipment I had selected in my reservation. This threw off the moving process, as my friend and I were loading and unloading the truck with a large drum set, large wooden file cabinet, and 2 large tables. We had brought bubble wrap, 6 bath towels, cardboard, and wire (to tie the furniture into the truck wall's wooden panels). But without the furniture pads and dollies, that cost us a lot of unnecessary aggravation, lifting, and time. Furniture had to be carried hundreds of feet, and a lot more time had to be spent protecting it in the truck. Check-out had a minor and major issue. Minor: When I needed to type into blank fields, the keyboard would obstruct the field, so I couldn't see what I was typing without closing the keyboard. Major: It allowed me to dispute the charge (rather than pay then) and said I’d get a response in 24 hours. I submitted my dispute. But I was charged without a response a few days later. I was shocked at the unprofessional interface I experienced from such a renowned company. I’ll mention the positives. After seeing the lack of equipment, I called U-Haul to give them a heads up on the missing equipment and to confirm I could return the truck past the reservation window (midnight) – the agent confirmed I could. During check-out, there was a dumpster on site, so we could put our trash there. I didn't have to worry about my car being towed in that lot, even after midnight. All the personnel on the phone were professional, friendly, and sympathetic. And one of them communicated my dispute to a manager, who promptly issued a partial refund. I hope U-Haul takes a serious look at rectifying the tech issues I mentioned.
