When using a tow dolly, insist your car be put on squarely and not let your tire hang over the edge. I tried to get them to let me reposition my car, but they said it was ok. Insist on repositioning your vehicle and don't take their word that it's ok and secure. It's NOT! My car shifted during transport and one of the chains was put on too tight. The garage at my destination had to come out and remove the bolt that held the chain to get my car free. Also they had no knowledge how to set a manual transmission vehicle and told me to put it in neutral. Went 30 miles and wheel strap came off on one side. I called the dealer and they told me to put it in 1st gear to lock the front wheels.

The person behind the counter was very busy with customers and she then noticed that I was holding the receipt from where I picked up the vehicle and she said, "Are you dropping off?" I said yes and she said just hand me your paperwork and I'll e-mail you the final receipt if that's OK with you? I really appreciated even though she was so busy, she got me out of there after two long days of travel and loading really quickly. Thank you!!

I booked online and chose the "save 94 dollars by choosing a different drop off location" option. I chose a location to drop off in Sandusky versus Port Clinton. Unfortunately, this location couldn't figure out how to honor that and had to charge me over 100 dollars extra. Very disappointed.

Do not rent trucks from this location. My truck had three mechanical problems--needed jumped, idled rough, and billowed smoke from the tail pipe. Only a tiny refund was offered, and I was told that smoke from a tail pipe was 'normal.' Obviously trucks are not kept in good repair and customer service is not a priority.

Don't take phone calls on personal phones during customer interactions. Have a cash drawer ready for cash payments. Have staff in the office and available. Have proper signage for your location if you are not in the office; a piece of paper with small writing, pinned to a chair is not adequate when people are in a hurry or even more to facilitate good customer service.

I knew that it would be tight bringing the trailer back at the 3pm time frame and called ahead to let them know. I was aware that I would be charged for another 24 hours, but I'm just commenting that I would appreciate it if U-Haul could look into pro-rating overages. I would even be fine if the charge/hour would exceed the regular 24-hour rate.
