Had no issues with this uHaul location - equipment was ready when we arrived. Everything explained to us and we were off to move our items. Returned two hours earlier than scheduled, again no issues returning the truck.

This location is very convenient and easy to get to. They have lots of room to drop off equipment. It seems it’s sometimes hard to find someone at the desk as all we need to do is tell them we dropped off equipment and they get the number off it. I’m a little fearful just leaving it. This time I got s call about 6 days or so after I dropped off as it hadn’t been reported as closed on my rental. I asked that some call or text me to be sure it’s all ok but never heard. Today September 5 I just received the survey for this rental.

I put in an order to pick up a truck at Hampton, Iowa. The day before I was moving I got the news I could pick up the truck in ANKENY, 100 MILES AWAY FROM HAMPTON. NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!! Then I was told there were no appliance dollies at Ankeny and we'd have to get them in Ames or Hampton. When we looked in the truck, there were already appliance dollies in there. The people were very nice at this location, but I was extremely annoyed that I had to pick up the truck 100 miles from where I needed it.

Location closed by noon on a Saturday. Seemed off to have such short hours on a weekend. Used online pick up app, and was missing 1/2 dozen blankets I ordered. No one around to correct.

This entire process was awful. Even after making a RESERVATION, I was unable to pick up my requested truck at my preferable location. At the location I went to, the truck wasn’t even available. Then I was unable to drop off the truck at the requested location. I had horrible customer service. Overall I will not be using this service again.

Their review is more about the extremely poor customer service by “Jeanne”, reservation manager in Des Moines. Having a contract that states “Drop Off Location” in Ames Iowa should mean Ames Iowa and not a different city 20 miles in the opposite direction of or destination. Jeanne was confrontational and said she “was the highest person and did t have a higher level manager”. I was simply appalled with her attitude and lack of skills and comment “oh my God” when I asked for a discount because of the extra 40 mike drive (round trip). She was argumentative about the drop off location and destination - saying that it didn’t mean Ames because the street address wasn’t provided. As a VP of sales for an international organization, I travel and rent frequently - Jeanne was the poorest experience I’ve had in years.

The time of pick up and length of reservation was not as requested and we were rushed and stressed during our move. We did not get the moving dolly that we requested, and only got half the moving blankets that were supposed to come with the truck. During our move we had to keep track of the giant cardboard advertisement that went in the windshield during its “off time” which was absurd. Only good thing about the rental was getting the $50 credit for not getting what we requested even though we also had to drive an extra 20 miles both ways for picking it up instead of getting the truck from the location around the corner from my destination. This added an unexpected $30+ to our expenses. I will not be recommending uhaul to friends.

My rental experience was frustrating but not because of this location. They were very helpful and it was easy during pickup. Shortly after my pickup I was called and told that I could not drop the trailer off at the location that I had scheduled. This was a major inconvenience and I had to drive an extra hour (30minutes each way) to drop it off. This should have been communicated to me before rental confirmation and pickup, not after I already had the trailer.

When I pulled in they said they would check me in and that I was good to go. When I got my bill I was charged for an extra day of rental because they didn't check me in for two more days

No one was there at my reserved time. When someone did finally arrive I was told there were no furniture pads even though I had reserved 6 and had received confirmation that the pads would be there. Eventually pads were found. This location needs to work on customer service.

The UHaul rep at the counter was efficient and courteous- got me on the road quickly the morning of my rental. I mentioned that I had a long day ahead of me and would be returning the van around midnight. He suggested that I just keep it over night and that I could return it early the next morning before he opened his doors. Bless his heart!

I've used this location before and it's sometimes hard to get their attention as they have other work to do. But they always say they will get the contract closed. I think the contract had a different trailer number than the trailer I picked up but if that is true I only noticed it when I was dropping it off. I left them a voice mail after I dropped it off explaining the situation Tuesday night. The trailer was due Wednesday mid morning. I got an email Wednesday morning asking to fill out the survey so that told me my contact was closed correctly. I really like this survey form by the way.

When you schedule a specific time frame don’t change it a week later and force your customers call 5 times to get it fixed

We are so grateful to everyone we worked with in Iowa for our Uhaul rental. They had the equipment we requested. I spoke with them beforehand to make sure they had what we needed. Upon arrival, everything went so smoothly. Thank you so much! The only problem would be with the central reservation system and statements that they could not confirm our reservations. We had a limited time period for moving and needed the equipment we requested. Contacting the specific location is the only way to make sure all goes smoothly.

I am furious that my reservation was to pick up in Ames Iowa and upon your confirmation call I had to travel 25 miles one way to Ankeny Iowa to pick up the trailer. The location was "junky" and not well kept. The attendee was very nice and cordial.
