Booked the van, and checking in online. Had to then spend 40 minutes in line waiting to pick up the keys, which then cut into my reservation. Huge waste of time.

We arrived two hours late for the reservation and the girl was passive aggressive about it and said she already made another reservation for the same truck so we are lucky she didn’t give the truck away. I explained we got held up as we live three hours away and aren’t familiar with the area in which uhaul referred us. It’s not really what she said it’s how she said it. I was in hospitality for years and I think it was just handled poorly. I, as the customer, was not aware that I had to call if I was going to be late. The confirmation emails and texts showed we had the truck from 10am Sat to 10am Monday and I put down a credit card. If it’s that important there should be a note on either notification that you are liable to lose your reservation if you are late. At the very least try calling the customer to ask if they are on their way. I think YELP and customer reviews are often unfair and exaggerated so I try not to leave bad ones but It seems like some customer policy changes are needed to make the experience better for the customer and the uhaul partner.

Normally I get high quality vans from this location. This time I came in an hour early to pick up van. The van reservered for me hadn't been returned yet and they didin't give me the van they had for some reason. They told me to comeback an hour later. I returned still no van so after waiting 1.5 hours they gave me the van that was parked out back. I didn't really care it was filthy but they have just given me it when I first came in instead of making wait so long to give it to me.

The 15' truck I reserved two weeks in advance was not available. The agent said he rented it out the day before because that customer had "promised" to have it back in time for me to use it. After 30 minutes on the phone not making eye contact with me she hung up and had no solutions. The only truck available was a 10' truck with tire light problems. Because of its smaller size, I had to make twice the trips, therefore, utilize twice the mileage. The most expensive part of renting a uhaul is the mileage. So I spent twice as much as I should have because of some dumb agent. They didn't even apologize, or acknowledge the fact that I was being screwed on the day of my move out. Do they think my landlord would just let me wait a day past my lease end date?

I'm not sure if this would be an issue with the specific location or U-Haul in general, however after making an online reservation I received a text confirming to pick up a cargo van for a one-way trip to San Francisco at 10:00 am. When I arrived at this location, a sign on the door read it wasn't open until 1:00 pm. I called to arrange another pick up location, however they said they would have a cargo van available at 1:00 pm when they opened. After changing my moving plans and coordinating with the people who would be helping me, I agreed. Upon arrival at 1:00 pm I was told they were over-booked and did not have any one-way vans available in stock and all available vans could not be dropped off in San Francisco and would have to be returned to this Walnut Creek location. Further, this location does not have a key drop off box, meaning I would have to load the van, drive to San Francisco, unload the van, and drive back to return it before the location closed at 4:30 pm. Otherwise, I could drop the key off the next morning after they opened at 8:30 am, which is when I would normally be at work. In San Francisco. Needless to say, the entire experience was a huge hassle, waste of money, and required re-coordinate moving schedules and take time away from my job. Never again and I'd recommend steering clear.

My first reservation was not honored due to lack of equipment and my reservation was moved to Oakland without my knowledge. My second reservation for a different date worked. People struggle with online registration because it is very vague.

The location was convenient. Truck was not clean. Windows could have been cleaned before it's rented to the next customer. Service tire light was on. Not sure how long the light had been on. Employees were eager to close up and go home even though they had 10 mins on the clock..

The dolly was extremely cumbersome and difficult to manover - very heavy and top heavy - I had to ask several times to have the uhaul employee come outside to inspect the van that I had hired for condition; mileage and gas usage. Not cool!!!

The only issue was that there were not enough employees to process my return of the truck and thought that my card would be declined and no one was able to finish my check in so that I may present a new card for payment hopefully it's not declined but the gentleman behind the counter said I would receive a email on how to correct it so above average is how I rate them other than that it's excellent because trucks were available
