Called to confirm 5-days prior. Was told at that time there was no record of my rental. Called U-Haul head office and they confirmed the reservation. It was not until later that evening that Simcoe Food Mart confirmed reservation. The night before pick-up I was called by Simcoe Food Mart that the truck would not be ready until 10:00 AM when it was booked for 9:00 AM. I stated that this was unacceptable and that the reservation was over 1-month old. Simcoe Food Mart stated that they would open their store at 9:00 AM but if I wasn't there by 9:05, they would close until 10:00. Very poor customer service. I would not recommend this location to anyone. Mark Arnett

My U-Haul truck that I rented from a Brantford location was not brought back by the previous renter. I had to find my own truck in a town 40 km away. The new truck had to be returned to the location I picked it up from. This was a huge inconvenience because where I picked up the truck was about 150 km away from where I was moving too. The location I was able to rent he truck from is in a town with no public transportation. I was told that U-Haul would not cover my costs for transportation even though this situation was not my fault. I was offered a discount which resulted in about 50% savings on my original booking price for my troubles. This whole experience was awful and I do not think I will be using U-Haul again as this is not the first time I've seen something like this happen. The 8 Queensway E location is not bad, this was just a very bad situation.

My gas was only 3/4 full to start but I was expected to fill to full when returning. I told the u haul person this but they didn't seem to care. Also I had to rent a u haul 30 min from me when there was a u haul in my town. I spent a hour driving more than I should have. I expect beteeen filling the tank which was only 3/4 full and the driving to Simcoe and back it cost me a extra 80 bucks at least. Not happy about that

As per our rental agreement we were to pick up the truck at 8:30am to begin our move. We arrived on time only to find that the variety store where the Uhaul rental is located did not open until 10:00am. We tried to phone the store but no one answered. We contacted Uhaul customer service & were told that we needed to complete the Online Check-in. We tried to do that, however, we were given an error message. We had no choice but to wait an hour & a half for the store to open at ten. By this point we were very frustrated. The store owner was very apologetic. The store was not at fault. We feel that Uhaul was at fault. Our contract stated that the pick up time was 8:30 & we also received a text message that morning stating the same. Uhaul should know the opening times of their locations in order to better serve their clients. This delay only caused more stress to an already stressful day. Other than the late pick up of the truck our experience was good and we use Uhaul again in the future. The store clerk was very sympathetic of our situation. We appreciate all that she did for us.

The location opened later than stated. The vehicle smelled. The gas level did not agree with what was stated on the contract and the meployee refused to come out to verify. The site was closed (sign saying "Be Back Soon" when I brought it back), however they had the nerve to say that I brought it back late, and charged for an extra day! Also: I paid for a 4 hour rental including 150 free km. They charged me for the kms!

There was a smell of animal all through the truck, which he told me about when I got there. Also, there was 1/4 tank of gas for which I was told I have to return the same. When I was "cashing out", I told him that I was just under a 1/4. He told me that was not acceptable-had to be exact. I told him that it is next to impossible to know exactly how much. He went out and checked the gas gauge. I was wrong-it was actually close to a 1/2 tank. He told me that they can not give money back in that instance-he figured it was about $6 or $7 dollars more than 1/4. Thats a very unfair system-quick to demand money from the customer when it is a little under but not so quick when it is significantly over-not to mention the fact that by only giving it to the customer with a 1/4 tank vs a fill-up, chances are that the customer will be wrong in the amount of gas he puts in. Thats quite a "system" stacked against the customer.

The worst experience ever!!! A word to the wise before renting any Uhaul from the convenience store location at Wendy's plaza in Simcoe, Ontario. Make sure you take pictures of everything, like we did. He will try to rip you off!! We put in over the amount of gas that was supposed to be replaced and they were saying that there was not enough in there. Our pictures proved that we went over the amount that was needed. He was very unprofessional and would not give me a breakdown on what I was paying. My husband asked him again after I asked him twice and he kept saying I'll charge this amount to your credit card. I said NO as I wanted to pay cash after I seen the breakdown. Finally, he shows us and tries to scam us for paying for the Uhaul for two days!! We had it for exactly 23 hours and 58 minutes. Not even a day! After rectifying, he charges the credit card when I told him NO, I have cash. Then he would not give me my receipt!! We will NEVER deal with that location ever again!! Uhaul was great as they gave me a copy of my receipt through my email as he wouldn't give me a copy! I would of given this place no stars but they're lucky they get one, not by choice!!

I arrived to pick up the truck that I ordered for rent and it wasn't there although they did have a smaller truck to take , it still didnt make any sense that it wasn't there .I also ordered an appliance dolly that wasn't there for pick up which made what I had to move very difficult .I had a confirmation that my order was ready for pick up so something in your rental system isn't working properly

I had requested one way and drop truck off at destination. Twice I had confirmed with sales person this at which she acknowledged that was the case. I was quoted an inaccurate amount regarding ttye mileage. She had also failed to notify the Walkerton location as she had considered this rental "local" which again I had stressed to her it was out of town. The U-Haul rep in Walkerton was helpful and supported me the best he could once he called his local rep for assistance The truck was in very god shape My brother in law had also rented from U-Haul over a month ago and was satisfied, however I cannot give a fair grading due to my experience and extra costs due to difference in mileage charge I feel it would be fair of U-Haul to reimburse me the extra mileage charge to appease customer service

We arrived after it had snowed the night before. The path to the trailer was not cleared at all, and neither was the trailer. We had to dig the hitch out from the snow, and then proceeded to fight with the bolt to tighten it to the ball on the SUV, as it was frozen and someone before had loosened it all the way. I had a reservation for the trailer so they knew there were customers to pick up. A good business would have checked the conditions of the property before clients take posession. The lady at the counter of the convience store was slow, and would take other customers in between taking my information. Absolutely will not rent from this location again.

I rented two different trucks on two different days. The first one was a 26 foot which was very difficult to drive out of the parking lot due to being parked in a small space with very poor lighting in the lot and many obstacles to get around. It was also very difficult to park. I feel I should mention that I am a truck driver with 15 years experience and if I found it difficult, I'm not sure how the average driver would be able to park/get the truck. I also had a fuel discrepancy with the owner/manger who hadn't checked the gas (maybe because it was too dark to see as I picked up the truck in the evening?) when I dropped off the truck. The second truck I rented (2 days later) was a 20 foot truck. This time the owner/manager tried to rent me a 15 ft truck and insist that it was a 20 ft. truck. I actually had to get a measuring tape and measure the truck to prove the one he was trying to rent me was only 15 feet!! And than after all that, when I returned the 20ft truck he tried to charge me for a 26ft truck!

First trailer hitch was broke, so had to change to a different one. No jack stands so not sure how one would expect someone to hook up alone? Needless to say 1 1/2 hours later we left. Was enroute on Saturday and had trailer brake issues light in vehicle kept coming check brajes on trailer, got out to find right side of trailer was hot to touch and smelled burnt. Called uhaul number to see if we could swap out the trailer with issues for another one in London as that was where we were located at time of issues. They flat out said NO, had to send someone out. We were on a tight schedule and did not have time to pull over and sit along highway. Needless to say didnt want to take a chance and load trailer and be stranded somewhere with it, so we drove over 2 hours back. Needless to say I was still charged full. I am not happy at all after the long day we had already!

I would suggest parking the long trucks in a driveway for straight in and out and put the short trucks in the awkward parking lot.
