It was very hard to find a parking spot near the market. I had to drive in circles for about 20 minutes as there is no dedicated spot for the van to go and very few street parking spots that are large enough. Also, when I picked up the truck the key was not in the lock box but was instead in the store - a minor thing, but why could the key not just have been where it was supposed to be? It added on a few more minutes to pickup in order to straighten it out. Finally, the whole system for picking up the van and verifying my identity was inconvenient. I wish I had been warned ahead of time that uhaul would need to contact two additional people to verify my identity in addition to my license and photo. It took a while for me to call around and find friends/family that could answer a phone call from uhual while at work. If I had known how much trouble this would all be I would just have gone further out of my way to pick a van up from an actual Uhaul location.

When I rented the van online, there was nothing that indicated that it was a self-pickup location. So when I got to the location I expected to be able to pick up the key and had no idea there was a full process that needed to happen before I could use the van. Also, the person inside Stewarts market was extremely unhelpful and was not at all interested in helping me figure out this issue - the only thing he told me was that I should have a lock box code and if i didn't then there was nothing he could do for me. I was able to reach someone at uhaul on the phone (after an extremely long hold time) and they explained the issue. Then once I was finally able to go through the online process to get the key, when i got to the final step, which specifically instructed me to open the lock box on the passenger side of the van, I opened the lock box but the key wasnt in the box. I then went back inside the store, just to find out that the key was sitting inside the store behind the register the whole time. The whole process to get the van took me over an hour, which is completely unacceptable. Then, when I brought the van back to the location, it was nearly impossible to find parking and again the person inside the store was not at all helpful. I am extremely disappointed with this uhaul experience and will not be using uhaul again.

Our our pick up was delayed due to a issue with the self serve system. We had to redo the reservation process inside the corner store- which was very helpful but we were frustrated that our reservation pick up was not as smooth as we thought it could be.

Most aspects of my experience went very well. The self serve pickup experience was easy, the van was clean and in great shape. However, there is no parking lot at this location and so upon bringing the van back I learned that I was expected to find street parking for it. San Francisco is notoriously difficult to park in and this is an absurd thing to require of your customers. It is seriously ridiculous. Lesson learned, I will not rent from a uhaul location that does not have reserved parking for it's own vehicles ever again.

The service must be absolutely polite and respectful to the customers, and this is not an option!!! When a client made a reservation ahead of time the truck should be there when he or she arrived at agreed uopn time!

Nazir, is a very nice, courteous man. He is the owner of the grocery corner location. However, the computer system he uses (either delays on his end or... on your end) takes a very long time and causes a long wait.

I booked the truck for 5:30 & wasn't given the keys until 6, then was told that even though I'd booked it for 6 hours, I had to have it back by 11. So I only had it for 5 hours. I rushed and got everything done, and upon my return the uhaul agent told me that I had to find a park for the truck. In San Francisco. At 11pm. Interetingly, even though I google mapped the route which was 31 miles in each direction, and did not divert from this route, I was charged for 90+ miles. During the pick-up and drop-off, the uhaul agent wasted over an hour of my day. He was unfriendly and would serve his corner shop customers instead of finishing our transaction. I will not be hiring from this location again, and am very dissatisfied with the transaction overall.

Van was filthy and could barely see through windshield. Tried washing it at gas station but couldn't reach center so visibility was terrible and I had to drive at night. Interior smelled like smoke and there were sunflower seeds all over floor.

Our appointment to pick up the truck was at 9. We weren't able to get the car until 9:40 due to the location. Then, the online process to the return the vehicle did not work.

I was quoted $20 for the rental and was charged $80 by the time all the fees were added. I would have chosen a different option had I know it was going to be so expensive.

I used a needle width of gas - the gauge went from just over 1/8 to 1/8 For this I was charged an unreasonable extra $50. I will be more likely to choose an alternative to uhaul next time

There should be saved, designated parking spots for the Uhaul return. Luckily we were able to find a spot after some time, but if not...would we have been charged for the mileage of driving around looking for a parking spot? Also, we were not able to leave the key in the drop box because we were not given a code at the end of the rental period. We were forced to give the key to the liquor store attendant. I understand you also need to photos of the person driving and the license, etc. But Uhaul should request the prep work done BEFORE the rental period begins. Having to wait for a live attendant to verify is very frustrating and slow. Wasting time during rental period.

All was great - the parking situation was slightly confusing, in that there didn't seem to be established parking for the trucks.... pretty much street parking for returning the truck.... which seemed a little too informal... I returned the truck to the nearest available spot

The return process was not streamlined. Upon arrival, the business rep asked why I had not returned my van at 3 pm (my deadline was 5:30 and I was at the location at 3:30, so actually two hours early). Then, I asked what the return process was and he said I should check the mileage and gas myself and we were good to go. I took a pic of the mileage/gas and then asked a second time, "is this all we need to do?" before ordering my Lyft. He told me that he could generate a receipt but if I was good to go he could email me. At this point I called a Lyft to get back to my car. When my Lyft arrived, the rep starts adding tasks: he asked me to bring the blankets I rented inside. I had my Lyft waiting. I did bring the blankets, all pre-folded, in to the store for him. He asked me to re-fold the blankets and put them in a bag (??), which made no sense given the thin plastic bags the blankets came in were in the garbage at my house and he had never requested I keep them in the first place. At this point I said this is enough and my Lyft is waiting. The rep told me "this is a full-service business" and proceeded to charge me six dollars for a missing blanket that was not missing.

The uhaul was a little dirty on the interior. The representative should do the end walk through with the customer so that the customer isn't surprised by the final charges and to avoid disputes. Luckily there were none, but could have easily had discrepancies that are not easy to disprove.

I rented a 9 foot cargo van from the Sutter Branch today. I have been charged extra 9$ for gas. The gas readings are inaccurate. I have a picture with the mileage and the gas level reading. I filled up gas up until the point it was when I took the van. This is very unprofessional. I can send the picture proof. Kindly reimburse for the additional charges.
