The U-Haul customer service representative at this location was outstanding. He immediately informed me that the U-Haul software was not functioning properly and he apologized for the consequent delay in processing my pickup that he had no control over. U-Haul Corporate needs to invest in its IT and improve its software that their retail outlets need to use to service their customers.Stephen M.

The location itself was fine. My issue was with the online check-in process. I've rented a lot of UHAUL's over the past 25 years, including most recently 5 months ago, and have used the online check-in multiple times previously. This time, it was asking for a passport, a copy of my lease, a phone number to call my place of employment, or name & number of someone to call to verify my identity. I don't carry my passport on me unless traveling internationally, I don't have a lease and wouldn't carry it on me if I did (I now see that we were told to have these things at the very bottom of the confirmation email, but it was so buried I didn't see it when I got it), and I work in a seasonal field and my place of employment is currently closed for the shoulder season and even if they were open I was checking in before they would have been open. So, my only choice was to input an alternate contact. My parents are dead. I don't have a significant other, or kids. My siblings and most of my friends would not have been able to take a call at that hour, if they would pick up a call from an unknown number.. So, I had Think of someone who would have cell service at home (I'm up in the boonies), wouldn't mind being called early in the morning, and might answer a call from an unknown number all under time pressure since problems with the check-in (not accepting the alternate contact name & number online so I had to call customer service) meant it was already a half hour past when I should have been leaving. You need to make it more clear that you will need these documents with you (not bury it at the bottom of the confirmation email where it is easily missed), and/or allow trusted customers to bypass it. I've rented from you many times. I have always returned the truck without damage, clean, on time or early, and don't appreciate having my integrity questioned or my day sidelined. I am a strong, independent, self-reliant woman. I should not need someone else's input to rent a UHAUL for the day, especially one who doesn't even know that I'm renting one or why, The customer service person I was on the phone with put me on hold while they called the alternate contact to verify my identity with them, and then came back and said they had been in contact with that person. Turns out they hadn't called them at all. Next time I need a truck, I'm looking elsewhere.HEATHER R.
