The concept of self-pickup is great but, had a terrible experience with it. I asked reservation agent if there were any kinks with it and she did not advise of 15 minute underwriting. Need to fix app experience if renter shows up after reservation time. Had to figure out to call uhaul and sit on hold for 10 minutes. Overall, added 1 hour to my day.

Location was closed for staff meeting on day I reserved. Was able to do mobile checkout but did not get vehicle I reserved. Price that appeared was double what I had initially signed up for. Had to spend 45 minutes on the phone before I could get moving.

I moved on 7-28-18. The entire weekend moving process with U-Haul was a disaster. First, I ordered a queen size mattress bag online to pick up the day before I moved (this was the Gilbert location, although my truck reservation was the Marburg location). I had paid for it in advance and the site said they had 32 in stock. When I went to pick it up on 7-27, they didn't have any in the store, even though I already bought it, they never fulfilled the order. Their best solution for me was to make me drive all the way to the West side (I was moving on the East side) to pick up one from another location, they gave me a hand-written note to give the store manager to ask for this product. I said no way, I got a refund and went to a Life Storage on the East side, luckily they had one there, but I just lost an hour of my day. Next, on 7-28, I went to the Marburg location to pick up my truck which was reserved for 9 am. The store was closed. Again I went to a Life Storage, she was able to track down the employee who was supposed to be at the other store. By that time, it was 10 am. When we arrived back at U-Haul there were 4 people in line ahead of us, and they gave our truck away. So we had to wait for someone else to return a truck. By that time, it was 11 am. I was told I would get $50 credit because of the "reservation guarantee" policy. Next, I got an alert from my bank because I had been charged for the truck but I never got the credit. I thought, great, when I returned the keys, the employee never put in the system that I was supposed to get a refund, so now I have to sit on hold with customer service all morning. And that's exactly what happened. The woman who finally answered the phone said "who told you that you were supposed to get a refund?!" She said she would have a manager call me back. By late afternoon, no manager had called me. So I called customer service again, and gave them my reference number. The woman said, "the note said the issue had been resolved, and the manager wrote that he called you and spoke with you on the phone." I said no, no one spoke with me, and how inconsiderate that someone would lie in their report just because they are too lazy to call a customer back. She said the refund had been issued and to check my bank after the weekend. I did see the refund by the following Tuesday. In the end, I got my truck and my refund. But it was an incredible hassle on my part. All of the employees were cutting corners, between fulfilling my mattress bag order, to being late opening the store without notifying customers, to not issuing the refund without me having to call about it. I am never, ever using U-Haul again. I was absolutely livid about the entire ordeal.

I can't really blame the employee, because he drove down from Columbus, OH to Cincinnati, OH, to come work at this life storage location. My mobile app reservation didn't work because the truck wasn't checked back in. It took an hour for me to get my truck pushing back my already long day of moving. I felt I had to return the truck back down to the location increasing the amount I had to pay in mileage, because he had never done Uhaul rentals until that very day. So I didn't want to tell him I wasn't coming back because it had already been causing problems with getting me my truck. Then when I went to return my truck, I turned in the key to him. I did not think since I had to go in to get my truck I wouldn't have to do anything with the mobile app. Then I get a notice three two days later that I haven't returned my truck, because he probably didn't check it back in. So i had to take time out of my work day to be on hold just to talk to, thankfully the only helpful person I got to deal with, Jennifer a phone rep who took care of the situation for me. It is safe to say I am extremely unsatisfied with my experience, I had an extremely long wait, I had to over pay and I was almost charged with a late fee for a truck I had already turned in.

The desk clerk had no prior experience, so it took 40 minutes for him to process the two people ahead of me in line. Since this was first thing Saturday morning, there was an "angry mob" waiting by 9:30 am. Could not even "wait" in comfort because bathroom was out of order. You need to allow time to train newbies exp in advance of a weekend in late July, when people are moving into new apartments etc.

The place is supposed to open at 9:00. Guy didn’t show up until 9:45. I get in line behind 8 other customers. Didn’t get my truck until 11:00 when I was supposed to start moving with people who agreed to help at 9:30. The guy seemed sorry but not genuine. Also didn’t have my truck ready as he said he had to wait until it arrived. I was very disappointed and would like a refund.

The first turck i was assigned had a flat tire. It was clearly flat with a hole out of the sidewall. This is not something that could easily be looked over and should not have been allowed to be rented. The next truck that I got was completely filthy. Disgusting. It was the only other truck available so I had to take it. The Good - both times i called into Uhaul customer service, the representatives were very helpful and did a good job.

Let people know your store hours. Was not told No one would be working or open until I called the company. My bill showed an amount which is now showing a higher amount. No one at store when I returned truck to help checkout. Very unhappy about the different prices I was told. Not expecting to get an extra $40 charge.

When a customer reserves a truck to be picked up outside of business hours and accepts the notification to pickup the truck via mobile check-in, the truck should ACTUALLY be tied to the reservation so that the customer can pick up the truck when they arrive (hours before the location opens). It'd also be great if the person listed as the 24/7 contact who was listed as the person who could resolve my problem actually answered their phone when I tried calling 3 separate times (and never called back to apologize, even hours later). The 800 number I called to try to finally get customer service told me that I had 2 options, wait 2 hours for the location to open or to wait 3 hours for some center in Arizona to open and talk to them. Overall this was a horrific experience and caused me to start moving 2 hours later than expected when people were already at my house to help me move since I told them to be there a few minutes after I was supposed to pick up the truck I had reserved.
