Drop off location was a motor scooter dealership/repair business. Clearly, U-Haul was a secondary business. Person with whom I dealt was very helpful and handled dropoff quickly.

Make it clear that the user needs an app to pick up the truck and make the app work. I showed up for a truck reservation for 7:30am only to find the rental location doesn’t open until 10. After making ten of my friends waste their Saturday morning standing around with nothing to do, the rental location returned my frustrated message and said I could pick it up anytime, I just needed the app. How I was to know this is beyond me. So I go back to the location, the doesn’t work. I go in and ask for help and the employee can’t get it to work either. She edits my order for later in the morning (since my reservation was 3 hours ago by this point), and it works. I go through the incredibly frustrating app process (taking a selfy in front of the location’s sign? Really? That didn’t feel ridiculous) and get the truck. The return was fine, but man, I’ll never do that again.

I used the self service tool for the first time to pick up and drop off my uhaul and I was charged at the beginning of the trip for the rental and the amount of miles I thought I would drive. At the end of the trip the service tried to charge me again for the rental and the exact amount of miles I drove which was far less than what I paid for earlier, but I had already paid for it. I know that I had already paid for it because my card had already been charged.

The people from Burnouts (on Patton Ave.) went up and beyond my expectations. 10/10 on customer service, took the extra time on make sure I got a truck that day, and made sure everything was right. The reason I'm not using nor suggesting U-Haul to anyone every again, is due to the corporate side. I spent 3 hours trying to pick up a truck and trailer. I was splitting the payment with two card. First attempt one card went through, second didn't. Found out one of my cards doesn't do business with u-haul. Got cash off the bad card. Second attempt money from the card the went through was on a temporary hold. After many phone calls the lady from Burnouts found the money and sent me off with a truck.

Rep would not checking out vehicle. Had me do myself. Did not inform no loading ramp but talked me into $10 dolly. Scheduled pickup in black mountain no one called to say no truck available... I called Friday afternoon to verify. Supposed to pickup at 9.00 yet Patton Ave didn't open until 10.30 - again not communicated to me. Truck had damage when I picked up.

The parking situation was awful! The office was small and a bit shaby, and with only one computer, we had to wait a good bit. This was almost painful, as the bathroom was out of order, and we had driven several hours. Ha. The people, and service was wonderful though!

Get rid of the fake environmental fee. Those trucks get terrible mileage an it's obviously just a way to increase profits rather than make a commitment to being a greener business.

We initially went to a pick up at UHaul on Swannanoa River Rd in Ashville NC. They didn't find our reservation and were very unfriendly. They made a new reservation for us and sent us to Burnouts. We initially got the truck and came back after we loaded it for our our car tow. Once we got the car tow attached, the blinker on the tow didn't work. We waited and substituted the tow for another one. The blinker still didn't work. They weren't allowed to check the truck, which it appeared to be. They checked the connection to the tow, which appeared to be fine. They determined it had to be the truck, but "weren't allowed to touch it". They called the regional people who suggested we get a new truck, which was impossible as we had already spent several hours carefully loading. After another hour, it was determined I had to call roadside assistance so they could come out and check the truck, which I did. After that point, roadside assistance called back and gave permission to Burnouts to go ahead and check the truck. It was a minor issue of a loose connection under the truck which was easily corrected. That cost us 2 hours of a 13 hour drive time. Once we had left and got on the highway, it became clear that the passenger side mirror was not secure. We had observed some damage at inspection, but it would not stay in position. We had to stop along the way twice to purchase tape to wrap it up and keep it in place where the right side of the vehicle and traffic could be observed. This was extremely hazardous. It should have been detected when the truck was returned and determined that the truck needed to be repaired, which it was not. We did not call roadside assistance, as we had already been significantly delayed and with the taping job, some visibility was possible. Equipment should be inspected much better at check in and staff should have permissions to observe minor issues with the trucks should a problem be present which may be easily correctable. This was an unacceptable situation, after we had paid more than $1300.
