Please allow me to tell you how Uhaul (not this location, Uhaul Corporate) took advantage of me during this move, and how they did so explicitly and unapologetically. Let me preface this by saying I spent years working for a Uhaul dealer. I am 100% familiar with both the Uhaul process and the struggles the dealers face. My dealer was also in a rural, remote area. We often ran into instances where we did not have the equipment that was reserved and had to substitute into something bigger. What we NEVER did was make the customer pay for that. In fact, customers would get offered free miles or discounts to go pick up somewhere else if necessary. Something has clearly changed in Uhaul corporate culture because that is the opposite of what happened to me. I don't make a lot of money, but my dad died and the stuff has to get cleared out of his house somehow. Uhaul quoted me a rate, and then two days before the pickup date called to tell me I had to either get a 26' truck instead of the 15' I had reserved, or pick up over an hour and a half away (which would also cost me extra money). I was told this would cost me an extra $53. I was at work and busy so I attempted to reach out to Uhaul later to discuss it. I was told by a CSR via chat that normally upgrades like that do not incur an extra fee but that I had to talk to someone in scheduling. I talked to Aubrey. The first thing she said to me was that I was charged extra due to the change being a last minute request. I told her that was factually incorrect and that I was told the 26' was the only size truck available to me. She then informed me that her supervisor was the one who made the decision to charge me extra, and that the supervisor wasn't there, and that she herself was in fact in charge at that time. I explained to her my previous Uhaul experience, to which she expressed skepticism by repeating the phrase "if you worked at Uhaul". She then proceeded to inform me that decisions to not charge for forced upgrades is a regional one, and that due to supply and demand in that area, they were opting to force me to pay more. What she said to me in different words is that Uhaul was aware that I have zero other options given the fact that my move was scheduled in two days, and they were actively choosing to use that fact to squeeze more money out of me. It's unethical, and just plain soulless. Then they charged me $70 more at the point of sale. By that time, it wasn't even worth mentioning. It had already been made clear to me that Uhaul is only out to get as much money from me as possible, regardless of how they have to treat me to get it. So I hope that extra $70 lasts you guys, because it's the last you will ever see from me. I'll also make sure to tell everyone I know that Uhaul is a greedy company who takes advantage of desperate people who have no other choice. I can't leave my dead dad's stuff where it is, unfortunately. After I send this email, I'll be going and posting a review that says the same thing. I hope it doesn't end up on a specific dealership's page, but if it does, then that's what happens. So big thanks to Uhaul for kicking me while I'm down. Worthless piece of garbage company and I will pass my time in waiting rooms until I die finding public places to leave you awful reviews. This is the email I sent to the AFM and he didn't even respond. So I must conclude Uhaul doesn't actually care about what any of us think at all.

Rear bearings seemed weak (rear hubs got too hot to touch upon several inspections along the way) One or two tires has tread that was too low. Trailer was fairly clean.
Dakota K.TAKE THE TIME TO CHECK ALL TRUCKS FRONT ALINEMENTS, OUT OF ALINEMENT VEHICLES CAUSE EXCESSIVE FULE USAGE AND DANGEROUS. ALSO, YOU COULD GIVE MILITARY DISCOUNTS. THANK YOU.
eileen B.The main trouble is that U-Haul is just a side hustle for this business, and, frankly, for the location in Salida as well.
