I showed up to the U-Haul Moving & Storage At Jamil Rd and found out that the employees there worked remotely. There was no one there to help me finalize my move in account process (pay the insurance fee, be assigned a unit, get a gate code). I had to drive to broad river Rd U-Haul and set up the remaining move in process. I drove back to Jamil Rd U-Haul, the gate code did not work so I spent an hour on the phone with customer service trying to get it to work. Finally got inside and to my storage unit, to find that it had a lock on it. I called customer service again just to be told to drive back to broad river Rd U-Haul, get the key to unlock the unit and then would have to drop it back off after I was moved in. After retrieving the key, driving between the two U-Hauls facilities, I finally opened the unit (J500). The unit was filled with trash (molding food, clothes hangers, plastic bags and molding box's). I locked that unit back up, drove back to broad river Rd U-Haul, returned the key and asked for a clean unit. The staff helping me was super nice, polite and helpful and was able to get a new unit. I drove back to Jamil Rd U-Haul to unit J502 which aside from the ceiling so clean. The entire thing was ridiculous, unnecessary and ended up costing me time and money I did not intend to spend.
