The lady who took care of my paperwork for the uhaul I rented was very rude to me. The gas level was not what she had on this truck. The windows of the truck were not up all the way and it was raining. When I got into the truck and started it, it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. She made a comment that I smelled like smoke. I hadn't been in the truck before. I didn't get the womans name, but she was very rude and dishonest. She did not do a walk around with me before I got into the truck, so she had no idea what the previous renter of the truck had done to the truck. I would not reccomend uhaul at this location to anyone, and I will never rent another uhaul truck again. I will use Penske if u have a future need for a moving truck.

She was extremely rude and tried to tell us the truck was late. We actually brought the truck back a day early. When we tried to show her the paper documents to prove it, she didn't want to see them.

I booked a truck from the location .25 miles from my home a month in advance. 5 minutes after booking uhaul rep called and said there were no trucks at that location and I had to go across town to hershberger rd location. Also got email confirming this. On day on pick up I drove across town to pick up truck and the man told me it was not at that location it was at the location near my home. Got to that location and they had switched the 2 truck rentals for that day and had to fix, luckily they did have a truck. This process took 2 hours. Time I could have spent moving. It would have been nice to have a rep call or email the day before to tell me the rental location was changed back to the original location I wanted to rent from.

There was an issues with U-Haul’s computer system and it was very frustrating. It took the clerks at the rental store multiple attempts in entering the request, I even received messages from U-Haul that where incorrect.

At last minute, smaller truck was delivered instead. None of the moving supplies (Dolley, furniture Dolley, wrappings) were in the truck and I got charged for missing items( hopefully that will be resolved soon.)

first off i have rented from u-haul in the past and this was my worst experience. first it started when i call ed the 800 reservation line. the two reps I talked too were not concerned about my needs, they were only in it to get my credit card info and book the reservation. they were very rude and would not let me ask any questions until I told them to be quite so i could talk to them. the second problem was in vinton when i picked up the trk. the battery was dead and luckliy they had another truck. also i was not told where to bring the trk back to and had to call the 800 number.they had no idea why i was calling and was finally told where to return the truck. this info had been given to me upon leaving where i rented from. the place i rented from could not get the resv switced to the other trk until after i left and when i turned in the trk the person had no idea whet was going on. this is the last time i will be renting from you and you probably dont care , but my friends and family will.

The gas rate is higher than Uhaul on Hershberger road in Roanoke, thus my bill in Vinton at Winter's was more than Hershberger in Roanoke. I made 2 trips with each truck rental but had further to return the Hershberger rental but it was less. Not clear how this happened.

Fuel level was not accurate. She circled on contract but apparently did not enter into system. This location could not determine my drop-off location, it was not in any email confirmations. I could not login to uhaul website due to errors on the website. (Which started with reservation system errors that support had to be involved with - not a reflection on this location but on uhaul computer infrastructure).

Drop off location in another city was not arraigned to our satisfaction. First, at Pick Up location I was told to do it myself but I insisted that it was their job and they did it. Second, that Drop Off location was wrong and we had to drive another 6-7 miles to the proper one.

They rented me a van and asked me where i wanted to drop it off. I told them the same place I always do. Then they started caring on. I have used uhaul in 26 moves If I don't get my money back I will not use them again. I have another move in 2 weeks if they dont give me a refund. I almost lost a sale on a house I was buying along ways away because they were telling me I would have to take it back to where I got i. I told them it was not my mistake

Having hourly rates would be nice. Paying $60 for 2 hours and 10 miles of use seems pretty high.

The cargo trailer could have been cleaner on the inside. I noticed one of the amber covers on a running light was missing. However, the light still worked. So, I wasn't overly concerned. I would have appreciated a bit more turn around area. But everything worked out fine. The staff was very polite and accommodating.

Will not use Winters again in Vinton. One girl at location.....no one to help unhitch...........area not inviting or particularly suited to Uhaul........as she said it is storage units......just do uhaul on very side. Got truck stuck because I had to try myself putting trailer in tight spot. Was told I was out of luck,and had to pay a towing bill myself because uhaul would not do anything . Poor.....no horrible.

I would not recommend nor use this service again. The price it cost us was totally unreasonable. We only drive an hour away and was over $200.00. Next time we will make other arrangements. The rental rate is very misleading.

The two people who helped me were awesome, setting up the contract, getting boxes and blankets, etc., however they did not offer to help me hook-up the trailer, or show me anything about the trailer. Fortunately for me, I knew what to do, and I had my son to help me. But if my wife or daughter had come to get the trailer, I feel there would have been an issue, and possibly result in hooking up the equipment incorrectly.

I wasn't able to get a 20 foot truck but was told I could get a 17 foot truck. When I got confirmation it changed to a 15 foot and because it was the day before I needed to pick up the truck I had no choice. The 15 foot truck was not big enough and I had to call friends to load their cars. Disappointed

The lady at winters didn't know what she was doing first of all and I had to speak to many uhal reps to get my order in place. Round in circles for a week.Also I called winters storage and asked about renting a dolly she quoted me $10 , we got there and she said they changed the price from $10 to $12 . However, the U-Haul dolly had $10 and the sign in winters storage had $10 and also quoted $10. Not very good experience at all. Uhaul rates are expensive and I shouldn't have to talk to 5-6 different people for a simple truck rental after filling out form online.If you want to go more in detail uhaul can contact me.

Check engine light was on. Cigarette ashes in the try. Not very clean and didn't drive well. Was told it was a "for sale" truck. Reserved online and was never contacted by a U-Haul rep. I called to give an approximate time of arrival and was told I did not have a reservation. Luckily they had this old truck for me to drive.

I just rented a uhaul in June from a different location at .68cents per mile. This truck cost us $1.25 per mile! I will never rent from this location again, nor will I recommend it to anyone! I will however recommend that people do their research prior to being robbed blind for a truck rental!

I would like to preface these comments with the fact that your phone representative tried their best to make it right after informing me that my truck reservation had been CANCELLED without any knowledge or input on my part. She gave me a $20 discount and 200 extra miles on my contract. I made an online reservation for a 10 foot truck to be picked up in Christiansburg, VA and dropped off in Manassas, VA after moving our son home from his college residence. The schedule we had for the weekend was very tight: leave our home in Bealeton, VA and drive 3.5 hours to pick up the truck, drive 8 miles to his Blackburg, VA residence, pack up his things, and drive back to Bealeton hoping to arrive back home at a reasonable hour, since we had to move him to residence in Arlington, VA the next day. I received a phone call on Friday afternoon from MovingHelp informing me that instead of picking up the truck at All Service Electric at 520 C Depot St. NE in Christiansburg , we had to pick it up at Reed's Storage at 3397 Radford Road. When I drove the additional 15 minutes to Reed's Storage, there was a 10 foot truck parked in front of the location, but the owner/operator "Rick" informed me without any indication of concern that he had never received a reservation for me. Not only was he extremely rude and very nonchalant about my situation, he never rose out of his chair at any time during our interaction, even when his unleashed pitbull greeted us when we opened the door to his business. But even more disheartening was the fact that he never made any attempt to advise me of my options or apologize in any way. As I left the office in shock, I overhead him informing his associate that there were 2 customers scheduled for a single truck for the next day and he was curious to see how that situation would work out. It was then that I called the contact number from the previous day and reached the Uhaul representative who gave me the news that my reservation had been cancelled! She found me a 10 foot truck in VINTON, over an hour's drive away. By the time we drove to Winters Mini Storage 2445 Washington Ave in Vinton, VA and waited for the representative to return from lunch, we were not able to get our rental vehicle on the road until after 1:30 pm. Mind you, we still had to drive an additional hour back to Blacksburg with the truck to my son's residence. Instead of 3.5 hours of driving, I had by then put in nearly 6. Because of the 2+ wasted hours, we were not able to get back on the road before dark after packing the truck and got home around 1 am this morning.

It was not clear to me that unused boxes could not be returned at this location. There were no signs indicating where to leave UHAUL truck. It was not clear there were no free storage spaces available here for UHAUL customers and that free storage was only available at UHAUL "hubs" by reservation. I returned the truck 2 days later than anticipated but could not notify anyone about it except by email (and received no reply). It was not clear that I would be charged $85.00 additional per day and that additional insurance charges would be added. There are definitely communication issues between what one thinks they are getting when ordering online and the people at the brick and mortar locations supply. An employee at the call center called me before my trip to verify that I would return the truck on time and could not explain how much I would be charged if did not. I wanted to extend the rental days. She alluded to the possibility of undetermined excessive fees and as such, I could not not come to a clear agreement.
