Improve on pickup process, customer service should provide customer service and not hang up on people. Truck shoud be full tank when picked up not close to empty, over charging for gas prices should be lowered, never going with uhaul againLUIS M.

Nest time I will go to a location with a human attendant. I waited on hold with customer service for an hour because the app would not let me complete the return of the rental.Andrew G.
When I arrived my truck wasn't available and I was told to call customer service. After about 20 minutes on hold I was told I could only get a truck if I return it to same location, not a one way truck like I had originally booked. This was quite an inconvenience to me but I felt like i had no choice at the last minute.Nabeel K.

You had an employee tell me one price, then have me I intial and sign blank forms. Then when I left filled in an amount $1500 more than quoted. He said he could give me the good deal because it was a 1988 GMC. No one that I have called has believed me. I am calling everyday and contact all media in area I rented my uhaul I will go to court over this. I came to that store and mentioned my car was just totalled. I could not afford the $1500 they wanted for a rental car for 3 days. So Luis said I can help. I have a 1988 GMC at other location. I can let that one do a one way to Charleston area. Only truck he could give me the deal of around $300 + mileage. I was so grateful I hugged and thanked an employee who was out front at the time. Included with my receipt in the trifold was another receipt that had the $300 rate. Also u underneath was my real receipt for the $2 077.00. I have used uhaul over 20 times moving over last 30 years. I have never rented a truck zip could not pay for. Why would I start now at age 56. Either you guys realize you might have some scammers and crooks working for you and help me. Or I will spend every day contacting you and news agencies daily for rest of my life. I have nothing better to do. I am not paying that fee to a crook who lied to me, when I was in time of need. This location is hard to find and the photo of where it is, is inaccurate. My initial reservation had to be cancelled because there was no "pickup my truck" option. Then I made an on-the-spot reservation which took less time than I spent trying to complete my initial reservation. I spent more than half an hour trying to pickup my rental van which caused my move to happen later than planned.Gabriela G.
Only issue I have is I have not recieved my invoice in my email. Otherwise the entire process of reserving online, picking up and returning online was fantastic.Richard T.
The truck was dirty. I informed UHaul at the time of check out. I informed them again at the time of check in so that they could make sure it is clean for the next person -- and UHaul is trying to charge me a clean up fee! Now, I have to go through the inconvenience of disputing it!Brian T.
My reservation was for 9:00 am pick up 5:00pm return at a different location. You relocated my pick up location to one a half hour away and changed my pick up time to 4:30pm. After an hour on the phone, mostly on hold, I was offered an 11:00 pick up even farther away. At this point, I was already late meeting a large group of volunteers waiting to load our equipment. I canceled the reservation. I scheduled a new reservation for pick up at this location, for a smaller truck because that was all that was available. I arrived, began the mobile pick up and was not provided a key code, but in instructed to speak with someone at the counter. This location os unmanned and has no counter. After another 30 minutes on hold, I was informed the truck I had been assigned was not prepared form mobile pick up. I was reassigned a truck that was, which was the size truck I had originally requested. You're failure to keep the reservation I made, at the location I selected, caused me a 4 hour delay. If a reservation os made for a specific time and location, U-Haul should ensure that the equipment is there, rather than sending the customer to a different location.MARCUS P.
The pick up process took a full 30 minutes. I was asked to resubmit my personal and driver's license phots, but they sent me a totally wrong key box picture. The key box was nowhere near where the picture led me to look for it. The lock was extremely difficult to use. Essentially this location made me my own (unpaid) customer service rep. I like U-Haul but this location was very disappointing.Douglas F.

Not really a in person Uhaul like the website said it's just a bunch trucks in a parking lot with an abandon restaurant. Not very safe if you're picking up after dark. Since there was no one there checking out the truck took 30 minutes using their website. On top of that I spent 20 minutes oh hold when the truck didn't have the pads I ordered. Their solution was to drive to another location 30 minutes away to pick some up. Won't be renting here again.George D.

Received my rental with less than 3/4 full tank but expected to return with a full tank. Only went 29 miles for entire duration of having rental, wound up having to put in $40 worth of gas for a full tank. Access to key difficult due to worn out letters, making it hard to read.Jennifer T.
It was difficult to do the remote check in. For example the picture showing where the lock boxes were located was incorrect (the boxes had been mounted on a wall and the picture showed them mounted on a truck). We were assigned a truck that had been given to someone else and there weren't any moving pads in the truck as ordered. Someone from uhaul happened to come by and helped us obtain the truck. We never got the pads and have been billed for them. We are still trying to get a refund for the pads.Lana L.
This was the worst experience I've ever had with a company. I am hesitant to give any constructive criticism as it might give this company a chance at success however I doubt anyone will listen to my advice. So on the off chance your current leadership is fired or falls off a building here are my recommendations: The online experience is horrendous. When I rent something I want to interact with a person. Checking the car in online took far too long and was increasingly complicated when the website gave me incorrect information. I couldn't find the location! There is no sign for the dealer and really no way to tell that that is where I should get the car. The location did not appear on the map when I searched it online and I had to ask a nearby U-Haul dealer for the prober location, this caused me to be significantly late. The websites are not transparent about the costs and without a person to ask questions or an open phone line to call I was left on the dark about unanticipated fees. I sincerely hope someone considers these remarks, yet, weather or not anyone does will not impact me as I will never be renting from or recommending U-Haul ever again.Benjamin F.

The location is just a spot in the parking lot of a strip mall. The signage is minimal and, what's more, the address given is incorrect. The address given is for a barber shop on the other end of the strip mall. After going to the listed address, I found the drop off location only by searching around, eventually stumbling upon it around the corner at the far side of the strip mall when I noticed a few U-Haul trucks parked and a small sign (about 3'x5') on the wall next to a mattress store. Also, there was nothing offered for locking the cargo container to prevent theft of rented items like blankets and dollies. Lastly, although not specific to this particular location, the U-Haul return process on the website needs improvement. It does not permit uploading previously taken photos. More disconcerting is that the process on the website ended without acknowledging that the return process of complete. It didn't even include instructions to leave the keys in the drop box (granted, dropping the keys in the drop box is the obvious thing to do, but instructions should be included as part of a complete process for returns).Michael G.

The guided online check in took too long. I was â€œpending approvalâ€ after uploading my documentation for awhile. And it wasn't processed until I started a convo with the agent via the texting feature. This was a waste of time. The keys were NOT where the instructions stated they would be. Both the description and the photo of where the keys could be found were incorrect. This always again, a waste of time. Then when I found the keys and tried to complete the process online I was given an error in regards to â€œno photos being foundâ€ when I wanted to upload a picture of the odometer. Luckily there was a nice gentleman there who was picking up a truck himself. He instructed that the error happens every time. If it hadn't have been for him I would've called in and wasted more time. So even though I was on time to get the truck, I got a late start. All of this could've been avoided with improvements on your end.Jaclyn S.

First the Pros - The cargo van was in great shape, in fact it was new and had less than 300 miles. Pick up and drop off was through a phone app, and worked well. Now the Cons - I requested an appliance dolly, and it was not in the van. This is an unmanned site, and no one answered the phone number I called. I called the UHaul "customer service" number. First two times I called I was put on hold and then after a couple of minutes the number disconnected. On the third try I got through, and I explained that the dolly was not there, even though the contract had included it. The woman said "Oh, I'm sorry about that, I'll take it off your contract." I asked her how do I get the dolly? Her response was "I took it off the contract, it's only a dolly." Is UHaul in the business of helping people move? Does she not realize that I needed the dolly to assist in the move? She said "I took it off the contract, and there are no other locations near you that are open. I don't know what you want me to do. I'm not going to sit here and argue with you over a dolly." I had to make a trip to Home Depot and rent a dolly from them for $23 instead of the $10 from UHaul, and then I had to make a special trip back to Home Depot to return it. Very frustrating.David T.

Awful non contact set up. U haul app is awful as well. If I have to rent a vehicle with you again I will only do it at a location with persons on site. Phone number didn't work for this location. Locks are rusted. Not worth the 80 bucks simply because of the hassle.Brandon K.

The truck was extremely beat up. Didn't feel safe. The parking lot it was parked in had so many extremely deep pot holes that made maneuvering the truck difficult to avoid them. Also, the parking lot was very dark, felt unsafe dropping the truck off in the dark.Michelle T.

Although the 24/7 check-in was seamless and the process easily presented via the app, in hindsight, I feel it was a lot of extra work on my part. I would rate the experience higher if I had walked up to a counter and had paid U-haul personnel execute the pickup/return regimens, like a concierge in a hotel. I get the labor savings on your end and the added convenience for some customers who like playing with thier phones on issues like this, however I finished the day feeling like I paid for the rental but also had to work for that privledge, instead of just picking up and dropping off keys.Bill M.

I made the reservation through the 800 number. Thr girl was very helpful but ended up giving me wrong information. She told me the 10' trucks seat 3 people, which is false. She also put the reservation in my name even though I told her I was paying but wouldn't be picking the truck up. Thankfully, Luis straightened everything out for us. When we picked up the moving truck it would not start. Battery required jumping. We were told that there would be no other issues. My wife and I were moving out of our house, and had an entire truck filled with items before realizing that the truck would not start again. It needed a new battery. When my wife called the location from which we rented she received a text that said nothing other than "At lunch". Horrible service. The only bright spot was the third party company that came out to do the battery change. I will never rent from U-Haul again after this experience.ANGELA G.

The worst experience ever. My reservation was changed twice and the third time the new location was an hour away from Chicago. I was told about the new location to pick up 4 hours before my move out time from my apartment. It took me 2 hours (back and forth) to get the truck and start loading. The truck was disgusting. There was food on the floor, dog/cat hair all over, some oil/grease spill next to the driver seat. The steering wheel was all sticky and there was a rotten food smell( or some kind of weird smell). It took me 15 -20 mins just to clean the inside of the truck. I had to disinfect it as I was not sure if it's Covidd clean or not. When I mentioned to Luis who I spoke over the phone on how dirty the truck was, he said " if you don't want it, just leave the truck and go somewhere else". Driving the truck was even worse as the side mirrors were constantly shaking and it was hard to see back.Jonathan J.

The equipment and the UHaul contact-less check in/check-out was great. The location was just OK. It was well-lit and felt safe because it was high-visibility, but that parking lot and whole area is not well kept and frankly getting to be kind of an eye-sore.David B.
The location address is a barber shop. Since there was no one around to help, I drove around a huge parking lot at the corner of north ave and route 83 where I saw a few uhaul trucks. The app wasn't clear on how to get the key so I had to chat with a rep who had to verify my application and then send me a pic of a truck with a key box on it which I had to assume was near me. I found the box and spent 10 minutes in the rain trying to figure out the unruly lock that was securing the box holding the key. Then all the picture taking and uploading to the site to verify all the info made this seem like an extremely impersonal experience. This process was very unorganized and frustrating.Lee F.

The instructions to drop off the keys were very unclear. The instructions stated to drop the keys in the box located outside the facility while there was no facility, just a lot of cars. After searching, I finally found the box on the side of one of the trucks. I would recommend making the instructions more clear. Further, the instructions were unclear on where to leave the truck. The gps took me to a large lot and if there wasn't another truck present, I wouldn't have known where to leave it.Aliuddin A.

The mobile process lacks integrity. I received truck with 7/8 th tank and has to return full. Drove only 45 miles and had to put in over $15 in gas. Also I was charged for 88 miles. I drove 42. Essentially I paid double to use your service. I may not use u-haul again and I will only use a shop with an attendant. Very unfortunate. Good news I got what I needed to do done. Bad news I paid $70 more than I should have. Please use this feedback to get better.Michael N.

I didn't like the fact that I was initially scheduled to pick up the trailer in a location close to where I wanted to then was switched to a different location the day before and then again switched to the final location for pick up and asked to do it a day earlier.Stephen S.
This pickup location was fine but I am still annoyed that no one told me my original reservation was cancelled and the only reason I found out was because I had to call to see if I could move my pickup time back. Had I not called I would have never known and wasted even MORE time than I already did. Then I had to go around all over IL to find a truck for that day since every single one in Chicago was being used and I only had a certain time window.Brittney T.
