SUHAIL VALLOPILL A.It was a combination of problems with U-Haul. The first was the person running the U-Haul was terse and unfriendly during our pickup, responding to a question about rental insurance by repeating the contractual information verbatim. He also made the prospect of turning the vehicle in on Labor Day seem like a real hassle since they would be closed, and I would have to use the U-Haul mobile app to turn the vehicle in. Any mistakes would cost me. Great. So, naturally the U-Haul app crashed while I was uploading the photos, and when I tried to resume turning the vehicle in, the app had closed my return, leaving me unable to edit or add additional required photos. Finally, the employee emerged (even though I was told the location would be closed) and asked for the keys, while I was on the phone with a U-Haul representative to resolve the photos that were not submitted. I had to tell the employee to stop when he entered the van to drive away and explain to him that the U-Haul rep wanted me to conclude taking photos so they could be emailed. Another negative experience was being up-charged for going over the estimated milage, but not receiving any credit from U-Haul for bringing the vehicle back with more gas than the vehicle had when I first rented it. Really disappointed in my treatment by the employee, disappointed in the U-Haul app, and in the predatory up-charging for the milage.

Odalis G.Made a reservation online 8/4/23 for 8/5/23 10AM pickup for a cargo van at the 8162 S Priest Dr Tempe, AZ 85284 location. I received a call @ 7:30 AM on 8/5/23 saying there was no cargo van at this location so i was referred to another location: 965 E University Dr Tempe, 85288. Once i arrived at this location the guy wasn't friendly at all. He wanted to know how long i would be needing the van and i told him 4 hours and that the information was entered online. He then proceeded to asked how far i would be driving and i told him 25-30 miles but he wanted me to be precise for whatever reason. we ended up going 46 miles and when we returned this guy tells me that we were being charged for 95 miles at which point my wife and told him that was not correct and he proceeded to make the correction. My complaint is that no one tried to be at all accommodating to the fact that we were routed to a new location and on top of that were attempted to be charged double the mileage. I have used Uhaul numerous times and for he most part had a pretty good experience. For whatever it is worth it might be in your best interest to give the guy on the University location a talk regarding his behavior, my wife and feel it was unacceptable.

Maybe let customers actually see the agreement? This looks like a positive review based on the score. It's not. I rated this place above average because it was better than my previous experiences with your service. I would not recommend the service and I would use a competitor next time.

Chad S.I don't typically like writing bad reviews, & I'll simply stop going to that business, but since I like the U-Haul brand & want to keep using them, something needed to be mentioned. Overall, the truck ran fine & the renting process the U-Haul was efficient. However, the gentleman who helped me (who I believe is the manager of the location) was very off-putting. I came in to the office to finalize the transaction: ID, card info, etc., the normal process. Near the end of the transaction, I asked a very simple question to the following statement: "Please sign your name in the box below." I prompted him to affirm what he needed, "Did you mean my name or my signature?" He condescendingly said, "It's the same thing." At this point, I could put together who I was dealing with. Once I finished moving, I preemptively brought my own push broom from home because I knew he was going to have an issue with the truck in some facet when I brought it back. I actually arrived earlier than the allocated time that I blocked. When I walked into the office, he was speaking with another customer who I could tell didn't speak the greatest English & didn't know what he was doing. I tried to help him with understanding the process since this wasn't the first time I have rented a U-Haul. I was stopped by the same man from the morning who told me, "Sorry this isn't your transaction, it has private information." I don't know what else I expected. Let alone, I was standing back a considerable distance so even if I was trying to commit any sort of fraud, I wouldn't be able to because what was I going to see? The customer apologized for his lack of understanding & even told him that his English wasn't very good. Then came my return. As I previously stated I brought my push broom because even though I had swept a couple times already, someone of this nature always finds an issue. I was closed inside the office with another person who I had already mentioned "I'm probably not coming back to this location in all honesty. The guy is very condescending." The employee steps back in to pull me out of the office. Low & behold he had an issue with the debris. I work with dirt & debris all day as I have my own landscaping business, so I get clean up is the hardest part. I told him preemptively, before stepping out of the office that "I brought my broom 'cause I know the truck is still a little dirty, just let me know if you need me to clean it out some more." He prompts me with, "Yeah, it's more than 'a little dirty'." I say to him irritably, "I know, that's why I said I brought my broom." He finalizes his inspection of the truck while I'm cleaning out the back, where everything was in same condition. I even left more gas in the tank than I began with as a 'thank you for letting me use the truck'. Safe to say I regret doing that now. I like to think I'm a fair individual & maybe I just caught him on a bad day. But this is no way to run a profitable business, let alone a business at all. I would've left a one-star review if I didn't want to keep going with the U-Haul brand service was just that bad. Safe to say I'm going to drive the extra 10-15 minutes to Mesa so I don't have to use this office again.

He had all our details in the system and we didn't need to sign anything. We received tge contract by email and we were on our way. The truck was clean with full tank of gas. We were happy with how smooth the pick up process was and also with the condition of the truck.

I ask if there is another vehicle that I can use to return at a closer location. There was, but for $80 or so which is crazy since the other van was $20. This was the main problem. Plus how you get hit with a ton of other fees. So a $20 van ends up being $80+ with filling up my own gas. Really poor upkeep on the lot and building too. I have been to other uhaul locations and they usually look professional. This was a poor dirty broken down lot.
Trevor J.When I returned my truck, the location was closed. They instructed for me to park my truck in an area that did not block the building. There were no available spots that did not block the building other than a very tight parking space in between a random car and another uhaul truck. Being that I did not want to get charged for parking in front of the building, I squeezed my truck into the only tiny space that was available, which I feel like it might be an issue that I parked my truck there..but I literally had no other choice. They need to be more clear on where to park the drop off trucks and actually make room for their drop off trucks.
