The check-in process was not great. The employees at the counter were messing around, ignoring customers, and just generally lacked professionalism. It took me 25 minutes to check-in and get my keys because the associate did not know what he was doing. I understand needing to train new employees but I didn't appreciate it being at my expense -taking 5x the amount of time it should normally take.

Was not reimbursed for gas. I filled it up because my tank only had an 8th left. Was not reimbursed because I had to fill it up only to what it was before. It's extremely hard to gauge something like that. This is horrible practice. Will not be using uhaul again.

It was very unorganized and directions were not super helpful outside the door for after hour drop off. Why not put a QR code for directions or advice to log into the app? I also didn't quite know where to park, would have been helpful to have clearer directions.

Great customer service. Gene has always been a very professional and smart manager, he knows how to treat customers the right way, like managers are supposed to. The cleaning staff are aways working hard to keep this place clean, and i've seen through all these years how dirty some customers can be, but they make this place look like brand new, everyday. I've been a customer from this location for years, and i can not complain about anything at all, zero, nothing. The front desk always helpful and friendly, i personally believe this is the best location in town.

It's sad that people within your organization have a very poor work ethic and it shows in the equipment that is being rented to the customer. And it shows in the way the equipment/vehicle is dirty inside windshields is dirty.

One U-Box is not enough for 1.5 rooms, more accurately it is enough for 1 dorm room. If the boxes were to be remade 3-4 inches taller it would accommodate more couches vertically.

There was a crowd of bystanders standing out front of the Uhaul location that I went to.Men who looked capable of moving my furniture but I felt they were too aggressive. They followed me into the store and looked over my shoulder into my purse. I got nothing that I paid for. After my key disappeared I abandoned my goals of moving into storage. I was approached by a gentleman claiming to be a locksmith who also asked me to go to the bank. The moving helpers that I hired ($205) were inadequate looking and I felt scammed. The odometer reading was incorrect, and I was charged $200 extra beyond the 5 miles that I drove. It was ruthless, and wild that I would have to spend that money. They were kind at the store, but U-hual's systems really messed up my week.

This was an unusual situation, to start with. I, Steve Lynn, live in Montana and procured the Ubox to send goods to a relative in San Francisco. I repeatedly gave the SF and Hayward people the name, address and all contact information for the recipient, Garth Spiller on 636 Vermont Street, but Uhaul continued, repeatedly, sending ME the texts and other update information, which I REPEATEDLY had to then forward to Garth. Duuhhh!!! Glad this is finally over.

Make sure u have the correct gas level Noted ...when the agent helped me at the counter she said the tank was half full and to be sure I r return it at the same level to avoid paying $7.25 / gallon as well as a $30.00 service fee. Well, i sure am glad i took photos as proof at the outset because as there was no place to note the discrepancy at the outset or upon return, im sure they are going to try to charge me that extra $ cuz there was only 3/8ths of an tank and NOT 1/2.

The service experience at the counter was good. The service at the equipment return end was horrible. I arrived before 5 pm and walked into the office to ask who to return the truck rental keys to. I was advised by the counter staff to drive the truck into the area with the sign “ equipment rental” . There was no signs other than “ no parking , active driveway” . I parked the vehicle where i was directed before 5 pm. There was an attendant that walked towards me and another attendant by the name “Micheal “that was walking down the truck ramp above. He yelled out to me “ you have to move the truck! You have to find street parking! “ . I told him I'm returning the vehicle and was advised to bring it here to return to an attendant. The driveway was also narrow and reversing a 15 foot moving truck is not easy. I asked Micheal if he could move the vehicle if I can't return it. Micheal proceeded to state “ well I'm just going to have to charge you an additional fee!” I asked hi why I'm being charged an additional fee and he said “ because it's after 5 pm” . I asked micheal that I need to check the odometer to also do the check out on the app. He said “ you are not doing anything!l I asked him why and he said “ because you don't want to move the truck! And now you are not doing anything! “ I asked him what his name was . He refused to tell me his name and also instructed the other attendant to not tell him his name. The other attendant said his name is “ Micheal” . I went to my vehicle and as I was getting ready to leave the faculty, Micheal drives the U-Haul towards my vehicle and tried to intimidate me by coming very close to my vehicle with the uhaul. This has been the worst experience I have had at uhaul. I will reconsider doing any further business with U-Haul because of this horrible experience.

Though I was scheduled to have my box delivered to me, I had to rent ur truck to do it myself in order to maintain my time frame for moving. Then after unloading, Uhaul didn't pick up the UBox as scheduled .. When calling some didn't know hoe things worked, and put on hold for 5 minutes or more and had to call back... Not Happy at al..

I had a simple question about the insurance which I can get while getting the truck but the representative won't even listen to me. My question was if the offered insurance covers liability insurance or not. Not sure why the representative would be upset with this innocuous questions. There were two other representative who tried answering my question, while this other dude won't event let them talk to me. I had a sub-par customer experience at the location.

The self check in wasn't recognizing I was at the location (even with location services on) so I had to ask someone to help. Not only did they issue a truck that was behind two other trucks, but the equipment is reserved ahead of time wasn't in the truck. Furthermore when the associate checked me in, she override the self check in and reservation details I had filled in - so I left and got a call asking where I'd return the truck. Because I was driving I asked that they find the closest place to my destination and gave them the name of the location I'd previously booked. Well they chose a destination for the away (messing with my mileage calculation) and changed my check in time to an hour earlier, but didn't highlight they made the time change. Luckily I read the fine print - but overall bad customer service and car. I didn't even get the truck until 9a because of them having to move trucks and then gather my supplies. The truck was not in great condition and the door was wonky. Even my movers couldn't always open it.

The location is open till 7pm, but the entire staff leaves at 6:30pm. If the app doesn't work, the staff is extremely rude and won't help.

U-Haul surpassed my expectations with the U-Box experience. It was easy to arrange and in our situation, we rented a U-Haul van to take the contents to the U-Haul facility and load it there then lock it. They did the rest and got it delivered from California to Maryland on time and with no problems. The U-Box includes 2 dozen pads to use which was very helpful. Our local facility delivered the container to us for a reasonable fee and picked it up a few days later when we were finished. Make sure you have your own lock for the container or buy one from U-Haul. It was painless and since we did not have enough to fill a traditional pod container, this was perfect. All staff, both at the Bryant St. location in San Francisco and at Takoma Park, MD were very helpful and friendly as was the person delivering the pod to our home. I recommend this service. Thank you.

This is the second time i rented a van from uhaul in the last couple of months. The first time the van was relatively new and in great shape. This second van was clearly not well maintained. There wer traces of glue all over the outside. There was a compenent on the inside that had been pulled loose.

- gas was at empty when we got the truck. I heard this was due to the fact that it was siphoned the night before? - muffler was leaking , we had to ask to make sure it wasn't dangerous - equipment wasn't left inside the truck, we had to pick it up ourselves I've used U-Haul before and always had a great time. Never had issues before This was very surprising, and by far the worst experience I've had. I believe the staff are trying their best, it's just a high crime location unfortunately

Had to call the location 4+ times the week before the move. Staff at this location (and uhaul headquarters maybe) made a number of mistakes including: not booking my delivery, booking for the wrong date, booking for the wrong time, booking for the wrong address, and not finding my delivery location pictures. I'd recommend training staff to find solutions, instead of just telling customers the problem and expecting them to figure out what to do. Uhaul should proactively reach out to double check delivery times/locations, instead of expecting me to call on a whim just in case something is wrong. Also Uhaul should fix its online portal, since the information I was seeing did not reflect what the employees told me on the phone. At the end of the day my things did get delivered undamaged it was just a difficult process.

When I came to this location I had few questions and when I asked it to UHaul employee she gave me silence ignorance. Her coworker had to get in and say she is a new hire. But it is very business unethical to give ignorance inside the office when I ask questions about my rental. Second is the truck. It turned off on every red light. This car had issues and they never tested it and gave it to me. My experience became nightmare as I had to start car every time I stop on red lights as it would shut down itself.

I will never use uhaul again for long-distance moves. Or maybe any moves at all. My ubox wasn't event delivered to the right city at first and then, even though when I first booked my uhaul I put in San Fransisco, when it finally gets to the right uhaul location, they say they don't delivery to where I live, so I had to rent a van, unload my box into the van, drive to my apartment, and then unload at my apartment. It took so many phone calls to even get my box to the right location (they also moved it from the first city to the correct city without notifying me) and just to get my stuff. A 1/5 star experience, I will use PODS next time, even though it is more expensive.

Associates need to be more informed, I went in to rent a truck for about 2-3 hours and the associate asked me how many miles I was going to drive, to be on the safe side I said I was going to be driving around 40 miles and the associate kept saying 20 miles because i mentioned I was going to be driving to Daly City I was really confused on why she kept saying 20 miles. I left with my rental but the whole experience didn't feel right at all.

The area is hot and difficult to load and unload packages. There are only two places to park with no ramp only stairs. It was very difficult to move in. The access door doesn't work properly I have to swipe my card at least 3 times before the door opens. The staff wasn't very friendly either. My storage door kept sending off the alarm and I told the clerk and he said that was normal but it's not! It was very embarrassing and scary! Other than that the location, prices and storage availability are very good.

The U-Haul storage facility on Bryant St. in SF was a huge upgrade from from my prior storage rental in SF The U-HAUL's facility's common areas were well lit; well maintained ;and kept very clean. I was also paying a lower rate - so a much better value. My prior storage facility allowed vagrants and people loitering at or near the facility - so there were safety issues in addition to fumes and dirt. I personally recommended U-HAUL storage to a number of people needing storage in San Francisco.

Because I was late with my payment, I received a text from another client from UHaul asking me was I late and could I get down to the storage to pay my bill that they was charging her late fees for my unit and was going to kick us both out, I asked her what do my bill have to do with you, and what kind of people are we dealing with, I still have the text in my phone, my business was not hers, but I understand places only care about money and not people, things happen they had just changed my pay time and I was about to set up for auto pay , good luck.

I had this unit for more than 8 years, and everytime I've needed help with anything, the staff here have been a delight to work with. Starting with helping me coordinate the shipment of the pods, renting a truck and renting the storage unit, to any subsequent time that I needed a truck or van to shuffle my things around, every transaction was easy and everyone was always friendly. The building and the unit were easy to access and felt secure, and a truck was available each time I needed to rent one. I've been so impressed, and I'm very happy with my experience. Keep up the good work!

- van return process not intuitive: the drop-off instructions require access to the van, but they are displayed in the key box. I only saw the instructions after returning the key - elevators are unintuitive and a major bottleneck - it takes a long time to access the storage unit: there should be shorter routes - there should be more dollies and carts available for dropoff use. I was not able to get one on my first dropoff trip

Only because the storage where I need to store items due to a sudden move had used mats covered in rat fece's! Rat fece's we're everywhere I had to request a broom and dust pan and clean the entire area soooooo disgusting! I have clothes that I had hang on a rolling rack my concern is the rats don't get to the items also I working to make sure that I can relocate sooner then later it was a hazardous nasty mess Uhaul should have a scheduled exterminator with all the money Uhaul makes

There is no light inside the unit which led to my partner being seriously injured when he slipped on a rat trap inside the unit when we were moving in. The staff was not helpful during that time and refused to extend our truck rental time even though we spent 2 hours in the emergency room before we could use the truck. Since then, however, the staff has been kind. The manager is very friendly and flexible. Although the facility is a little cumbersome to navigate, I was happy with the late hours of operation. Because every other encounter was excellent, I gave the excellent rating despite the harrowing events earlier in the year.

I was a bit flummoxed about actual size of spaces and the corresponding costs. was unable to look at an actual space for rent until signed and paid for. i think perhaps the space is on the more expensive end of the list for that size. However, quite fortunately, it also is very easy to access from the loading dock to the space. I guess i am getting what i am paying for even though i didnt (know to) ask for it.

Key cards never work consistently. It took me two hours with card reader problems to simply move 1 box into my storage unit. I had to go back to the office 4 times to get my card checked. This was a 10 min task that took way too long and was super inconvenient to keep walking back to the office to understand why card won't work in reader. can't we go back to codes?
