I initially rented my truck through uhaul Centralia but the truck never arrived and they only had much smaller ones. Someone from uhaul called me to help get me a different one ASAP as I had also hired movers through the built in tool online and didn't want to have to reschedule. As part of this I was meant to be given a free day, additional miles (to make up for the extra 60 miles to get it) and they also offered me a $50 credit. When I showed up at this location the employees had no idea what I was talking about, seemed irritated that I was asking questions about the movers (i know they don't have much info, I just asked for a phone number because everything was so last minute and I couldn't find the number on my order confirmation), and we're generally very unhelpful and made me feel like a nuisance. Ultimately they gave me the free day but I wasn't given any of the other things that I was promised on the phone.SEAN LEIGH M.

My truck was not in a clearly labeled place. Took forever to find it. Then when I checked in using the app, I STILL had to go inside and talk to someone. I booked a vehicle that was apparently not available, so the truck got changed after I had paid for it. The amount paid has not yet been adjusted or refunded to my credit card. Neither a hand truck or dolly that I had requested were with the vehicle.David B.

hello - I am unhappy with my experience today at the UHaul location 2516 4th Ave E Olympia WAÂ 98506.Â I rented a 8' pickup truck for 4 hours.Â The odometer reading on the truck did not match the reading in 'Mileage Out' on my contract.Â When I brought this to the attention of the rental agent and then the manager, they both claimed that they were unable to fix it on the contract, but that they would adjust it when I returned the truck.Â They did not, meaning that I was overcharged for the mileage on my rental truck.Â Moreover, both the agent and the manager were unfriendly and rude.Â I have rented from UHaul several times in the past with good experiences.Â This is the first time that I have had a bad experience with UHaul.Â I will not be renting any more equipment at this location, and will be sure to spread the word to friends and family about my bad experience at this location.STEPHEN C.

Make a reservation, I just showed up expecting them to have a 5x8 enclosed but I was lucky and I got a 5x8 open trailer and it didn't rain. Also make sure if you're planning on towing a trailer your lights are wired.JAMES ANTHONY Y.

It's a very busy location, particularly on the weekends. I used the online reservation system and that went very smoothly, but "skipping the line" could be a bit more streamlined: I still had to wait (a relatively short time) to get the attention of a store employee to provide me a key for my vehicle. Is there a way that customers could retrieve a key for a reserved vehicle without needing assistance from a store employee? Still, in all, a good experience!Kenton B.

Your employees were not knowledgeable about other departments jobs which caused delay in MY process of moving by recommending the wrong equipment for the job. Then, The site and scheduling seemed to have issues. One hand didn't know what the other was doing and voiced their concern.Bill M.

Received a call over two hours after I returned the truck,asking where the truck was. I explained to to them you have had it for hours I handed the keys to a girl who came out,and said She would send me an email which I received almost immediately,after the call the next problem became, I was charged a 20 dollar fee for gas,when I know for a fact I brought it back with more gas in it,than when I picked it. The truck was not full when I picked it somewhere between 3 quarters, and full. I still brought it back with more gas out of my own pocket. I called, and was transferred to some sort of customer service, which didn't seem to care. It's not about the twenty bucks, it's about being ripped off,and incompetence. your system has changed with technology and it's so fast and easy. I still like to go to the counter and the people are always very friendly and make it quick and easy. overall the equipment is always in good shape. With the exception of a couple of trim items like a window crank handle knob and the driver's visor. But we talked about it when I checked back in. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my moving needs.DENNIS M.

Website AND call to national call center assured me I could pick up truck before hours, but this location has a policy that pick-up trucks must only be picked up during business hours. EXTREMELY annoying because I had taken the trouble to confirm with a person that I could pick up early, in addition to having that assurance clearly conveyed by the website.PETER B G.

The size of the units are not as stated. They have low points and odd shapes making it impossible to get some items in them. If I rent a 15 foot truck you should have a unit to fit that cubic feet inside a unit. The stairs to the unit went up about 9 steps. The hall then went about 5 steps forward, then down 3 steps. Then forward about 6 feet, then back up 3 steps. That hall is treacherous especially for someone with mobility issues carrying heavy household objects. My reservation for for a ground floor unit. I was issued a different unit by the clerk, so they do not appear to be able to read a reservation. They one thing they did right was be polite and issue 2 small units free to make up the difference. It was very difficult to access the facility because their is only one street side access point and it was in use by someone. I had to wait for them to unload. I had to nose out into 4 lane traffic to back in. Dangerous. There was a rat poison bait box inside one of the units. Is my stuff safe from infestation?David S. | First Impressions

With the exception of one staff member, everyone there was very helpful, supportive, and hospitable. There was a gentleman working outside (I think he was checking in returned vehicles and overseeing the lot) who I felt was condescending and made me feel stupid. The friendly people at the counter directed me outside after finishing payment and registration, and told me my truck number. I had my key, and went out to find it. I (wrongfully) assumed that my truck would logically not be one of the blocked in trucks in the lot, seeing as how I had just paid and was ready to leave to start my move. I couldn't find my truck, since I was just checking the front row of them. In my mind, why would I get a truck key for a truck that I couldn't get out of the lot? The trucks were parked in about a 6 x 3 setup. Mine happened to be a truck trapped in the middle of them. I tried to get assistance from this male staff member who was outside, and without even looking up from what he was doing, told me it was right there, and he seemed frustrated that I was so inept and couldn't complete the simple task of finding my own truck. He obviously didn't feel like being much help, so I looked harder. It was then that I found my truck, blocked in, in the middle of this rectangle of trucks. How does it make sense that my truck would be trapped in by the others? You just gave me the key expecting me to pull off of the lot. And this guy was making me feel dumb for not being able to find it? There was a family also searching for their truck as I finally found mine. This male staff member seemed oblivious and/or apathetic to both the plight of this family as well as my own struggles. I got into my trapped-in truck, as this lost family realized that their truck was the one blocking mine in. I don't blame them for this issue though. That male staff member should have cared and been perceptive enough to realize that it was taking an inappropriately long time for two sets of customers to find their rigs, and came over to help us. Even if he thought we were idiots, you're in a customer service business. After getting my truck out of that puzzle-box, I pulled it around to the loading area. I should also mention that this was the same guy who escorted me to my new storage space. En route on foot, he asked me which unit we was mine. I didn't know. He commented on how it made him worry that (or something along those lines) I didn't even know what number unit I had. Sir, I had JUST paid. For a unit that I only signed up for because your associates had offered me a free first month if I did. Ok, I agree, I should know what unit I had just rented. But you didn't know either, and you were the staff member ESCORTING me to that very unit. You didn't know either, and I felt it was very inappropriate for you to have commented on that to me. If I'm a customer, and I'm not doing harm, you don't let those opinions out in a blaze of glory in your attitude towards us. It made me feel bad and not want to work with you anymore. Overall, my uhaul experience this time was pleasant, and I was really happy to have those services available in my community. My experience with this one staff member shouldn't inhibit other people from patronizing this uhaul's services. I wasn't even going to say anything, but Uhaul just emailed me and asked me to fill out a survey about my experience. So, I'm just trying to be honest. I would definitely use this specific Uhaul facility again. I'll just stay away from this one grumpy guy. Maybe he was having a bad day or something, but I'm already stressed out from the move. Very friendly and helpful staff. This facility has a very small parking/loading area, but this never posed a problem with us, and we accessed our storage unit very regularly.
