I rented a Pickup for 24 hours. The staff numbers looked like they had been reduced from other times I have rented Pickups at this location. I was used to the vehicle being driven up to the front door for me to inspect and drive off from there. This time I was given the key and the service man pointed from his desk that I could find the truck "over there." He said the number on the key tag would match the truck. I went to retrieve the truck and it was absolutely filthy on the outside. It looked like it had been parked there for quite a while. It did not look like it had been cleaned - at least on the outside for quite some time. The outside windows were dirty and you could tell that the windshield wipers had been run after the windows were dirty. The truck was parked apparently under a pigeon roost, as there was yucky stringy bird poop all over the hood and sides of the truck. I took pictures. The bed of the truck looked like maybe it had been rinsed at one time or another, but had remnants of dirt in the bottom. I was surprised also that the outside of the truck looked Very Banged up. Not all of the dents and scrapes had the usual stickers on them. Again, I took pictures before I left the lot. This was a very different experience than I have had in the past. I was disappointed. However, the truck ran fine and I was able to use it for the job I had.Debra C.

Overall this was not a good experience using U-haul. It reminded me why I usually avoid U-haul for any truck rentals. The service/personnel at this location was fine. The big problem was that I had actually made an online reservation for the Ballard location, but when I arrived for pick-up, they didn't actually have the cargo van I reserved online, nor a suitable replacement. They helped transfer my reservation to the Interbay location, but that was further out of the way and the whole mixup ended up costing me an hour of my time. The delay came very close to ruining the whole reason I rented the van in the first place - I would have paid roughly $200 in rental fees and gas for nothing. Luckily, I was able to get to my destination just in time to pick up the materials I needed. If you're going to offer reservations, you've got to know what trucks are actually available. That seems to be one of the most basic tasks of running any rental company. U-haul failed there.Brian M.

Signed up for truck share 24/7, but was later told that doesn't work for this location. I registered a two hour pickup/drop off, but was then told that I had to drop off my van or keys the following day at 7am, or else be charged. Extremely frustrating, and straight up impossible for some.DANIEL L.

Having some on-site parking would be delightful, even just working with the Interbay Golf Center to secure a few spots. Also, my truck had a malfunctioning driver's side mirror - rendering it completely unusable during my entire drive, preventing me form safely merging.David A.

These people couldn't give a shit less where i rent a truck. No one was wearing a mask and when I asked the receptionist to do so, he scoffed at me. Personnel made it SO easy to return the truck. Absolutely no hassle, super friendly. The location is easy to get to, though parking/maneuvering may be a bit tight if multiple people are returning a truck at the same time. Still, the lot is pretty big so you can find an area to quickly pull into as you figure you're parking situation.Kristineelise B.

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE! PLEASE REFUND MY MONEY! The truck I initially reserved wasn't available so I was sent to a different location, the tire on my truck was very flat, the gas gauge was recorded wrong, the dolly I reserved was not available. I had to order this second truck because the movers I hired through Uhaul never showed up despite confirming they would be there. On the day of the move, I could even see the mover was reading and ignoring my messages on his cell phone. I would not have needed to rent another truck if they would have showed up -- I should be reimbursed and they should be removed from your website as a vendor. I talked to customer support at thew store and via chat but nobody could help. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE! PLEASE REFUND MY MONEY!KEVIN W.
We tried to change our drop off to 3736 Rainier Ave, S, as it would have been more convenient allowing me to spend more time with my family. However, the staff were rude and surly and refused to accommodate our needs. As a paying customer I felt disrespected and belittled by the experience. The rep was so quick , he was helping me and two other customers at the same time pivoting between stations and not falling behind on great service either. No long term parking at a location that's primary reason for existing is people renting larger vehicles than their own is one of the most pants on heads regarded things I have encountered. While the staff were exceptional and I have no complaints with them or how they maintained the location, I will never ever rent from this location again.Andrew W.
Location has no parking. There is no nearby parking. There is no off-hours return despite signs saying there is. There is another confusing similar U-Haul location 2 blocks away. Vehicles are severely damaged and method for ensuring you're not liable is quite broken. Gas estimations are exaggerated against your favor. My day of moving went very well with the dependable truck and all the equipment that was provided in the truck - all at a reasonable price. Awesome experience! I was getting ready for the move and was going to go to Uhaul when a friend recommended Penske so I reserved a van with them a week in advance.The morning of the move I go to Penske and they have no van for me - !!! - so, at 9am on the morning of the move, I drive to Uhaul and get a van in about 5 minutes and everyone was really great.Uhaul saved the day and will always go back to them for my moving needs from now on.BRIAN F.

Location needs more staff. There was only one person on a big moving weekend. We waited in line for an hour and 15 mins, missing our pickup time and having to adjust the whole moving schedule. The staff person was very frustrated (and rightfully so, it was busy and other customers were being difficult) but making comments like â€œI'm gonna put a gun in my mouthâ€ are really not very appropriate. If staff are not showing up or wanting to work, then there's something wrong with the company. Please treat them betterKSENIA P.

My reservation was moved from another more convenient location to this one less than 24 hrs before my reservation began. The truck was tired, it smelled, the check engine light was on and chimed every minute the entire time I drove. They also didn't honor my reservation for a dolly (ran out within 10 mins of opening). Overall an underwhelming experience.Robert C.
The truck was in disrepair. Exhaust gasket leaked so it was loud, ran poorly, and probably got sub-par mileage. The drivers side mirror wouldn't stay in position, kept falling. All the images for inspection were way out dated.Ian L.

I only wish this location had parking available. It is an extra expense to get a Lyft to and from in order to pick up a truck or van. For this reason I will likely choose a different U-Haul location to rent from.Victoria K.
This location only gets a 1 due to the â€œhigh theftâ€ it's a pain in the ass you cannot return your car after hours. Put up a gate or figure out a way to make it work. Hire a security guard it will cost you 65k before taxes or at least 180-200 a night. Or even better contract a security guard so you don't have to pay employee taxes. The worst part is I feel bad for the employees who are so nice and respectful. I enjoyed having them help me out it's just so so unfortunate they have to deal with this.Danylo K.

My reservations was moved on Aug 26th from U-District location to Ballard and I was sent an e-mail saying it's guaranteed. This was a minor inconvenience and negligible increase in cost due to mileage. After I arrived at Ballard location and waited half an hour in line I was told there is no van for me. After another half an hour I was told to drive to the Interbay location where there was a van for me to rent. Overall, it took a good hour and a half to check out a moving van. When I initially reserved I was told that I was not guaranteed a truck/van and that I would get a call 1-2 days out. That's no way to run a business and many of us have no other alternatives. I had to call twice to finally get a guaranteed rental. Then when I show up, they said they didn't have the 10 ft box truck I reserved because someone didnt bring it back in time and I was told I could take a cargo van instead (even though it didn't fit all my things). Also no way to run a business- there should be way more trucks/vans available so there is plenty of cushion and everyone is taken care of and not screwed over on moving (especially for the money y'all charge you should be able to afford a few more vehicles). It's busy at the first of each month and you should be able to predict that and plan for it better. Also staff are all young folks that don't seem to care about customer service or have pride in their jobs (maybe because they aren't paid enough or don't feel like management give a shit so they don't either) Basically my first time renting from uhaul felt unprofessional and like the company cuts corners despite how high their fees are. Remove the number of questions your website asks before confirming a reservation. Just provide ONE singe page with ALL the possible accessories you would like your customers to purchase in addition to the primary rental. Customers are savvy and make value decisions based on their need and risk tolerance levels.
