Drove across the street and started moving all our things in only to realize there was no lock provided for the unit as promised in the rental agreement. Had to go back across the street and ask for a lock. Was advised UHaul was out of locks. I asked how I was supposed to secure my things and that there would need to be a lock provided. The person working had to get one off the sales floor and give it to me since they were out of them. Very disorganized process and not at all what I expected!
Amber W | Online Move InI reserved an 8X10 unit and when I got there to move my things in there were no 8X10 units available. This was so stressful, I hired a moving company and the movers were ready to unload my furniture. My reservation was in the system but my reserved unit was not available and there were no other 8x10 units available. I ended up having to purchase a 10x10 unit that just so happened to be available. I asked the associate at the counter what happened to my reserved unit. He said that the system double books the units and that this happens all the time. This is unacceptable! Moving is already stressful enough. Imagine showing up with movers and a truck load of furniture and being told there are no units available, after reserving one! Then being told that this is common! I'm lucky that there was a 10x10 available. What if there were non available?

I had to call customer service and they contacted the location to have the unit released. It was resolved but it was definitely an inconvenience.

Andrew DOn two different occasions I rented a truck and was notified I had a free months rental. On the first visit to get something out of storage my entrance card had been voided. The second time when I went to clean out the storage the same thing happened. The office needed to call Joel at home to let me in. Someone needs to explain to them what free month means.

First time I went to make a payment they couldn't even find my name causing me to drive over to the unit to go make sure my stuff was there and then August 29th when I went to check my unit and make what I had planned to be my second payment there was a red lock on my unit. I was so infuriated I called a relative and moved my belongings out of the unit. This location is very dysfunctional and it appears to stem from the manager Joel or whatever his name is. This was the first and definitely the last time I trust using a storage unit. I would expect something like this from a local storage facility but not a corporate entity. Extremely dissatisfied and will highly recommend that all of my family and friends to avoid this U-Haul facility at all cost. I can't remember the name of the employee who attempted to rectify the situation but I would strongly consider him as a replacement for the current manager.
Michael L | Overall ExperienceI was supposed to have a free lock left inside my unit according to the offer I used thru the website. It was not there. The site also said 24/7 access but unless you want to pay even more, then the building I am at, you can only use between 7am and 10pm, which is extremely inconvenient for me and is not listed on the site anywhere. I tried calling the property GM multiple times and no one ever answered nor returned my call. The unit is also MUCH smaller than I thought it would be. I would expect a 5x8 to be just that. The 8 is apparently the height and not the depth like most storage facilities so now I am going to have to find time to get a different unit and move what stuff would fit at the time all over again. It'll do for the moment but inam less than impressed with the overall situation. I've had storage units before and this is by far the most inconvenient experience of them all.

Joseph FWe were customer for almost 2 years..during those years we saw numerous managers come and go,several issues with the facility for example lighting struck close by or possibly even the building which resulted in the system to crash and the units to not be secure for several weeks or months,our keycards stopped working,even though we paid extra for access 24 hours during this time we only had access during office hours and 2 times shortly after the problem was "fixed" we accessed our unit after 7 pm and the police showed up thinking we were robbing the building..we moved out several months ago into a different facility where we don't have to pay for 24 hr access and still have security and I turned my keycard into the manager and told him we had moved out the day prior to my rent being due and was told he had put us in as moved out but you all have continued to call email and send letters about rent for a unit we longer have..

However, when we arrived at U-Haul months earlier our reserved unit was not available and the only available option was more expensive The then manager gave us a discount that is no longer valid and we are now being charged more. we are offered a free month rent to compensate this however the start date is different and essentially is only 10 days free. I am waiting on a call back from Joel this store's manager where hopefully we can resolve this issue.

Arrik NThe man who waited on us had the nastiest, dirtiest, grimiest hands I've seen in a long time. I understand he is working on trucks, etc., but when you are waiting on customers, especially during a pandemic, it is unsettling to think of how long it must have been since he washed his hands. Wear gloves, something! Then, the other two had to touch the same surfaces he touched. Gross!

DANIEL WWe returned the truck the night before it was due, but store was closed. Uhauls online check in by phone process was a nightmare; we couldnt get it to work on our smartphones, and no one would answer the phone to talk us through it. So we had to come back the next day, and mistakenly got a bill for returning the truck a day late!!! I guess they realized their mistake since I havent got another bill. Uhaul needs to improve on this. My first ever rental wasnt good because of the return process.

The gentleman at pick up was very rude and condescending and not very people friendly and only seemed to want to go outside to smoke. The gentleman at drop off after our reservation was phenomenal- appears he needs to train the other gentleman how to do customer service.
Andrew EThe employees at the drop off location went above and beyond because they were closing up as we got there but stayed when I could not get my check in by phone to work. I do however feel U-Haul is a little on expensive side. I moved 36 miles and paid right 150 in the small truck. They need to come up with a better pricing system based on distance.

I did not receive any instructions about how to operate the truck, how to return the truck, etc. The lady who helped us pulled the truck up, left the keys inside, and went back into the building. We had to shout after her to ask if we were all set. Then, I get charged a $25 cleaning fee and told it was to fold blankets and sweep. Ridiculous. I would like my $25 refunded.
David VThe day of pickup I was disappointed that I was unable to pick up my truck using my mobile phone. I got so far as to take my picture and then got the message that it was "unable to process and to try again later." So I had to go inside and work with a representative. You need to fix your system, esp in this time of covid.
Jodi JClean, and check the condition of the very expensive rental trucks before you rent them out. The truck was filthy, I had tire separation in "literally" the middle of no where. I sat for over three hours waiting for help, and delayed my arrival, in Butte, WITH movers scheduled, and waiting. More expensive lodging and eating expensive restaurants. ETC. All u haul did was pay for one nights lodging, as to say my time, and all the people waiting for me was not worth anything. Not to mention the extra money it takes every day a person is delayed. Not a happy customer.

Charlene PMy experience at both the final pick-up and drop off locations was positive. All of my issues came from what occurred before those times. I rented a 10' UHaul and Vehicle Trailer to tow a recent car purchase about 450 miles. Finalizing the purchase of the car the same day I wasn't able to book the trip multiple days in advance. Upon arriving at the first pick-up location I was informed that it was closed due to Covid-19 and that I would have to drive to another location. I would like to know why this wasn't noted while booking my rental. Once I got to the second location I was informed that only 20 and 26 foot trucks were available. I declined the longer vehicles and was told I could have a 10 foot truck if I waited an hour. I left the location and got some food waiting for the 10 foot truck to return. After an hour had passed I returned to the 2nd location only to be informed that the 10 foot truck would not be returned today. They recommended I drive to a 3rd location, although they did not believe the 3rd location had any 10 foot trucks. Upon arriving at the 3rd location was provided with a 15 foot truck which I accepted. After accepting the 15 foot truck, the staff encountered computer issues which wouldn't allow the 20 foot truck from the previous location to be removed from my account. After several hours and three locations I was finally able to get on the road. Once I completed my trip I went to return the vehicle to the location indicated on my updated order. Upon arriving at that location I was informed that they do not accept trailers or trucks that large. The gentlemen I spoke with suggested I try driving to another location in the city but noted that he wasn't sure what locations were open or if they would accept the equipment either. After less than 24 hours and 5 UHaul locations later I was finally able to return my equipment. Most of the staff I dealt with was friendly, but it is apparent that UHaul and their corporate systems are completely unorganized.

Tonya TI was in the location several times over a 2 week period trying to rent a cargo van. Every time I went I spoke to a different person, and each one told me something different. It was very frustrating and a huge inconvenience.
Jennifer AWhat a mess I been through the week... it started out Monday June 1 renting a uhal that I planned to only pay 19.95 plus tax then the girl talked me into insurance for ten dollars and then I had to estimate my miles and I put 30...so that still was okay abouT $50... Well turned it back in on June 2 to a nightmare the girl checking me in was on her phone and some how charged me over $300... well guess what I only had 250 in my checking then she throws me my receipt saying it's fixed... oooo to my surprise it wasn't fixed then u all charge me anothe 300$ on June 4 overdrafting my account once again.. Took me a whole week on the phone over six hours with my bank to get over 600$ back on my account after only suppose to end up paying $45 after miles and check in... this was a terrible experience and never once heard from ur company to even apologize for my hell week...

Brandy JI have been to this location twice. I have little to complain about regarding the facility or staff. I noticed that your computer system was not fast and efficient. On two occasions the computer system tried to charge folks in front of me for two days when they were renting for one. It took your staff member a few minutes to correct this error, causing me to have to wait in line longer. Streamline your check in/ computer system. I assume this is not a problem when one reserves on-line but I have not tried this.
