I went to the store to update my information for my shed on Thursday June 30th, knowing my truck wouldn't be there until Saturday. I went to the shed on Saturday and the shed was locked. I had to drive back to the store to find out what was up. The manager could not find the keys to the shed. So we had to be moved to a different shed after we had already opened the truck and had initially started moving it out. When the Uhaul placed the lock they should have checked to see if it was empty! It was rectified but it took over 30 minutes. I was just disappointed in the manager and her attitude after having such a wonderful and very helpful experience in Utica NY.Heidi B. | First Impressions

Stuff was stolen twice. Security footage just lasts a week which is a joke given that it is a storage facility. Even police cannot see the security footage. Good luck if you come to the storage and find your stuff stolen. Truck was scheduled to be picked up at 7am. No one was at this location. Had to pick up a truck at a different location 1.5 hours later. I had a paid moving crew at my home for 1.5 hours doing nothing because of this. When I did pick up the truck, I was then advised to return the truck to the original location that I had registered to be at 7am when I was done for the day. The attendant (Keith) at this location refused to take the truck back. Although I have had great experiences with U haul in the past, I will probably never use or recommend this company again.MIKE B.

U-Haul ruined my move. I reserved a U-Haul truck to help me with a long distance move approximately one month before my moving day. I was contacted the day before my move to let me know that my truck will be available for pick up at 9am the next day. On the day of my move U-Haul called me 15 minutes before my scheduled pick up time to say there was a "small hiccup with my reservation." They told me the truck I was supposed to use would not be available until 3pm. They said they called around to try and locate another truck, but none where available. Their solution was I could "wait around and they would call me if a truck becomes available earlier." Anyone who has completed a long distance move knows that on your scheduled moving day you do not have time to "sit around waiting for a truck to become available." I was just moving myself and couldn't do it alone, so I also had hired movers who were scheduled to assist at 9am. I was also moving out of a rental and needed to be completely moved out by a specific time late afternoon. This deadline was not met due to the late U-Haul. The result of my U-Haul not being available on time caused significant additional expenses and stress. I was not offered any form of discount or reimbursement from U-Haul, just "our sincerest apologies for this inconvenience." How a company can treat a customer like this when their motto is "Your equipment reservation is guaranteed," is beyond me. So if you have flexibility with your move and want to use a company where reservations don't matter, by all means, contact the ever accommodating, logistical geniuses at U-Haul. I, however, would not recommend it.CHRISTINE J.

I received a 26' although I requested a 20' truck. I'm sure the gas mileage cost me more money and I had to manage a vehicle much larger than I needed. The driveway was too small to pull out this size truck, to the staff had to back it into the lot and repeatedly maneuver it to get it out for me. Also, UHaul never called to confirm my reservation. I had to call them to find out what time I could pick up my truck. When I arrived, they had changed my number of included miles from 129 to 103, which cost me more money.Lisa L.
Despite my going over my miles due to the pick-up and drop off locations being changed, I was not charged, and I am deeply appreciative of that. The personnel on the Rochester end were helpful and friendly, despite my not being particular happy with having to drop the truck off at a much less convenient location. In the future, when such changes are made that are contrary to the locations chosen on line, a call explaining those changes and the reasons for those changes should be made to the individual making the on-line purchase. I know there was some notification on-line, but both changes were missed, and consequently I wasn't a happy camper with both selections made by myself having been changed.EDWARD M.

First, I thought I was getting the vehicle from a different location, which I thought I had chosen online (hwy 14/ civic center drive) which is only 2 miles from my home. I went there and they informed me that the vehicle was at the south location, which I don't remember choosing online, and was an additional 9 miles away. My main concern was that I was the ONLY customer in the facility but the attendant admitted that this was only the second vehicle that he had ever rented and that most rentals do not come from that location- therefore, it took him an HOUR AND A HALF , multiple phone calls including several to the other locations and his manager who was off duty to figure out how to rent me my vehicle. It was to the point right before lunch where I had not eaten and was starting to feel ill. The attendant was at least nice enough to give me his bottled water and cookie to prevent me from passing out. The attendant was very nice and very apologetic, but clearly did not know what he was doing and had a great deal of difficulty with computer applications. I frankly could have sat down at his computer, followed the instructions (I could see his screen), and done it myself. I haven't seen my credit card charges yet, but I'm hoping there are not three separate charges on it for this rental as I had to swipe my card at least 5 times. Additionally, I'm not happy about the fact that I paid for the extra mileage because the pick up/drop off location forced me to pay for an additional 18 extra miles simply to get the vehicle back and forth from my home (not including the actual usage). On a lighter note, the van was pristine and only had 124 miles on it, so was brand new. Handles poorly, but did the job. Unfortunately, I will not rent from U-Haul again.ASHLEA M.
