Gas gauge reading was incorrect when I picked up the truck - informed staff and took picture of the reading - was still charged for not enough gas on return even though he had written on my slip the correct amount - which was in the truck when I returned it. Also the back of the truck had dirty carpet in it, and the check engine light came on and stayed on - both items were reported to the office. Don't appreciate the extra charges on my account when I informed the staff the the gas reading on my paperwork was incorrect. I confirmed with staff when I left that everything was ok - just to get the additional charge on my card after the fact. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!!!!!!!!!!Patricia M G.

I have rented from Uhaul several times and have generally been pleased with the Uhaul experience. Recently I had a bad experience. When rented the van, it was not clean inside or out. The van gas tank was 1/4 full. The van had sustained damage from an accident on the right front corner (bumper, plastic wheel trim, and cracked turn signal) and based on my conversation with the manager, he knew about the accident but the damage was not marked on the van. I was not offered another van parked on the lot. I spent an hour of my time at rental checkout on paperwork and documenting prior the damage to the vehicle.KENNETH K.

The mobile pickup and dropoff system on the website is incredibly terrible. The website does not accept photos on some cell phones, so I needed to use my laptop to complete the pickup. Additionally, the driver's license verification with a U-Haul is very slow. The van I was given had a back door that screeched VERY loudly upon opening. It hurt my ears, no exaggeration! I told the U-haul employees upon my return, and they went to work on it. Which would normally be ok, except I was charged at the higher rate even though the fact that I had to rent the truck wasn't my fault. When I picked up the rental the Terms and Conditions were different from what I had agreed upon in making my reservation. When I challenged the difference the Manager became very rude and basically told me â€˜to take it or leave it.'I had no options since I needed to transport the next day so I was stuck. My calculation had a $25-$30 variance, but the biggest issue was the arrogance of the manager and his willingness to put the blame entirely on his staff and indicating he would be firing his employee. Not a good look and no willingness to make an adjustment.donald H.

I arrived 15 minutes early to leave late. There was 1 woman checking customers in as another male coworker oddly dragged his feet around. Getting close he smelled of alcohol & was sweating profusely, as if he was detoxing. By his appearance, confusion, smell, lack of attention to 5 customers in line I'd say he was not sober. We returned a U-Haul truck her a day after renting it out in Brooklyn. When returning it, we were made to pay $179 in damages for a graffiti located on the side of the truck, even though the graffiti was already there when we rented it out in Brooklyn. We later sent them a photo of the truck on the day we rented it, showing the graffiti was already on it. They failed to respond.Nitzan T.
The equipment itself was great. The person getting me set up with my rental took 20 minutes of my four hours to do so. He also refused to tell me what would happen if I returned at all late. (When I asked what would happen, he kept saying â€œjust don't.â€) In addition to being slow he was cursing excessively and making jokes about drug use. Because he didn't tell me what would happen if I was at all late, I didn't have time to stop to refill the tank before returning the van, so I had to be charged for the fuel refill fee. (I would have had time if he had taken even five minutes less to get me set up.) When I returned the van, however, the employees were efficient and helpful. I was told two days prior my van rental size changed, when I tried to call customer service I was bounced around and hung up on so many times I finally gave up after 3 hours. When I went to go pick up my van there were 15 foot trucks available and they refused to give me one despite my original reservation. I ended up having to leave furniture I owned behind because it wouldn't fit in the smaller size. Additionally, due to a back injury I needed cruise control to drive the truck and this truck despite it claiming to have cruise control did not. A terrible experience.Amanda W.

Staff was very helpful and courteous and the cost reasonable. The $19.95 local rental fee, to then find it is over a dollar per mile on some models, is misleading. This ploy, and it is a ploy, is understood by repeat customers. For the first-time customer it is a rude awaking that a basic rental is very likely $100. They have a new hidden policy where if you want to rent equipment you must provide a secondary person to be available for them to call on the phone and answer several questions. Apparently this is due to the feds cracking down on rentals because of the fear that large vehicles will be used in riots/violence. I had to call my partner while at work and wait for them to get around to answer. Ridiculous. Never renting from uhaul again.Alex S.

While I had a great experience with the associates who helped me during my first reservation (Anthony checked me in on Monday, 8/16, and was wonderful!), I unfortunately had an awful experience during my check in process today. I called early in the morning to switch my reservation from a pick up truck to a cargo van, and was told by the person I spoke to in the morning that a cargo van was available and I'd be ready to go at the time of my reservation. When I went to check in, my vehicle was changed by the associate without them informing or asking me whether i approved the change. I was given a more expensive vehicle that I was not comfortable driving (10' truck). I didn't realize my vehicle had been swapped until after I received my keys and went out to find the vehicle. I went inside to inform them of the issue, and was told a cargo van was not available so they bumped up my vehicle. The customer service was severely lacking and the associate that checked me in offered no understanding or patience as to my concerns. Another associate had been helpful (not the manager or the one who checked me in) and I wish I had gotten his name. I went back out to try the truck, but as I turned it on, it also had tire and engine warnings when I turned on the car. With the car flooded in, the rain pouring down, and these issues, I found this unacceptable and not on par with the service I expected or even received the day prior. When I went in to ask to switch to a pick up truck (which I would have chosen if given the option, rather than the associate changing my vehicle for me), I was told a refund was not possible. I asked to speak to a manager, and the associate was unwilling and said â€œthey'll only tell you the same thing I did.â€ The manager came out and I eventually received a refund for the 10' truck, but not before being spoken over and down to rather disrespectfully. I do not understand why there is such a deficit in standard of service between my Monday and Tuesday reservation. The associate that checked me in today could learn a lot from Anthony or any of the other gentleman that helped me monday around 3:30 PM.ALYIAH G.

I had to drive 71 miles to pick my Uhaul truck. I requested a truck pick up from the uhaul location less than a mile from my house. I knew they had trucks at thus location, but uhaul is messing up people's reservations and they do not care. I have used uhaul for years and with every move I have ever made.
