I’m not happy that I was given the hard sell to get the insurance because I was promised that it covered EVERYTHING except taking the top off by a low underpass etc.. After I returned the van I glanced at the conditions. They tell a very different story. Uhaul needs to be clear about what is and is not covered under their “insurance “.

I purchased a hitch when renting my trailer. The associate installed it but did not tighten the ball on the hitch past hand tight, which came very close to falling off. The inside of the trailer was dirty leaving black residue on anything I put in the trialer.

Most U-Haul locations I have rented from do not take the time to actually provide care for the equipment, especially trailers. I also don't think that charging by the numbers of days you think a trip should take is right. I rented a car trailer and was charged a flat $458 for five days because that is how long you think it should take. The trip only took 3 days and that was only because I didn't return it until the day after I got home. The fee should be a daily fee and if the trailer is late, then you already have a late fee system set up.

Definitely need more staff working. Every time I have been to this location there is always a long line and I have had to wait and I feel terrible for the person working having to run in and out of the store tons of times. I have seen people ready to purchase something just put it back rather than wait.

This may not be a new policy but I became aware of it today. The fact that you automatically add an extra day when the equipment is returned more than 15 minutes after the customer submitted time is terribly tricky. We will be looking at other options next time.

Your computer system re checking people in to rent seems pretty slow. I was paying the driver by the hour and the computer glitches cost me a lot. Otherwise, people at counter and equipment was fine.

First of all, I usually receive trucks here that are perfect.However, this truck was sluggish, the truck door was extremely hard to push up or down. Also, the passenger door would not close one time...the outside handle was stuck (could have been frozen?) When I pulled the release for the parking brake, the whole panel and the insulation behind it fell off onto my feet. The staff here are wonderful, but I think the truck I got this time should be retired. Thank you. Renee

Picking up the truck - service was excellent and everyone was great to work with. The Truck ran fine but the roof had a leak and I had many boxes and the contents get soaked. I told the counter person about it when I returned the truck and she never offered an apology. She seemed overwhelmed when I arrived so I let it go.

I started my uhaul experience at a off site uhaul hub spot where I had a reservation for a 15' truck. I had to use the uhaul app to get the key for the truck. I was told this would be simple and fast...it was anything but that. I went through all the steps waited for approval and was continually kicked back to the beginning after completing the steps. I called for help, was put on hold for 20 minutes while I continued going through all the same steps 3 times. After about 45 minutes of this frustrating process I was told I would have to go to the nearest uhaul facility that was open, it was Sunday so the only one open was 15 miles away in the opposite direction of where I was and 30 miles away from where I was moving the furniture. I went and picked up the truck in person with no problem (a side from going way out of my way and adding an extra 30 minute drive in one direction to get it. I moved the furniture and thought I had 24 hours to return the truck since I paid for a day. When I looked at my paperwork it turned out that I only had it for 6 hours (i have no idea how a day rental turned into 6 hours and I dont know why I was not told this). Anyway I had to return the truck that night which added another 30 miles onto my trip. It was after the store was closed when I returned the truck so unfortunately I had to use the uhaul app again and of course it did not work again. It would not allow me to type in the mileage so I could not finish the process of officially returning the truck. I had to look for the managers number on the building and call him so I could explain my dilemma. He told me to abandon trying to use the app and just write the mileage on the paperwork and put it in the key box with the key. Using this uhaul app was supposed to be time saving and simple but easily added 3 hours or more to a very simple move of a few large pieces of furniture 20 miles up the road. Not only was the app completely useless and frustrating but the people I called for help were equally pointless as they basically just told me to get in my car and drive to another haul store. I will never use this stupid app again. What a giant waste of time.

I rent often and I really like the Ithaca location. Front desk can sometimes get overwhelmed with trained staff that can actually run the computer to sign out equipment. other than that, great job!

The online process of picking up the vehicle was much longer than expected. It was just easier to have a person there process it. This is a good idea for off hours and customers should be advised of this. Also, I didn’t request blankets and they took up so much space in the van.

Open the doors right at 7 am--When returning the vehicle, my husband was waiting for me so I could then get him to work as soon as possible. One worker came out to go rinse down the returned trucks. I had gotten there at 5 minutes to 7. At a few mins after 7, I went back to ask him if they were open and he said 'we should be' but the doors were locked and light off still. Then the store opened. I wouldnt have minded if I had parked my car there and was driving myself home, tho a business ought to open when they say they will. Othewise all went well and loved the vehicle I rented!

I was originally given a pickup location much closer to my place of residence, then a few days before it was moved to over an hour away. If there isn't any of the requested equipment available don't book pickups for locations that don't have the equipment. I booked over the phone so there shouldn't have been any reason they couldn't see the location didn't have the equipment requested.

This location's policy of marking each tiny rock hit or scratch with an X sticker is ridiculous. I paid for full coverage and was told I could still be held accountable for even the tiniest damage if it weren't marked with an X sticker. Why pay for coverage if I'm still held accountable? Why charge for damage if even the tiniest bends, dents and scratches aren't repaired. "Would I Recommend This Location" is not a Yes or No answer. It's a Maybe. The inventory, facilities and staff were great. The X policy made the whole experience a bit ridiculous.

It is the middle of winter with snow on the ground and icy roads, and i was given a cargo van that is rear wheel drive (not safe on wintry roads) that did NOT have snow tires or even all weather tires as far as i can tell. i did all right on the bare roads, but when i hit my neighborhood and there was 1/4-inch of snow on the ground (hardly anything), i got stuck twice and nearly slid backwards into a ditch. COMPLETELY UNSAFE to rent a vehicle like this in winter. there are hairpin turns in my region overlooking cliffs. had i slid on one of those turns, I could have been terribly injured or killed. I find it wildly dangerous and irresponsible not to have appropriate tires and vehicles for our weather.

This is the most disorganized business I have every patronized. There were three customers ahead of me in line. Each took approx. 10 minutes. I reserved an enclosed trailer online. No enclosed trailers were available when I arrived for pickup. It was nearly 50 minutes before I rolled out of there. The computer system there is antiquated and s-l-o-w.. One employee just stood there, with the only apparent task to take paper from the printer for customer signature. I have rented from U-Haul approximately 5 times in my life. Each time is incredibly frustrating, and yesterday may have been the worst. Upper management needs to fix this business.

The guy in the yard was great!! I didn’t catch his name, but he was customer focused and helpful. I spoke with a guy on the phone as well, I think his name was Rickie. He got me the information I needed and got me moving quickly.

Horrible customer service and wait times. Manager of Ithaca NY location was very nice though and helpful. Calling in for assistance or to make reservations was infuriating. HORRIBLE for moving ease.

Overall a good experience. The only detractor was having to wait while they loaded the uboxes onto trailers. I expected that they would be loaded up and ready for me to hook my vehicle up to.
