Run a more efficient operation. The people had to spend a lot of time off the floor not checking people in. They did not appear to be in any hurry. Check-in took forever. The customer in front of me was told he was e-flagged after at least 20 minutes of wasted check-in time. There is no reason your system can't flag that in the beginning. Advance check-in for a trailer did not allow them to speed me through. I had to wait in line a long time, start the process, go out and get my trailer hooked up, and then go inside and wait in line again. It all took an hour and a half. Frustrating.

They did not have the truck I reserved so I had to pay more for the next truck size up. Since it was not my fault I don't think it is fair to have to pay for the upgrade.

I do not know where to start. First the two guys were behind the counter were very nice. BUT, one was training to work the computer and was struggling. I can understand that. But the person training him was not actually helping him. So, customers were waiting.. for me it took an hour because they had to process my rental three times. They kept blaming it on the computer but it was operator error. He was trying but there was no direction. At one time the manager was playing his ring tone loud on his phone so everyone could hear the new one he had, while the guy training struggled to process a rental. When there were about 8 people in line behind me, the manager finally decided to start helping others. Otherwise it was just this one guy struggling while the other sorta kinda watched. Again, he was very friendly. When I received the rental the gas tank was not at a half tank, so then I had to make sure they documented that. Another struggle. When I returned the rental, they had a difficult time because there were errors. I wasn't surprised. But when a customer becomes familiar with you entry screens on the computer, you need to do something different. When a customer has to start reminding an employee on what to click on a screen, there is a problem. I don't work for Uhaul.

I rent uhals quite often and for the most part the equipment is in good shape. However, this time the equipment once loaded...primarily with office rolling chairs...was pulling like crazy on the highway making the long trip take double the time which resulted in having to keep the equipment an extra day. From all the times I have rented from uhaul the last two times the equipment was horrible. This one with the pulling and another one with the equipment blowing smoke on the highway way. I rent quite often 6-8 times a year...this year from 3 rentals two were bad.

I had a wait at the front end to pick up the truck because one guy was on the phone and the other was mopping the floor. Of more concern, though, was the substantial length of time it took to return the truck. Although I only had the truck for a few hours, I had to wait while they tested every system in the truck including the turn signals and the lights. How I could have affected either of these systems in the few hours I had the vehicle is beyond me.

The U-Haul experience started with a 45 minute wait at the U-Haul dealer to pick the truck. On the way home a red brake warning light illuminated along with an aural warning horn. We returned the ailing truck to the U-Haul dealer and waited in a 25 minute line. We received a new truck with no apology or compensation and brought it home only to find that our replacement truck started only intermittently. We had paid movers to show up the next morning to move us out of our home. The morning the truck was due back it won’t start. We received a call from U-Haul wondering where their past due truck was. We explained our issue and we were finally able to start the truck. When we finally were able to return the truck to U-Haul we again waited in a 45 minute line. When we explained the trying events of the two previous days we were told “there is nothing I can do”. Again no apologies...no compensation. The service was so bad that it was almost unbelievable. What you can do to improve for service for the next customer is very simple. 1. Provide a reliable product in timely courteous manner.

Only problem is that my Customer Service 'professional' took a 5 minute call - right in front of me, in the middle of my order - when I was trying to pay money to Uhaul. Held up my service, no acknowledgement (excuse me, I'm sorry, etc.). I will price shop Ryder next time.

Service was very slow. You had four workers at the time of making the contract. One was slowly helping a couple with a truck, one was on the phone, then just sitting there, one was standing outside, the other was texting and doing nothing. Then the man who put my trailer on my hitch didn’t tighten it enough and it popped off on y way to pick up my load. Finally at the end of my transaction, my forty dollars was not refunded to my account. I was charged 60 dollars to my debit card for an AO trailer for four hours. Normal price is 20. Over the past five years I have used uhaul several times for my delivery business and moving needs. I will no longer use uhaul after this experience

I had no working ac in 100 degree weather and was told to drive the truck back or I'm penalized with fees. Then I got issued a 20 dollar credit. I will be calling corporate and filing against uhaul with the BBB I've been a customer of this uhaul for years all they should have done was let me drop the truck in the town I was in . Now I should be refunded the charges so I will dispute with my bank thanks uhaul

Customer service at equipment drop off could be improved; I was not acknowledged/welcomed, and an employee walked by me 4 times!! Parking lot was extremely congested & hard to maneuver.

While driving the vehicle we swerved off of the road related to the steering wheel malfunctioning on the interstate, it was extremely scary and a terrible experience i have used this’s company for many of my moves and have never had this issue. I am extremely furious and requesting a full refund and want that truck pulled off for further evaluation so no other family will have to go through what i went through. Also the location i was at explained they were over booked and multiple people in line were waitin for trucks it was very disorganized and very unprofessional. Also while entering my truck the gas was not 1/4 tank full it was practically empty so i had to go back inside rock ave it changed. This whole process was very frustrating and I am expecting a phone call from someone in regards to this experience. it is June 3rd at 1:00pm. Thank you in advance.

There was a big line and only one person checking people in. The manager looked like he was walking around checking to make sure that doors were locked. I checked in ahead of time via an email prompt, but still had to wait in line for 30 minutes.

I was called the morning of my move to say no rental was available. After 30 min wait on 1-800 number I was transferred for another 20 min hold. Then told they have 1 truck go right away. Line of 5 ahead of me. 1 man on duty with a line out the door of people. Terrible experience

The employees in the local office were superb BUT when I called to make the appointment , apparently that is done through a central scheduling line. The central scheduler double booked my appointment on top of someone else, underestimated the install time of the other customer by a factor that of 3. Timing is always important. I needed the hitch installed so I could use a carrier to pick up my husband’s new mobility scooter. While in line to resolve my issue on Saturday it became CRYSTAL CLEAR over and over that central scheduling neglected to look at what is already scheduled and scheduled equipment rentals were already on the books before offering services/equipment to additional customers. Bottom line, I get the concept of using a central scheduling line for efficiency. But if they don’t do their jobs properly it causes stress, MUCH LONGER wait times and COMPLETE INEFFICIENCY at the local office. I rescheduled d for Sunday and the staff at the local office made my install a priority. Please look at how you train and use central scheduling!!!

We had not chosen this location as it was too far from our home. We had chosen a closer location a week before and told a day and a half before needing the truck that it was not available for a one-way rental.

I have issue with the fuel fees. On Friday when we picked up the rental truck, there was 1 woman taking care of all the rentals. When we went out to get the truck, we took a photo of the fuel amount that was in the truck. The woman told us she would adjust the amount listed when she went back inside. We filled the truck to the amount we got it at. I don’t agree with those fuel charges and would like them refunded.

The only issue I had was neither one of the power sources in the truck worked. I even spent 2 hours at a uhaul service location while they attempted to repair but were unable to. I really didn't like the idea having making such a long haul with a phone that ran out of power and no way to recharge. The safety package would have been useless if I was unable to contact road service. I was concerned the rest of the trip once I was aware of this issue. I really think that the pick up location should have ensure these outlets were working properly before they turned over the vehicle to me.

I originally wanted to rent a truck. I was told there aren't any. I had to rent a 10ft. enclosed truck. This would not work well for my situation. I've driven a 27'' truck before. There just was no room for that truck. When I arrived I asked about the regular truck and there was one available. I'm surprised that I was told there weren't any. I used the regular truck and everything was perfect. I just have one request. Can you give a credit when someone puts too much gas in the truck? I was told that If I don't put gas in the truck. I will be charged $4.25. I put $7.70 something and it was way too much. I told them I put too much and am told well uhual thanks you. I should have just paid the $4.25. Also, I was told there was a certain amount of gas in the truck and there was less. So, I had to pay more than I should have for gas in the first place. I only drove about less than 10 miles and put almost $8.00,3gallons of gas. You ought to keep better check of your gas and do some thing for honest people that that put more gas in your vehicles. The truck had a blown out tire in which we didn't notice until getting to our place. Thank God we were super close and we got the insurance...and that we noticed. Otherwise, we could have been in a tragic accident on the highway! I would suggest a little more attention to returning trucks from other states.

Customer Service, they closed at 5 and shut the door in my face at 448 and said change my reservations to online pick up, NO SUCCESS, rescheduled to pick up at 8 a.m. monday morning and still didn't get uhaul til 11 a.m., so now i had to call off from work on monday because all my things was suppose to be moved on Sunday, i was going to another city so i had to get a hotel because i had turned in keys and locked door to the place i was moving from, called off new job kids couldn't go to school it was a bad experience just like my LAST rental from them!!!

It’s not the location fault, in fact he was very helpful the problem is the corporate U-Haul system. I reserved one week before followed by 3 confirmation ( text,email and call) upon arrival, no truck no auto transport available! When I tried calling the store , it automatically sends u to central station. They are very pleasant and all sound perfect, NOT! Second problem: dropping it off. I was never told of closing hours and not a 24 hr drop off. What a nightmare driving a 26 truck( which I did not need for a one bedroom apartment) pkus a trailer in downtown Miami, yea think about that. At 7:30 pm I was stuck with unable to return truck. Central operator was so kind and felt bad for my horrible experience. After being on the phone for 40 min and her begging her supervisor, she found me a place to drop off. Furthermore , I was not aware of drop off fees...... I have been using Uhaul since the ages of 18 and I am 56, you would think that in 2019 with all technology this would not happen. It’s a repetitive problem according to local license U-Haul stores. !!!!! So my experience was horrible but I thank those who reach out to assist. Company needs to regroup because all looks good on your website but delivery and communication of product can simple be termed , IT SUCKS! Jorge Larranaga, md

The only other thing I would mention is that the cab if the truck has a leak in the roof and during the rain we drove through it was dripping on our dog who was sitting between us.

My problem was and is that it claims I returned the equipment one day late. It was due 5/1 by 2PM. I returned it on 5/1 about 10 AM. I received a phone call saying I had NOT returned the trailer. Then they billed me for being a day late. NOT TRUE. I guess you have to get written evidence from them to protect yourself or film them and record you conversations with them. In all the years that I have rented from U-Haul I have never had this happen and I am NOT happy.

More trained staff at locations. Diminish pandemonium during pick-up/hook-up. I only rented from U-Haul because the competitors auto transport trailer would not support my vehicle and U-Haul's did. Otherwise, the completion was cheaper and cleaner.

I had everything done 2 days in advance and had a confirmation letter in my hand when I went to pick up the truck. He said he had no record of me and had to start all over again. I even already paid and he had no record of that. Hit my credit card again. Better not get double billed!! I kept showing my confirmation and just ignored me like I was a dumbass!!! I will never go there again and will tell this experience to all who will listen.

They sent me 10 miles out of the way to pick up the van that wasn't at the location. I had to come all the way back to get another vehicle to drive because they didn't have the one I reserved. I DID NOT want to drive a big truck, but that's what I got stuck with since they didn't have the van I reserved. Now I had to pay more for the insurance and went way out of my way to pick up a vehicle that wasn't at the location they sent me to. I feel like they should reimburse me for the extra I spent.

The only comment I have about this location is it may be short staffed at the moment. Prior to my actual rental date, I dropped by twice to purchase packing supplies and there was no coverage in the actual store.

Customer service was excellent, the gentleman that helped me with my reservation was really helpful and nice. He did a wonderful job expediting the service. The only suggestion I have is to improve the wait time between customers. While one person is going through the paperwork there can be quite a wait time for service for the next. When I was there, there was only one person doing customer service (he did a fantastic job) but I had to wait longer than I anticipated. While waiting I did not see anywhere to sit down to wait. Having a place to sit while waiting would have been nice. Overall, my experience was great.

I arrived early for my 7 am appointment with others waiting about 7:15 am a worker finally arrived. I was told 2 hours after 3 1/2 hours I asked what's up and they said almost done. Multiply time the works walked by me never said anything about delay. Finally after3 3/4 hours they were done. I would not recommend U Haul to anyone with service like this. Price was comparable but thinking huge U Haul would do better than others I was surly mistaken. I had to hurry to another appointment and just made it or I would have had to loose money. With an operation like this I feel sorry for the branch. But as U Haul knows they are the only one in that area so I feel U Haul could care less about repeat customers. I have told everyone about this poor service. I went on line made appointment was forced to pre pay and this is how I was treated. I really think it is time for U Haul to do some secret shoppers to the location. I will never return and make to tell others.

I reserved my trailer via the toll free number. I was told there wasn’t one available in my home city so I reserved one in a neighboring city. I had a few extra days before picking it up and I called the location to confirm that the trailer would indeed be there. The person I needed to speak with was away from his desk and I was asked to provide my phone number for a call back that never came. The next day I called back to speak with him and a different female than I spoke to the first day told me there had to be a mistake because they only rent trucks at their location. I got a different number to call and was offered a trailer 2 cities away. When I expressed frustration at having to go so far, the reservation agent asked why I didn’t just rent one in my home city, and made the reservation for 5 miles from home. The trailer was available when I went at the time I requested. I was happy at that moment but the agent that did my paper work was deep into conversation with his recently hired coworker who was getting ready to do the tests to be certified on her training. When it came time to explain the paperwork, his speech went into hyper speed and I had to have him repeat what he had just said. He said that happens a lot. Im not surprised. The trailer was dispatched to me with a grease cap missing on one of the wheel bearings and it appears that it has been off for a while. I feared being stranded on the side of the road with a ruined hub. But that is a minor problem compared to the fact that the surge brakes were completely inoperative and I had to drive over 900 miles with a loaded 2000 pound trailer (plus cargo) and hope and pray I didn’t have to make any sudden stops. The brake parts seemed to be rolling around inside the brake drum based on the squealing and clanging noises you could hear while the trailer was rolling at slow speeds. The wheels on the front of my Dodge Ram are now covered with brake dust from having to do all of the braking with an extra 3500 pounds pushing it at every stop. I paid over $300 to rent this 6X12 cargo trailer. I expected it to be travel ready. From the botched reservation to the inattentive treatment by the dispatching agent to the poor mechanical condition of the trailer, it was a very disappointing experience. Based on this, I can’t recommend U-Haul. U-Haul, you need to step up your customer service in a major way.

The inside of the cab of the 10 foot U-Haul truck I rented stunk of a musty dirty old smell and it was very annoying on my journey to go pick up furniture 60 miles away. The truck ran fine and the rest of the truck inside and out was clean but the smell inside really irritated me and disturbed me and it was not a pleasant experience .

There check-in station was state-of-the-art. They did not greet us and I had to send my son in to the front desk. You had someone checking-in a trailer 50 ft. from us and could have hollered-I will be there or if staff are properly cross-trained, communicated over a head-set for someone to help us. Obviously not a problem I worried about and if you were not great otherwise--I would not have wasted this feedback but you clearly want to be the best.

The agent did not understand or neglected to write the contract to read that I needed to drop off the trailer in Lake City and not return to the Bradenton location. I thought she understood, as she asked me the zip code, 23025. I have rented from this location many times and have never had an issue such as this. I ended up having to make a 4 hour trip back to Bradenton to return the trailer. I lost more than 8 hours round trip.

The guy who checked us out was speed talking that i didn't understand what he was saying, it wasn't until i returned the truck that I realized i was overcharged. The truck was clean but the drive was awful. The transmission was slipping. The vehicle kept jerking will driving. The door didn't seem to close all the way. Then we returned the vehicle they had us get out in a pool of water my husband slipped and fell and hurt himself and all that was said was call 1-800 go u haul. On the 31st and 1st of each month more employees should be on duty. All three computer stations should be used not just one! It takes far longer to complete the rental contract and the return than the actual outdoor chk out and in. Bradenton is a low income area and many in town moves take place each month. The worker was going nonstop and you could tell ppl felt rushed, no fault of his own, it due to not having Uhaul staffed properly! U-Haul is a big disaster. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I reserved a truck and reserved mover in advance. I was moving on a Sunday and my movers were booked for the morning. On Friday afternoon got a call that i can't get the truck before 1230pm. Spend hour on the phone no solution. I decided to drive to the location. The girl told me i can come pick up a truck on saturday before they close. When i went there, there was no truck!!!! That was Saturday at 5pm she said she can do nothing. Nobody even call me to advise. My movers were coming on Sunday, what am i supposed to do! . After an hour she transfer at the end of the town to get a truck. Seriously this company is not organized and not serious. You can't play with people like when they are moving. I would never rent again and never recommend to anybody.

Dropped off the truck with more gas than we started with and were then told we had to pay for EXTRA milage, we drove 12 miles to get to the drop off depot! (our rental was for one day and suppose to have "unlimited milage"!)The clerk could not reverse the milage charge and we finally said FORGET IT! She went through three trailers to get one for me that did not have some type of problem. This certainly offset the delay caused by the defective trailers on the lot, which I do NOT see as a complaint on the lot itself, since they had presumably been dropped off from other locations.

Line was long. Waited for about 30 minutes then one of the employees mentioned that we could check in with the online feature after a few of the other customers were complaining they had been waiting for 45 minutes and 1 hour. Signed in and checked in with the online ability and it went great! Customer Representatives were very friendly and helpful. There were just a lot of people at that time. Suggestion - music or something to do/ distractions while in line as people are very anxious about moving and having to wait in a line for 30 minutes to 1 hour might not seem like much, but when people are on edge about moving they get anxious. We ( family and I) were fine, but there were three unhappy couples in front of us that were mad about the wait time.

I have rented 4 various trailers the last 3 months and dont understand why it takes so long (20 to 40 minutes) to just get what I need and leave. The employees at both the Sarasota and Bradenton locations could not move any slower. Last month I had to point out that one of my tires was almost flat. and last week on yet another rental I had to hook the trailer up myself because the guy in the yard never showed up. Ive been doing hurricane relief and reconstruction since it hit last October and am tired of dealing with such poor customer service form your people.

Having enough people to effectively run the operation is essential. I have been in this location many times and many different hours of the day. It is always understaffed. That said, the employee that goes by the name "Duck" is a great employee. He has never treated me with less than respect and doesn't succumb to the pressure of job demands, particularly the understaffing issue.

At this location on this particular day the manager showed very poor customer service skill while the co workers did a great job of trying to provide good customer service. The lobby was full of people maybe 12 plus some walked out because of the excess people waiting to be served. The manger coming into this situation went and sat down and ate breakfast with an empty computer to help get things moving along total disregard for the customers and when ask by the customer could he please help because everyone there were running 1 to 2 hours behind on their day schedule he became very rude and frustrated, saying he had to have his breakfast first and and with total disregard proceeded out the door into the yard bypassing the empty computer slot ignoring the amount of people in the lobby. Their were all kind of mishaps with the reservation from previous customer making them only to come in and find out the same trailers were rented twice to two different customer for the same day or a customer rent a pickup truck and trailer finding out they only have the trailer and had to reschedule for the following weekend. The sizes of the trucks for some customers wasn't right such as reserving a small truck but getting thrown in a much larger one for the same price per day as the smaller but had to put in more fuel than the smaller one. Needless to say it was a nightmare that particular day for everyone there expecting quality service but as I stated previously the regular workers did great jobs dealing with the situation and taking care of everyone as best they could with what they had available and everyone understood and commended them for that excellent effort, As I also previously stated the manger customer service skills were way below Uhaul standards I believe and only tried to help when confronted by fellow customers on why wasn't he helping his employees out of the situation, with over 14 people waiting for service and voicing their concerns and calling in to report his poor behavior and work ethics He later tried to help.As a,customer It shouldn't have taken people calling in and verbally expressing that they were unsatisfied with the service and and disrespect they received from him alone.

I find out later the U-Haul on 14th in Bradenton docked me at 5/8 of gas which is a lie because I was above 3/4. I already filed a complaint but nothing can be done since I didn’t take a picture.
