Returning equipment was so fast and East that we were really surprised...in and out in under 5 minutes...justin C.
We reserved the trailer in Ithaca, had to pick it up in Auburn. Staff was understanding of our time issue and having to drive an hour to pick up the trailer and gave us an extra day free. Only one small hiccup. Spouse picked up the trailer. He said the lights weren't checked by the staff. Realized when he got it home, one of the back lights didn't work. The next day we were headed to Syracuse so we stopped at a Uhaul in LIverpool to have it checked. Turned out it was a fuse in the truck rather than the trailer but could have been caught if they were checked. Overall, a good experience.John D.
No issues with the equip or pu (more or less-wrong truck assigned to someone else, had to change my agreement/contract, very complicated took a while but not a big deal) or dropoff, but I left my EZ Pass tag in the veh (my fault), tried calling very early next morning, on hold for almost 30 mins, finally got someone in a call center out west, couldn't connect me with the store, finally got me to the mngrs cell phone, left him a detailed msg to please call me back and let me know they recovered my EZ Pass tag. No rtrn call, tried calling back at least a half dozen times every half hour after waiting for well over 1.5 hrs, never could get a live person to pick up. Finally had to make time to drive from work to go to the store, mngr not in, frtntly the gentleman on duty found my tag under the counter. Again, my fault for forgetting it, still, bad communication issues. Glad it wasnt an emergency trying to reach someone there.Daniel H.

Well i was charged the $14 insurance twice, mileage twice, and paid $209 to use a truck for ten hours.....not counting the $30 in gas. Way more than the $130 agreed upon amount.Kathy W.

Customer service is terrible!!! Rented a trailer and was 15 minutes late returning due to a major traffic accident that delayed me for several hours. After making several attempts to call the store directly only to be placed on hold for several minutes. Finally made contact with someone at the local branch and he said I wouldn't be charged extra being that I was only going to be a few minutes late. Arrived at 7:15 and they were closed. Was billed for an entire extra day. This is ridiculous. It's not like anyone was renting the trailer after I left as they were already closed. Your wait times on the phone are unacceptable. Hire more people!!! Customer service is terrible!!!Scott H.

Auburn Uhaul has extremely poor customer service. It was even the manager who assisted us. He first off scrambled to throw his mask on when we walked in, mumbled the whole time and sped through directions, made hardly at eye contact. The cargo van smelled terrible of cigarette smoke. Got double charge because directions were unclear that we had to â€œcheck inâ€ our vehicle since we returned it after hours. It was our first time ever renting a uhaul, so this experience has made us hesitant to ever work with uhaul again. At least the Auburn location.Collin D.

Please maintain and service your vehicles. Due to your negligence in this (our vehicle had documented issues from July 2020 and Sept 2020 of the engine suddenly stopping) we were stranded roadside 60 miles from our home from 1130pm-345am in below freezing temps with no heat. Not only was our safety disregarded but other drivers as well. Our trip getting to our new home where our four young children were being cared for by my elderly mother was delayed by 14hrs. Uhaul made no authentic attempt to get us or our goods home in a timely fashion. We even told Uhaul we felt unsafe and no action was taken to get us to safety. We had to call 911.Even though we purchased the extra roadside assurance we were not assisted in a timely or efficient manner. Absolutely horrible experience-management is insincere and incompetent-even suggesting nothing was wrong with our truck. Interesting how two of Uhaul's service providers deemed it "unsafe/unable to drive" and ultimately towed the vehicle 3 times, yet we were made to feel we made our experience up. Rent somewhere else for your own safety. No ethics on providing safe vehicles to consumers or making it right with a customer. Did you really fulfill your contract obligations/roadside assistance assurance to us as customers?Ayham B.

I rented a truck and returned it within 4 hours. I did not understand that I had to check in with a phone app as I had done my paperwork in person and no one told me I would have to use my phone to return the truck. I was then billed $20. for not understanding the return policy. When I spoke to customer service they told me to read the contract and that I would have to pay the $20. Don't you think someone should have mentioned that I would have to do this or face a penalty?? I will never rent form UHaul again. Jon RobsonJonathan R.
I returned the van 2 days early, and was still charged more than the estimate. Each day was quoted as $79 per day. I was over on the mileage by 142 miles, and was quoted .29 cents for all miles over 2,000. How does the math work out that I owe $23.22?? Also the gas estimate was 12 gal to =5/8 tank. I put in 13..313 gal and I had to argue with the U-Haul clerk that it had 5/8 tank as he disagreed that it barely had 5/8 tank gas.Dean W.

If WE chose 8pm as our return time, but it would have been the exact same price if we chose it a few hours later then how dare you CHARGE US for being 20 minutes late. That's a real dick move. We are moving!! We don't know how to drive a 26 foot long vehicle!! We couldn't get anyone to help us move because we are in the middle of a PANDEMIC and people are being urged to social distance. We ran into a few issues. It took us longer than expected. It was a very long, stressful, frustrating 2 days. Tensions are high and we are exhausted. We were 20 minutes late to the time WE CHOSE, which is pretty damn impressive considering all the issues we ran into, and you charge us for being late. For all you know, I may have selected 8pm instead of 9pm on accident and didn't even realize. Or maybe my toddler pooped right as we were leaving. Maybe we had trouble maneuvering a house sized truck to the gas pump. Maybe my phone was dead by the time I returned the truck so I couldn't complete the free after hours return on your website. Bottom line is its greedy and not cool to charge a late fee when up until 11pm would have been the same exact price. You should be ashamed for being so greedy. I will absolutely never use or recommend this company to anyone, even someone I don't even like. You should also probably reevaluate your morals too, cheating people out of their money because they ran into issues and were 20 minutes late to a THEY selected. You're greedy and inconsiderate and you suck. Penske, here i come! Okay, end of rant.Kaitlyn S.

My understanding was that this was a true 6x12 trailer. Actually, the opening at the ramp is almost 12 inches restricted. I couldn't use the trailer (Can am motorcycle wouldn't fit), had to rent another landscape trailer travel 60 miles to deliver cycle, return the 2nd trailer, pick up the U haul and return it--200 miles + of travel. Questionable description of trailer and not even a mention of a refund nor certificate.Dennis H.

Truck wasn't swept out. The couple ahead of us was promised a vehicle that wasn't available due to someone making a reservation after them. They didn't get what was promised and the agent handling this did a very poor job. In fact if he worked for me I would have terminated him. (the agent) It left a poor image of this location with me. This place isn't the same since Don left the former manager (general?) This employee needs coaching in customer service.Melissa B.
