When I picked it up there was glass like someone broke a window but never cleaned it .. there was a cigarette burn on the passenger seat but didnt niyicebtill couolendays later cause noone was sitting there. unit was definitely not clean upon pick up, pictures were sent on inspection, and im not sure why a pre check in ins required, i still stood in line for 20 minutes waiting to fill paperwork out, i thought that this is why we do the online process, seems redundant, and trying to call the location to tell them i was v=bringing back trailer a day early, and i sat on the phone for 35 minutes the 1st time, then got hung up on, then when i called backed, i sat another 30 minutes, until i pulled into the location with the trailer, to find employees outside smoking & leaning against the building, wow... a smoke is more important than a customer with a rental. what if i was broke down on the highway?? brought back 1 day early, and i still pay for 3 days rental....John S.

Vehicle maintenance is terrible! The first unit I received had to be switched out because a windshield wiper fell off. There were no spares at the location - despite this being a consumable item. The second unit had intact wipers, but they were incapable of clearing the windshield. This is a safety concern. In future, I will be looking at all other possible vendors instead of U-Haul.David S.

I reserved 24 moving blankets at the same time as I reserved the trailer, but when I arrived to pick-up the trailer, 200 miles from my home, there were none available. The cost of the blankets was removed from my bill, but that didn't help my situation in an unfamiliar city. The counter person did check another nearby location, but they were also out. This was a mid-month move and to not have enough blankets available, especially when they were reserved in advance, is inexcusable. The customer service person at the location did what they could, but they have no control over the situation and they get to handle the frustration of the customer. For this reason, I would not recommend U-Haul.Bruce C.

Sadly, while waiting I had to witness an unruly and very ignorant male customer tearing into and swearing at the young lady behind the counter. The inside of the store appeared untidy and dirty. There was merchandise clogging the entire store creating an unwelcoming atmosphere. There was equipment littered everywhere around building. But, the young man that helped me with my truck, from when I first met him to when he took the truck from me at the end, was very helpful, knowledgeable, and showed great problem solving and customer service. He made up for my less than optimal rental experience. I wish I could remember his name so that he could get credit, but he was there at 13:45 when I picked up the truck and again at 18:30 when I dropped it off (if this helps find him).Stewart D.
When we arrived in Vancouver, we were charged 26.00 dollars for a truck wash. We were not told we had to wash the vehicle before returning. Also there was no washer fluid so we had to stop numerous time to put snow on the windshield while traveling through B.C. the staff at the Edmonton branch was fantastic. My U-haul Storage rental unit #1203 was broken into at 2:00 am. Your staff member (Nicole?) called me, and said the breakin was captured on video. Within days, she changed her story 3 separte time: 1st she can't sshow me the video due to 'privacy'. Then, the video camers weren't working. Finally, she said their ARE no cameras. This is unacceptable. I tried to close the unit rental contral in 3 separate visits to your office. 1st the staff didn't help at all (Sat. morning, young man was clerk). 2nd visit, a female staff (same one that phoned about the breakin) gave me a form to sign reliquishing my claim on any property therein, and closing the rental term by removing my credit card no. from the account (Oct 27). Finally, I kept getting emails from yyour service telling me that the rental that I had already closed was 'overdue' and you we charging me late fees on a contract that was closed. This has been a miserable experince, in which I lost thousands of dollars in property, was lied to and disrepected throughout by your staff (wyo by the way NEVER annser the phone, nor can I leave a msg), and I wasted dozens of hours trying to deal with your company on what should have never happened, if you ran a safe and secure facility. This is actually probably the worst customer service I've ever experienced, next to skip the dishes. I had some fraud on my debit card, so I needed to change the card on file. I tried called U Haul for 3 weeks straight, nobody would answer the phone. The card was declined and I was charged a late fee. I decided to cancel the storage at that point. After I moved out, I STILL couldn't get ahold of anyone. They would immediately put me on hold and sometimes even hang up on me. This location is an absolute joke. I loathe going inside because they have 1 incompetent person working the counter for a lineup of 20 customers. Oh, and there is often employees just standing around doing nothing when it's super busy.Matthew G. | Overall Experience
Your customer service at the rental center was excellent, staff was quick, polite, and very friendly. I applaud their efforts. The only NEGATIVE I can comment on is the central reservation system is very ineffective, they arrange everything only to find out from the local facilities they do not have the equipment available. Serious improvement needed. Your online confirmation system is terrible I tried at least 6 times with no success. I was so frustrated I called the local rental center and they took care of me. While I was picking up my rental today another customer was there to pick up their truck they had confirmation numbers everything from the system, the local office had no record of the rental or the confirmation. I rented a 10' vehicle in order to move a bed, mattress, box springs, coffee table, and a tv but as soon as I started driving the car I could tell the tires were not winter tires. As soon as I got to my destination the truck got stuck in the alley way where other cars were passing through with no issues. I was stuck for an hour and half and had to call my friends to come and aid me with pushing the truck out of the snow since the tires were not suited to drive in snow. I was only supposed to use the van for an hour as were I was moving was only 10 minutes away but the move ended up taking 2-and half hours and then I was charged for double the time when it was not my fault. If I would have gotten into an accident because of those tires I would have sued uhaul for renting out vehicles in Canada without winter tires.Rufaro M.

I was transfered to the location on kingsway and 113st, the Happy Mart and was treated very rudley as when i was on my way to pick up the trailer i was informed that the cost went up by $100 more than i was sent the contract for. When i questioned that i was told to go back to the 155 st location. I would never suggest anyone go to that location. Nor would I encourage you to keep that location as part of your franchise.Ken M.

The drop off location I was given on the website, and which was confirmed by a phone call with U-Haul before my move, was actually not in operation. After my household move from out-of-town, there was a snowstorm happening when I had to drop off the truck. Getting to the no-longer-open location, having to call two different U-Haul phone numbers (including being on hold for about ten minutes), then getting to another drop off location was a â€œrigamaroleâ€ I did not appreciate, especially during very inclement weather (though I don't mean to say U-Haul was responsible for the bad weather; it was a case of bad timing). Since resolving the drop off confusion took time I was apparently considered late dropping the truck off and I was charged an extra day's rental. I am currently attempting to get that additional charge dropped but the matter is not yet resolved.judy L.

Time to retire that truck. 172,000 miles; sloppy steering; weak brakes; mushy suspension; signal lights won't self cancel; just plain worn out. The gas gauge indicated the truck was full when I picked it up - the truck was NOT in fact full. I put 34.4 miles on the truck. It took 25.46 litres to fill the tank and when I returned it the gas gauge displayed exactly the same reading as it did when I picked it up. You rep would not give me ANY credit for the excess gas I put in the truck. If that truck does,in fact, get me money 5 miles per gallon, you really should just light it on fire. Won't be renting anything from you again. Really poor performance!Mark A.

Hunter Jackson was the staff behind the counter the morning I picked up the trailer. He was quite arrogant about my not having a cell that could up load my drivers license & was very put out about having to put on a glove to take it to do so himself. Did not care about his attitude or his treatment of me. I had stopped into this location to chat with staff about my rental & the process, etc. They were all most helpful & assured that all would be done with no issues. The gas gauge was at 3/4 tank. I only drove 13 miles, so not much gas was used. I put in $10 and fuel level was more than what I started out with and they wouldn't credit me for the overage. I shouldn't have put in any gas and they wouldn't have noticed. Hard lesson learned.Martin B.
Very long wait to be helped initially, only 1 person and 5 people in line. Upon being helped was told to go to tent to pickup trailer. Got to tent and waited 15 minutes, no one came to help. Had to go back in and ask for help again, then the guy called someone and prompted him to come help. Still took 5 minutes for guy to show up. Dropping off experience was lacklustre, same issue where there was no one there to help check in trailer. Took 15 minutes for a guy to come and help. Made me wait for someone else who arrived after me, to pick up a new trailer rental. Contract was not submitted when I left, no proof it was checked in when it was supposed to have been so I just had to rely on the person doing it to properly do their jobs. The female representative you had there stated that we could only have the truck until 6:45 a.m. because there were reservations on it, but yet when we dropped it off the gentleman told us there was no reservations on it and we could have taken it again but we would have had to pay the price we paid the day before again. All of the staff at the west end location were friendly helpful and gave excellent customer service. I couldn't lift the dolly's that we rented they loaded them into the vehicle for me, we ended up not needing to use them. The staff also unloaded them for me. It was a welcome experience as after dealing with the location at 11335 Kingsway avenue I was not wanting to deal with Uhaul again. If all of your employees were like your west end location your company would be perfect. I hope you give the employees at the West location the recognition they deserve, in my opinion they are the best workers in their positions, especially in these times.Brian W.

The main door was closed so we had to take out our stuff through the side door, which was tough but we survived. I left question 5 unanswered because no the facility could have been cleaned more often: washroom ,garbage,can with paper towels over flowing, toilet paper missing: however after I spoke to one of the fellow attendants , he saaid that people just take the roll with them- I'm aware that the human mind leaves much to be desired! you are off the hook on that one. Come prepared! Garbage at main doors left for days. I was at the facility U-Haul fairly often. Lots of garbage out in front of the truck rental check area- I even picked up some of the broken plastic totes. I would say room for improvement. simply assign someone to do a check every evening - would solve the problem. -always had trouble with the monthly payments, was locked out of storage locker monthly which was very inconvenient. Every error was on the side of uhaul -the area where the unloading zone for the storage lockers were was always totally covered in ice. Looks like it was barely salted or cared for -when I urgently needed access to my storage locker and was locked out, the following day I tried to call to sort it out at around 6pm, still an hour left of operating. Called the store the entire hour and NO ONE could answer. Just want to the call centre -seems like no one cares about their work here, unmotivated, not caring?
