I blew it. I did not realize until I got home that not all UHauls had a ramp. The ONLY reason I needed a Uhaul was to move a large copier and absolutely needed a ramp. The 10 foot truck I rented did not have a ramp, much to my surprise and dismay. I called the office and was told I could exchange the truck. HOWEVER, when I got there I was told I'd have to pay for the 10 foot AND a 15 foot truck. I had the 10 foot truck for 15 minutes and drove a total of 6 miles and could not use it for what I needed it for. Again, entirely my fault, but there should have been some accommodation when renting another truck under the circumstances. After spending $55 for the first truck, I decided NOT to spend another $100 or so just on principle. I'll figure out another way to donate this copy machine that doesn't cost me more money. It's hard to make a rating here - my initial experience was very good, but my experience in fixing my mistake was not good.THOMAS E.

Truck had rproblems and needed repair for rain comng in on passenger side of cabin. Not sure if the emplyee at counter made a note of this? Overall, truck was VERY NOISY and gas guzzling. I would not use UHaul in future. Will look for more updatd trucks wiht better engines for gas efficiency.NANCY V.

The only criticism I have is that one of the front headlights was out on truck I reserved, making maneuvering side streets that night a bit difficult. But beyond that, the truck was very useful and the support staff were great and helpful.JAMES S.

Vehicle was filthy inside cab. Cigarette butts and ashes in ash try and passenger door handle. Windshield was covered with bug splatter all over. Talked to the lady on the phone she stated â€œThe truck came in yesterday before you picked it up and I didn't look at itâ€ I called the west Hartford u haul store the day before I picked up the truck because I was concerned about covid and wanted to make sure the truck was cleaned and the a/c was working. This truck was horribly filthy inside!!! This shows that the lady doesn't do her job she didn't even look at the truck!!!! The truck had 90,000 miles on it. Steering wheel was crooked and shook when you drove it. There was no other truck available anywhere. I had to drive this piece of crap 1400 miles from Connecticut to Florida. I was told when I made my reservation on July 20 that U haul reserves newer trucks for long distance across country drives. This truck was so beat up I'll never rent from u haul again. I'll tell all my friends and anyone who will listen about this rental and not use u haul.Bryan H.

Excellent experience with great savings! This UHaul of West Hartford made everything easy - check-in and check-out were very fast!!! We had to store items for college dorm. Perks: a free month of storage, free lock, and indoor climate control was an extra bonus that allowed us to store more items than we were previously unable to store at an outdoor storage unit. I am a 60 year old woman who struggled alone, late at night, in the dark, in a sketchy neighborhood to return a van I had to pay $400 to rent for the day and I am disgusted with the way you do business! I was told if I waited until business hours to return the van I would be charged yet another fee because your employees would actually have to do their job?! So I struggled on my phone for 45 minutes being endlessly prompted to do what I feel was completely unnecessary for a customer to have to do when I just paid you $400!! You also charged me four different arbitrary fees which I find completely greedy and probably unlawful...You are the epitome of Corporate America, whose only goal is to pretend to care about the customer while steal ing as much of their hard earned money as possible! I rented this unit for six hours and I had it back an hour and a half before the six hours were up. I asked the guy in the yard if I had to check in and he said no it was all set and I could just leave. The bill was supposed to be $69 and I just received an email bill for $207.22 and it said that I had the equipment for three days which is a complete lie. Contract number was 21789269 and I want somebody to contact me and correct this bill immediately. My number is 203â€“7 10â€“4144. I was dooped. I filled up the gas tank and it was not moving the gauge. I had to refill again and when i dropped it to the location the gauge finally moved amd i had overfilled it.. thats basically stealing.. never will use uhaul again! CheataARLIND M.
My storage locker was broken into, I had to come all the way from NC to handle it, which cost me $1000. There were NO cameras in my hallway. I had insurance, through the company that handles U-Haul storage bin insurance. Their rating was terrible with the Better Business Bureau and had many many complaints, unbeknownst to me when I purchased and paid monthly for the insurance for quite some time. I only found this out when I attempted to file a claim after being robbed. The insurance company made it very difficult to even talk to a person, I was only able to leave a voicemail. The one time I was able to talk to a person my agent that was supposed to handle my claim was supposed to call me back, and never did. I was never even able to get compensated for my loss, some of which was irreplaceable to me. I lost approximately $3000 worth of items, along with sentimental values items. The staff at the West Hartford UHaul were always very rude and it seemed to be an inconvenience to them every single time I was there, or called. The only 2 exceptions were the day I came this month to pay my bill and a couple days later when I moved out. The staff on those two days were wonderful, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. I had a pretty horrible experience with this U-Haul facility overall, except for the two days this month I was there.deborah c. | Overall Experience
Arrived at the office to get key to unit and staff member said he will check the unit before he leaves to ensure there's no locked on it and it's available since they were having computer issues. Unfortunately I didn't have time to check myself due to timing and informed him that I will be back later. Arrived late afternoon with 2 cars packed with boxes to find out that the unit was locked and the items from the prior tenant were never removed. Scheduling was a MAJOR issue. I reserved an enclosed trailer over 2 months in advance. 72 hours before my pickup, I was told that the only trailer available was an open trailer. My milage was messed up and I was charged over $5000. I did not even have the vehicle for 24hrs. I was given a refund but I am still being charged over $600. My return was not processed at the time of return. It was not until I called for a receipt that the return was processed. This location then billed for for a day and coverage that was included in my original rental agreement. It took an hour on the phone to process this problem. I went to my unit to get something and there was a red lock on the door next to my lock. I went the office and was told I moved out. I had not and was very upset not knowing if my belongings were stolen. The person at the desk kept telling me I moved out. I have auto pay and and the last payment was 7/24/2021. He came down to the unit to see if my belongings were still there and fortunately the were. I was required to sign another lease with a new date and think my payments may overlap. He told me to come back and see the manager he couldn’t do anything. And couldn’t explain how this happened. What if my belongings we stolen or you sold or disposed of them?
