It's the second time I come to this location with a 20â€ truck reservation and had to be downgraded to a 15â€. The first time (a couple years ago) they just didn't have the truck I reserved and today the truck they gave me had battery issues. It's extremely disappointing to plan the moving day and have to scramble plans, friends that were willing to help because the truck you reserved and were expecting is not there or has issues. The guy at the location was helpful, but next time I cannot afford to use uhaul againBruno J.

You sent me a guarantee for a 20' truck which was then changed to a 15' truck without my consent. I spoke with customer service on your online chat support who continually told me I needed a "100%" guarantee in order for the guarantee to be valid, and deflected any time I made a point or asked a valid question by asking me to call a support number. I did not realize that guarantees were offered in percentages, my understanding was that when something is guaranteed it is guaranteed. Other than this, the experience was good. I wonder how others who had more to move than myself would be able to manage with a change in service like this after a guarantee has been provided to them.Camden A.

The U-Haul app is frustrating. Returned the truck last night around 1030 pm and logged into the app. Could not get passed the first page after entering the mileage and fuel level (it would not let me continue). After 30 minutes, I went to Reddit and found many people had the same problem and a Reddit user provided the fix. It's difficult to resolve any discrepancies on the fuel levels, as per my experience. Being charged a premium price for gas that you identify as 'short', and that you NEVER actually put into the vehicle, and then it looks like the measurement is not adjusted for the next customer. With this rental, I had a disagreement with the starting level, but when I returned to the office, only one customer rep was there and there was a line up of two people waiting. I simply went back to the truck and took a photo of the starting amount and hoped to resolve the issue later.Dianne R.

Vehicle not ready when we arrived according to the intake person. Yet a friend of ours, who works for U-Haul made the reservation. When given our friend cell number we were told the phones were working, no dial tone, yet he did received an incoming call then hung up. He had no idea as to how to use the scanner for the driver's lic. information. Personally he took too long to process the paper work and when we told him about the emloyee discount he did not include that in the billing. As for the truck, clean yes but evidence of serious damage that had not been taken care of due to the presence of rust. When returning the vehicle a BIOPIC staff member disagreed with the amount of gas the we replace. and then charged us a further $11.88. When we asked about the employee discount, again we gave them the employees phone number which they never called. Her response "we are not giving it to you". At this point we walked out and cautioned incoming people to be careful and told them how we were treated. Will I ever go back to U-Haul? You have three guess and the first two don't count.heather R.

Uhaul At the time of reservation, I asked the credit card on file be used when the primary driver checked in/out. This didn't happen and resulted in numerous delays and calls so the primary driver could get a card to use (his couldn't accept the full amount) The reservation date was April 19. On the 14, 16 & 18, I made numerous attempts to speak with someone to confirm the primary driver could check in/out because a mobile was needed and it was reserved under my number - I tried online chats, phone calls and email and all I was told is he needed to download the app. The app is a disaster. It is not user friendly, has poor functionality and we were not able to edit any details. When the truck was picked up, it had about 1/3 a tank of gas. The reservation estimated at least 250 km so we had to put gas in it before leaving for the new destination. The truck had a dolly and moving blankets - these are chargeable additional items that were not asked for or used. The driver side windshield wiper was NOT attached. DURING A SNOW STORM, DRIVING ON THE 401, THE DRIVER TURNED THE WIPERS ON TO CLEAR THE WINDOW AND THE WIPER FLEW OFF! The radio did not work when the truck lights were turned on. When I learned about the wiper flying off, I immediately called U-Haul. The first call said a minimum 15 min wait and I opted for a call back. After about 45 min, I called again and was told a minimum 30 min wait so once again, I opted for a call back. I then tried live chat, and when I minimized the browser with the chat so I could get information from another open tab, the live chat was ended by the rep and there was no way to reactivate. I tried road side assistance twice and we were looking at least a 3 hours wait to get the wiper replaced. This wait time was completely useless. The primary driver still had roughly 150km to drive to drop the truck off, pick up his own car, drive home and then work a night shift. I received one called back, roughly 3 hours after the initial call where I opted to receive a call back. It was a pointless call. I was told nothing could be done until the file was closed and all the person did was tell me to do everything I had already done. I was then charged $40 fuel fee even though the truck was left at roughly 1/3 tank, which is how we got it. We had to get gas twice. Based on the major safety hazard of no wiper in a snowstorm (plus the hazard posed to any driver the wiper could have hit), I don't think it's right that I be charged for the insurance or so-called safe drive fee. I do not think it's acceptable that U-Haul has not so much as acknowledged what happened despite the many methods of contact I used while searching for help and to make sure everything was documented.Justin C.

We showed up for our rental at 7am at the Waterloo location. We normally use the Fairway location. This was our 3rd rental in a month. There were many people outside. The office was not open. No one knew what to do. We all needed a truck. It was cold outside so we eventually gave up after 45 min. We went to get a coffee and decided to call uhaul to see what was going on. We waited half an hour on the phone to talk to someone.We made it back to the uhaul office by 8:15 and there was a long line up inside. It took us another 45min to get a vehicle. So we were 2 hours short on or move time. We were compensated for those 2 hours but then had to rush with the move.... When we said something,the response was a very casual, "Sorry about that guys". I'm guessing someone slept in that day. I'm a business owner... I was not impressed.Denise A.

The systems at this location are very old. I tried to split the payment via cash and credit card and they cannot do it. You either have to pay all cash or all credit card. Needless to say I was not told that and it was a Saturday so no like I could get my limit increased on the credit card and did not have enough cash on hand so I had to make a bunch of phone calls and ended up having to borrow someone else's card to get the U-haul. This is not good customer service. I have not been to any other establishment ever, where you could not split a payment. It would have been nice to know that before I went to pick up the trailer so I could have been prepared and not wasted time.Sherry W.

When I booked I selected one location. It was moved to a different location. This added kilometres to our order and based on paying additional by km was a but of a put off. Then because I booked at the one location it was a mobile pickup but the new location was open for pick up service. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time as I started the mobile pick up which didn't go very smoothly. That being said, the staff at the knew location were very helpful and accommodating. They get a 10 out of 10 from me. Online booking tool and change of location is a 5 out if 10. But no reflection on the staff at Colby Drive in WaterlooAziz N.
Be open on time, I was there at 750am for a 8am reservation that was suposto be for 12 hours, I didn't get my truck untill 840am and was told it needs to be returned by 5pm and my 12 hour reservation was not honoured, I also did not even get the rental for 9 hours as by the time the key was given I was leaving the location at 9am. No previous warning that this could happen. People with a 7am reservation were waiting at 8am because the store did not open on time so everyone was pushed back a hour. 10 x 15' storage was priced but only 10 x 14' storage was available in that location. Price was not reflected according to the smaller size and fixtures created to fit just under 15' of length would not fit in storage. False advertising there. Door had rusted out holes at bottom, door lift was so tight the door needs to be forced, and would not lock. Attendant drilled a third lock hole and bent the metal larger so the unfastened locking mechanism (rivets all rusted off) would actually lock with difficulty. Rented n be both a truck and a storage unit. Went to pick up the truck and pay for everything and the computers were frozen, app would not load on my iPhone, website crashed…. I reserved two storage rooms at Waterloo , Ontario branch. I was given two locks plus two sets of key for each lock. rent started 13th August lasted till 31ar of January 2021. paid 188.74 + 126.59 total 315.33 Cn Dollars per month which would be automatically billed to my Credit card on the 13th of each month. (paid till 12 Feb meaning I was charged 122.06 dollars extra) Having said that on last day that I wanted to move my belogings one of the locks was not working, meaning the keys I was given was not working on one of the keys. After being kept in cold for long time. I made them break the lock so that I can remove my items for which I had paid 1576.65 dollars to be kept in a self storage unite with pile of snow in front of the doors make it impossible to do anything. They broke the lock and charged us around 50 dollars ???? I have not had a chance to go and meet with Ethan the manager who was always responsive and accommodating (he was not there at time). Even though the actual unit was all fine, check-in fine, check-out with our truck was great - the people there at the time were all incredibly helpful, this was definitely a below average experience overall. We came on a day when it snowed a lot and the entire property hadn't been plowed at all - and this was at noon, it wasn't early in the morning or anything. We came back with the truck around 2 PM and it still hadn't been plowed, nor had our truck been brushed off before it was provided to us. This all seemed incredibly dangerous - again not complaining against anyone in particular or anything like that, and obviously we'll still use U-Haul, I'm just hoping someone will read this and consider re-thinking your policies. Trucks should be brushed off properly BEFORE you hand them off to customers. They shouldn't have to ask for snowbrushes and indicate which areas need to be brushed off (which is all of it). This is literally the law, and people who drive much larger trucks do this all the time - it's really unsafe that this isn't standard policy And then if you aren't going to plow, you need to at least shovel the entrance way and pull trucks up to it. Our truck was stuck at the entrance way and wasn't shoveled out properly - we wasted over an hour being stuck leaving and coming back that day, it was incredibly frustrating. We moved out in November. I went in personally to let the staff know that the unit was empty. I waited while he went to the unit to confirm that it was empty and clean. He was very pleasant and said thank you, and that I had to remove the lock and take it home. Since then I have received emails and phone call saying I owe more rent. The check in process was really confusing and took over 40 minutes (the wait time to be served was quick, but it took over 40 minutes for me to get checked in once it was my turn). I had already reserved the type of unit I wanted online, but I still had to explain what type I wanted and answer all the questions again that I had already answered online. I thought the free month of storage that I qualified for would be tied to my account and that the staff would see that when checking me in, but I realized I had to inform them about the free month. That part's not a fault of the staff, it's just odd that the free month, and all the info I had entered when reserving my unit, wasn't associated with my account when checking in. When reserving and researching online, I had read that you can make monthly payments online, but when I checked in I was told that the only ways to pay were automatic credit card payment or to come into the office to pay. Afterwords, I was able to confirm by logging into my account that I can indeed pay online monthly myself, which is great as that's how I wanted to pay, but I was surprised that this wasn't mentioned as an option when checking in. I understand that one staff member was new and still learning, and that it was a busy day, but even so it felt like I had to lead the check in process and remind the staff of what was needed (ie. that they would need to show me where the unit is and how to access it, picking up the lock I had purchased, etc.), based on my knowledge of having checked into a storage unit before. It was unclear when the sign up process was finished and whether I and UHaul had everything we needed in terms of documents, but I got my unit and when I checked my account online I can see the unit in my account so we must have got it all set up. The unit was not as clean as I was expecting, it had some dirt and what looked like white pillow stuffing/fluff from the last renter. A quick vacuum or sweeping prior to a new renter would go a long way. It would also be really helpful if there was a light in the unit to make it easier to see when moving in. Overall it was a confusing, long, and stressful check in process, but I eventually got access to my unit, and it was the size and type that I had reserved online.Rachel W. | First Impressions

There was an issue where I needed to change my lock bc the key was stolen and I asked the uhaul employees if they could help. that I have no problem identifying myself that I am in fact the one who rents the unit. They said no and I had to pay over 100 dollars for a locksmith. For then later me to find out the employee at the fron desk was wrong and You do in fact help in this case with identification and signature. Thats relaly really bad.... The other issue is I keep getting letters and emails saying that I owe for the next month when in fact I have moved out of my unit last month. It seems like your system is really behind and this causes alot of uneeded stress. My experience was greatly increased by the care of staff member Sydney Hutchison. She went above and beyond to ensure that I was well taken care of and was very knowledgeable and provided what I believe was beyond excellent customer service. She was very friendly to not only myself, but also to my wife and sister inlaw when they entered the main office to retrieve cold water for all those that were helping us to unload the truck into storage. It is staff such a Sydney that help make companies what they are. She is what made my experience what it was and why I have selected the highest rating I could. I rented a room for 29 months. During this time I drove to the facility and gave them a cheque before due date and either received a receipt then or email later. On two occasions I later received a late notice in the mail which I was chocked up about and would have to make a phone call to have it Cleared up.
