Despite a promise that a manager would get back to me regarding a serious leak in my rental truck, I received no communication and continue to wait on hold when trying to reach the location by phone. I filed several complaints through U-Haul and expected to hear from them. Disappointing customer service. Enough with the phone trees. There's just one bank of 3 desks there, no "departments."John R.
The tow dolly I was given had a taillight missing. The replacement dolly had a damaged tongue lock. I stopped after 6 miles & had to relock the tongue. After another 6 miles, I had to stop again to relock it. I ended up buying a tool to reposition the lock guard & lock. After that, the 500 mile trip went good.BARRY D.

Service was fine. The truck generally was OK but it had encrusted mud and sand on the right rear wheel area. This resulted in a wobble over concrete highways even after I used a wooden windshield scraper to remove most of it on the exterior of the rim. But I could not reach the inner rim which also was encrusted. This was nauseating in ride and unsafe to handle beyond 55 or 60 mph. Then I ran through rain and light snow in Indianapolis. The truck was fine thereafter since the mud had been eliminated by the moisture. A word for your rental sites: Be sure the wheels are clean of mud.GERALD P.

The main U-Haul location on 3735 Highland Rd, Waterford, MI was very helpful in transferring my reservation for a truck from Gus Oil Change an Lube to the main U Haul office as when I tried to login online, it showed I had no reservations, but I did! Gus's was closed on Sunday and U Haul assisted in getting me the truck I needed at their location. They were very friendly, helpful, and efficient>DONALD SAUL M.

I completed the application for the rental online almost 2 weeks ahead of time. It still took 26 minutes to get checked out in the morning. You can have the equipment ready when reserved. You have that guarantee but apparently it means nothing. When the clerk said the trailer was not there, I mentioned the guarantee and she just blew me off. She said it applied to "storage units only". The check in process took more than 45 minutes! This meant I only had the trailer for 5 hours instead of the 6 I paid for. This is totally unacceptable. When I questioned why the credit card machine read $60, she said just sign it and it will come up to the correct amount. These complaints are just the tip of the iceberg! I stood in line for 35 minutes as the employees made new friends with the customers in front of us. The line finally got so long that it went out the door. I don't know what they can do to go faster but I think laughing and joking might be one. Everyone was upset. The truck was old. I wasn't going to say much as long as it got me from point A to B. But as I drove it the truck seem to have a transmission problem. Like it was rearing high, would jerk at times on speed increase and the shift change was off. But again as long as I can take care of what I needed. But then my battery died. I don't know if the key didn't turn all the way or if I didn't turn the lights off but I had to get a jump. It wasn't horrible but I hope next time I can just get a better truck. The representative acted as if I was an inconvenience. The representative was rude. He told me not to do anything on my phone and he would take care of the rest. He did not politely ask he demanded. When I returned the van they told my boyfriend to just leave the keys in it and they would handle it later. This location is definitely not what it used to be as far as service. Definitely changed and unfortunately not for the better. Also, the pictures of the van when I picked it up were from when the van was new and clean. I made sure to make note of that when I submitted vehicle condition report when I picked up the van. In light of a pandemic that we are facing, maybe staffing could be an issue but when you have more staff doing other things than waiting on customers, it's not customer service oriented. I was given a vehicle that was defective which caused some cost discrepancies. Although the company split the cost of the mileage which I appreciate, but the gas gauge was broken which caused me to over fill my required limit. Better fluidity in communication between facility and Uhaul regarding what services are in the contract. Unaware I had contracted not only for the truck but also for a unit and moving personnel. No contact info was ever given from the website for the movers and they never showed nor did I have a way to contact them. My 4 month storage experience was positive. I would recommend the facility to others. Ann and Bonnie seemed were always around and were knowledgable and professional. My negative experience was returning the 19' truck I rented the first 4 days. I only saw this rental agent one time - during truck check in and he was really nasty when i asked to extend the rental one more day. I would describe his demeanor as abusive. I kept my cool and worked around the "issues" this fella had, but it left me feeling I was mistreated and had not been fairly billed. To this day I feel I was overly charged and had been 'tricked' into excessive truck rental fees. When I left I hired local movers. It was expensive, but I didnt want to have to repeat the U-Haul truck rental move in experience. The UHaul truck rental fees billed to my credit card "were shady". It would have been better however. I had to deal with a UHaul employee that wasn’t happy with me because I apparently wasn’t using the easiest entrance to unload. Number one it was my first time there so how would I have known. He just kept repeating himself and saying for future reference. I was already unloaded I wasn’t going to load my stuff back in the car to do it the way he wanted me to. He made my move in experience terrible. He called my phone and then said the same thing in person like seriously leave me alone. He kept saying it like I was stupid. He wasn’t trying to be helpful he was upset I didn’t use the entrance closer to my unit. I told him it was my first time there and he just kept saying for future reference, which by the way is rude. The only problem is there were not enough staff there helping customers. When I walked in there were 3 people ahead of me in line, 3 people sitting down that had already been helped and waiting on something before they could leave, and even with a reservation I still had to wait almost 20 mins to be helped. While standing waiting about 5 people walked in after me. It’s a small store and people were just standing everywhere. It just doesn’t seem like enough staff are on site to service the number of customers coming through. Otherwise the person who helped me individually was great!
