I reserved a truck for two different days to haul the equipment we need for a camp we put on for foster care kids. We have done the same thing for the last 15 years. Our first rental, U-haul contacted us prior to pick up to tell us they didn't have the truck we reserved. They gave us a truck and two trailers to replace the reserved truck. They forgot the the cable connecting their truck to their trailer so the trailer had no brake lights for the hour long drive. Our second rental, they had the truck and we asked that the driver's credit card not be used for payment and we would pay at drop off with our corporate card. The employees said they had already run the charge and were less than helpful when we dropped off the extra trailer we had been given to compensate for the missing truck the week before. They also did not give us a receipt when we dropped off the truck. We will be looking for other providers for our moving needs in the future.John B.

When we first got there, the key to our truck was nowhere to be found and the employees seemed at a loss at know what to do. I finally asked what the next step would be, so they got a different truck. That took about twenty minutes to figure out. Otherwise things were fine.srisa R.

My experience with U Haul overall has been a complete headache. I've moved from one state to the other and my containers arrived 2/3 days after the guaranteed date. Then it took Uhaul an additional 4 days to deliver to my house and then it took another 3 days for them to pick up the containers after they delivered them. Note that they had NO problem taking their money out ON TIME. Super frustrating overall!!Dominique T.

I turned in the 15 ft. truck and car dolly and furniture dolly. The office personnel were fine. Ten min later, I was phoned by UHaul and the woman told me that I returned the truck and accessories to the wrong location. I did not appreciate this call. She was not rude. I was told that I should phone UHaul when I reached Milwaukee, WI to determine where I should return it. The previous night, I attempted to return it at 17th & Center Street (closed) and 233 W. Center St. (closed) and 505 W. Capitol Drive (closed). I phoned the latter location in the morning, and was told that I could not return the truck there, even though it was the nearest location. I was told to return it to 1500 S. First Street, so I did this.PeterW P.

App experience was confusing by telling me to head to the back of the lot when my van was at the very front, I got lost and had to ask an attendant for help, it would have been really rough if I had picked up after hours haha. The young lady at the counter did not explain anything and she rushed through everything and then on top of that I was told that someone would come out to help me but I waited over half an hour in the pouring rain and nothing so I had to walk all the way to other side in pouring rain because trailer had more trailers in front of it. As I walk to office the young lady lady drove pass my laughing at me because I was soaked, this is unprofessional and on top of that I was over charged. Never again ill use uhaul.steven V.

The location isn't bad once I get there but your website is terrible to work with. I rent 2 to 3 times a year just to move patio furniture in and out of storage and buy lumber and I dread the process of going to the Uhaul website every timeandy L.

Awful service. I got charged $60 for a furniture dolly that I never received and now have to pay for the â€˜missing' equipment. Drove the truck 12 miles total and got charged $67 for gas fees. Absolutely ridiculous and never going back again. Word of mouth goes a long way for poor service and dishonest charges. Would not recommend the Walkers Point location to anyone.Timothy J.

I thought the inventory of moving supplies were adequate and the selection, cleanliness, and operations of the trucks were fine, however, the customer service and interaction were poor. I made my reservations online which was fast and simple. Prior to the move, I stopped by the facility to purchase moving supplies and the front desk didn't seem to be managed by anyone. No one was around to ask questions or to ring up my purchases until I checked an office/break room area asking for help. When I went to pick up my vehicle, the person waiting on me was neither friendly nor helpful. Once I was assigned the truck, I was told that I had to find it somewhere in the lot. The only positive interaction was the ease of returning the truck. I just had to wait in the equipment return line behind one customer and was instructed to turn the truck off and I would be emailed a receipt. I strongly suggest management addresses the poor customer service at this location because from my recent experience, if not for the decent availability of trucks, the overall experience/service would have been â€œpoorâ€ instead of â€œbelow average.â€ The bright side of the experience was the part not directly managed by UHaul who just facilitated the payment. I needed moving help and thru the website was able to select and use Motivated to Move LLC â€" they were excellent. Called to confirm a week before the move, showed up on time, and completed the pick up, move and unload if my daughter's one bedroom apartment to a non-UHaul â€œpodâ€ facility for cross-country transport. I had a need to use 2 â€œpodsâ€ or â€œcubesâ€ and coordinate transport from Milwaukee, WI to NJ. After seeing the poor quality of the wooden UHaul cubes (resembled a poorly constructed wooden shed), I opted for the higher quality metal U-Pack Relo Cubes operated by ABF. Additionally, the U-Pack/ABF Customer Service both on the phone and in person were excellent.Vince B.

Customer service was sub par, the employee who attended to me when starting the rental process was visibly annoyed at having to help a customer, up to and including making sarcastic comments about the way I requested to rent a motorcycle trailer, rolling her eyes in distain at my phone number, and a general lack of professionalism (arguing with a CO worker in front of customers regarding her unnecessary comments), upon checking equipment out the trailer had it's right rear light out, and the gate was bent to the point the latch pin had to be beaten in place, upon return I had to unhook and park the trailer for the yard guy who was obviously over worked and under staffed, entire rental process was frustrating,Jack B.

Initial rental clerks were rude, unaware of details like "tax exempt" rentals. Chided me for "being late" when I reserved for "Afternoon pickup" (came in a 1330h). Basically threw the key at me and told me where to go find it. Return agent was only slightly better, also never heard of "Tax Exempt" rentals by State agencies. I did not want to wait for an hour while they attempted communication with "headquarters" as they got on indefinite "hold" and said I should fight about the tax exempt with home office. The vehicle however was excellent (<20,000 miles), drove well, perfect physical structure with low bed and many doors.russell C.

Had truck that needed maintenance....had barely a quarter tank of gas, had a drivers side mirror that would not hold its position for safe operation and rear drivers side tire had low pressure alert . I was charged 99 cents a mile, plus $30.00 fuel surcharge, which was disappointing! First, our designated building had no carts for us to use. Second, The staff gave me a unit that already had a lock placed on it. I called for help, waited 20 mins, but was on a tight schedule so went to start moving things in. They left because "no one was there" - we called them to come back and remove the lock, while we waited we everything into that unit. When they finally arrived, they said they couldnt help me. She gave me the wrong unit and I needed to move everything to a new unit and n a completely different building. This not only made the already stressful moving experience more stressful, but it wasted about 2 hours of our time and energy because of the staff error and lack of attention to the issue when it occurred. For the trouble of moving everything a SECOND time, they said they would give me a free month of rent and we agreed. When I went to verify the free month they said they will actually only give me 20% off, but couldn't verify that this actually happened. Overall, very poor service and attention to detail. I can't confirm if I have actually received anything back for the issues but I wanted to communicate to this to hopefully avoid this issue for anyone else. After already moving into a unit, it is unacceptable to make someone move again. The issue should have been caught and remedied immediately, hopefully it will for future patrons! The facility didn't seem to be very clean. We visited our storage unit several times within two weeks and the same garbage that was laying there when we got there was still laying there outside the storage facility when we left. I've rented from Uhaul for every single move. This was the first year that I experienced such poor customer service. From the truck I had requested not being available day of (and the staff struggling to think of a solution for over half an hour) to my storage room move out not being processed for over a month. I was sent emails and mail threatening to put a lien on property in the storage unit despite moving out on the 11th of November. I tried calling the Walker's Point location multiple times and was always redirected to the Corporate number. Customer service reps for Corporate sent the Walker's Point location emails to tell them to get in contact with me, but they never did. Finally, I got a final bill yesterday reflecting my move out within the free month, no mention of late fees or anything. I assume it is because the staff finally took the time to actually go to my unit and see that it was cleaned out and empty. I will not be using Uhaul in Milwaukee for future moves. The only good thing you have going for you is being cheaper, but I would gladly pay more money to avoid the headaches I experienced this time around.Madeline O. | Overall Experience

Staff is very unprofessional. Don't talk to your customers like they are your friends. Be compassionate when someone presents a problem to you, instead of acting annoyed that you have to follow up, respond to customers emails in a timely manner, allow customers to call the actual store itself if they need support. Found a roach on my belongings (how often are you exterminating?) Also, was charged for the month of December even thought my belongings were removed before the end of November. Spoke to the manager who said he would take care of it, still waiting for my refund…Just overall a ghetto experience. Getting the truck was fine, but the storeage location was a problem. 1st they rented me a store that was already rented. I didn't find out til we were there with a truck full and couldn't unload. Then they switched the rooms but I had to get a smaller room. From 10x15 to 10x10. Then I go with 2nd load and the card doesn't work on it's after hours so I had to keep the truck overnight for another night to have the card fixed so I can get into unload the truck. I had to upgrade my original reservation to a larger unit to store my belongings. When I got to my larger unit, there was a massive pillar in it which takes up a great deal of space that I needed. I didn't have the time or energy to go back and change units AGAIN as I was on a time limit to get things done. I reserved a certain storage unit in Advance, When it was time to put my belongings in storage, My size unit was no longer available. I was offered two mini units because nothing else was available. There for, I had to go across town to a different location that was more expensive as well. The fact that I traveled across town, would mean, I'm paying more for milage and gas as well. I just got done moving to Milwaukee with my rented UHaul truck. When I arrived the front desk setup my access key to the wrong building so I had to go back to the front desk to get the correct access key for my storage unit building. As I open my storage unit there is no lock in there so I had to go back up to the front again to get the lock. In the process I received an email my reservation was canceled. When everything was moved into the unit, I dropped off the truck with a gentleman working with the UHaul drop offs. The people we spoke with were very helpful but the office hours of only being open until 7 pm were very inconvienient as we had been packing all day and showed up to check in 10 min before close. My experience was also poor as the key card I was given after checking it, when swiped to open the door, gave the message "not valid please check in" or something like that...right after I had checked in about 20 min previous. We got lucky and someone walked out and we went in and when opening my storage unit an alarm went off probably because the system didn't know we were in there. Lastly, turning in the truck was an absolute pain because there was no obvious area on the website to turn in the truck as we were there after store hours. I watched your informational video and the "return your truck" button was no where to be found. My girlfriend eventually figured it out but this was after about 45 min of googling things and attempting to call the help line only to be on hold the entire time. The whole experience was terrible and I am also fairly sure I was charged twice for the truck because when turning it in I had to put in my card information again for some random unknown $71 charge after already paying $62 to innitially rent the truck. This payment has yet to show up on a bank statement so I am unsure if it has gone through but if it does there will be an angry phone call. Overall the customer service was amazing and the people were extremely nice and very helpful and made the rental process very easy, but nearly every other part of the experience was ridiculously stressful.Paul D. | First Impressions
