Initially I had an extremely hard time with this rental. I originally made a reservation for a 10 foot truck with a car dolly for a one way trip from SC to TX. When I called the day before the move to confirm that everything was still on schedule I was told that there were no 10 foot trucks available for one way moves. I was told that I had been "upgraded" to a 15 foot truck at no extra charge. Here is where the problem started... I did not need a 15 foot truck, and the only reason that I had "reserved" a 10 foot truck was because it was the smallest vehicle that UHaul allows for towing the car dolly. I was only moving a few things and a van would have been perfect, but understood the policy so I got the 10 foot. When I complained to customer service I was told that the nearest 10 foot truck was over 25 miles away and there was nothing more that they could do because I had been "upgraded" to a bigger truck. I explained to customer service that it wasn't fair that I should have to drive an extra 50 miles when I had made my reservation for the 10 foot truck more than 2 weeks in advance. I also explained to them that "GOOD" customer service would have involved (at the very least) me getting a phone call in advance to let me know the situation so that I could have made other arrangements if I needed to. Anyway, I was passed on from representative to representative until someone found a truck that was only 8 miles away, so I agreed to go and pick it up from there. On the day of pick up, I decided to call the location an hour before pickup time just to make sure that everything was still good. Well, I was told that the person who was supposed to drop off the 10 foot truck had called in and extended their rental for an extra day. Again...I was not called by anyone to tell me that the truck that I had reserved was AGAIN nit available. Imagine had I had someone drive me to pick up the truck and then found out it wasn't available. Obviously I was livid with UHaul and the total lack of customer service and customer care. You even have on your answering service that you will be recording the call in "order to keep your promises". It wasn't until after being on hold on many different occasions for several hours total; that I was able to FINALLY speak with someone who at least seemed to care and understand about customer service. Phil Page, the local Field Service Rep. gave me a call and actually listened to what I had to say. He then looked in my file and saw where I was NEVER contacted by Uhaul to inform me of any changes. He accepted the responsibility and apologized. He told me that he couldn't make me any promises, but he would see what he could do and get back to me within an hour. When Phil called me back, he said to me "Mr. Bowling I've arranged for you to pick up your 10 foot truck at your original location tomorrow morning". This may nit seem like much, because I know that UHaul is a huge company and I'm just one of probably tens thousands of people that you had to deal with that week. But because of Phil going above and beyond, he turned what would have been a horrible message to all of my friends, family, and anyone else who would listen, into a great story about a guy at Uhaul who still believes in "GREAT" customer service. If it is at all possible, please recognize Phil Page for a job extremely well done.

My experience, unbenongst to me started the day I rented. I was not informed that the storage unit was not at the same place the drop off unit was. The staff at the Uhaul on Grove Rd did not inform me either. There were weird vibes so before leaving the 4x8 cargo rental where the cust serv rep told me to leave it, I called the general customer service line. they worked everything out and informed me of everything. I was not to be charged for anything else other than the rental and free month storage. So, now that all my stuff is in this storage unit on Grove...the key card they give me NEVER WORKS. from the very first time. I cant get in or out. I had to visit my storage unit several times and each time the reps were slow and unwilling to assist in getting me in or out of the gate. A cust serv rep ended up giving me a code *2425#...one of the cust serv reps came up to me and insisted I inform him who gave me the number so he could find the breach in the system. Luckily the last time I went to gather all my things, the gate was open. I packed all my things and took them to Public Storage. This was such a bad experience.

I had been scheduled to a different location, I mapped the routes I would take and drove them, I interviewed the people I planned to rent from and was comfotable with the arrangements. Late that note I learned the pickup location had changed, I found the people indifferent, doing just enough to get by, and wholly assuming I'd rented from them before many times and fully understood what they expected of me. I didn't, and was scolded for going the wrong way to find my rental vehicle. Uplon return, I missed the 1/4 full mark by the tiniest margin and was denied the credit for returning it with a tiny sliver of white showing at the top of the needle indicating 1/4 full. For my 38 miles driven and a contract stating the vehicle could be expected to get 12 mpg, this vehicle with 177,811 miles on it delivered only 8 mpg. I put in 5 gallons, confident that I'd be well over the specified minimum. When I commented on it to the attendant, I got an indifferent shrug and a comment - that's just the way we do it.

The wait time to pick up a vehicle

Charged me for gas. Said I used 5.3 gallons of gas to put a little over 3 miles on the truck!!! So, roughly A HALF MILE PER GALLON OF GAS. I could not even see the difference on the gas gauge. What a bunch of crap. Had the truck just over an hour. This particular store has gotten horrible over the last year.

Been almost 2 weeks and money has not been released and they say they don't see it pending. So instead of 150.00 charged I got charged 300.00 and no one sees the pending charge. Will never use haul again or recommend them to anyone

my truck broke down, I called them after I left and got 10 miles away because the truck was wining and wouldn't go over 30mph, never got anyone to answer the phone. I was loading medicine from a medical facility and had a short window to have it moved back to the freezer it came out of... really disappointed in the equipment rented to me.

I'd start by saying I'd really like someone to contact me about this. My experience was horrible. It started off by having to wait in line for 30 minutes. I was in a building full of people with no safety being taken. Only 1 employee in a mask and customers coughing and sneezing without mask on. After waiting in line I'm with an employee who lacked any motivation to try and greet customers with a smile. I was treated as if I was a number. I told to go outside and wait for an employee to come out and get my trailer hooked up. I was then given a DISGUSTING trailer. I understand it's a trailer but it was covered in mud. I was then told “make sure you bring it back clean otherwise you'll there's a cleaning surcharge”. I was legitimately baffled by what I was being told after seeing this trailer coated in mud. I bring it home and spent an hour cleaning it to the point of being usable. I'm in the process of moving my house and by no means would my items have been put in this trailer unless it was cleaned. Please contact me about this, as there is more to tell of my situation.

I had to find a moving truck at the last minute to clean out my parents apt I have always had great experiences with Uhaul so I called a few but they had nothing and I tried here on Grove Rd and they had one available ready for pickup at the time they told me to come and it was quick and easy. Returning the truck was a easy process as well. I'm not sure what her name was who reserved the truck for me but she was very pleasant to work with Jeremiah was also very nice when we picked up the truck he cleaned it up and we was good to go

Was the third uhaul location I went too due to not having a truck available. Finally after 2 hours of driving around got a uhaul. Probably won't use in the future . Very unprofessional. Not a good way to do business.

Your WEBSITE needs work. I was not able to use early check-in because your site refused to upload my driver's license. So, I went in person to the chosen location. Good thing I did, because, even though I had a confirmed, guaranteed, $50 back reservation, I was informed that the location would not be open the day of my pick up. They said I could try another location. Good luck. I went, in person, (since the online system seemingly doesn't work) to my preferred U-haul location (they were already sold out of the equipment I needed) and they very kindly moved my reservation to a shop that had a trailer in stock. Service at this new shop was excellent and I was on my way in short order. However, after loading my equipment, I experienced a flat tire on the return trip. Again, the WEBSITE failed to function and I was unable to place a service request. I used the 800# and after a very extended wait time, a service truck was dispatched. We won't go in to the 20 minutes it took me to describe my location on a major interstate next to an exit #. I was informed by the service truck, that the trailer's axle had come partially loose from the frame and that had caused the flat tire. This defect had apparently been there when I picked up the trailer, as the flat tire exhibited wear marks indicating an axle alignment issue. They wished me good luck. After repair, I went on my way at a very slow pace, hoping to get home without another incident. It was only after I unloaded my vehicle from the trailer that I saw just how dangerous the trailer was. The two axles, supposed to be parallel, were actually sitting roughly 15 degrees off from parallel. Upon return of the trailer to U-haul, they did NOT ask if I had had any problems. They simply took in the trailer and said thanks for the business. I pointed out the axle alignment and the wear marks to the brand new tire that were identical to the blown tire. The employee said thanks and another shop would make a repair. Little more than a shrug of the shoulders. So much for a very dangerous situation.

Was charged a $20 cleaning fee for a small empty box that was left in the uhaul. Also over charged for gas used. I drove less than 10 miles and uhaul charged me for 2 gallons of gas. Was not satisfied after paying for day use only. Felt like they got one over on me.

Messed up my contract by putting incorrect mileage and then unwilling AND unable to fix the contract so I had to wait for over an hour while they tried to solve the problem. Windscreen wipers were worn and staff would not assist me loading my vehicle onto the Auto transport. Will not use UHaul again.

Well...at the Uhaul website I was led to believe that taking the truck to Panama City and dropping there instead of Port St Joe, Florida I would save $125.00. When I arrived at the Uhaul store that all changed, had to take the truck to Ft Walton Beach. More that the original quote to drop in Port St Joe. $395.00 was my cost as opposed to 283.00 if I dropped in Port St Joe. I have been in the automobile business 45 years and this was the worst case of bait and switch I have ever witnessed. Never will use nor receive Uhaul!

worst service ever. Only one person working when picking up truck. Slow service (if that's what you call it), credit card machine not working correctly. Took me 30 minutes in line to pickup my vehicle and another 45 minutes to drop it off. It took me less time to use the truck that the time I spent waiting in line.

The grove road location was horrible. Some guy called me and asking was something wrong with the truck as if I had done something to it. Things happen which make it hard to return exactly on time. I was a hour late. There was barely enough room to pull the truck in without being out on the main road. When I walked in the two men working were on their phones and neither greeted me. I had to say " do I give the keys to you?" He said yes and then asked where the truck was parked. Very unprofessional and poor customer service.

#4. Usually the staff is helpful and friendly, but it depends on who is working. Sometimes, certain employees are not as friendly. My only other complaint is that I have a key card for the gate that I was given when I rented my original unit 100 which no longer works since I closed the second unit 123.

The staff was friendly and the carts inside the storage building are great. Our only problem/complaint is that the map of buildings and storage units given to us was NOT correct and therefore, we had a very difficult time finding our unit. Otherwise, all went well.
