Yard workers were more interested in their phones than doing their job. I had to park and unhook a 6-12 enclosed trailer by myself. Worker just pointed his finger and walked away. Obviously some training needs to happen.Ken G.
These negative comments do not apply to the desk/yard staff. The staff were calm, patient, and as helpful as they could possibly be in a situation where there were no vehicles available and a long line of angry customers. However, I can't believe what terrible business practices uhaul has. After "guaranteeing" a vehicle online, there were simply no vehicles for any of the long line of people when we got there. Apparently several vehicles were overbooked, broken, or missing. While an occasional broken vehicle may be unavoidable, the company needs to be flexible enough to be able to absorb the unexpected. Uhaul needs to seriously improve its fleet management.KATHRYN F.

An actual walk through with the customer. Truck was dirty and had lots of scrapes, holes, dents etc that were not made aware to me. They forgot my furniture blankets that I paid for. I Couldn't afford to go back and get them. There was less than a 1/4 of gas when I was told there would a 1/4 tank. At least $15-20 of extra cost on my end. I was definitely overcharged, my quote was just under $100 and I paid almost $150. Only good thing was the guy that helped me was funny and a good employee but between shoddy equipment and being overcharged I am very disappointed. Would not recommend your company to friends. Truck leaked water and destroyed a bunch of our boxes. It was dirty and very poorly maintained. The facility is dirty and staff seemed very disorganized.Graham R.
i generally have good experiences, but i was recently provided a truck with a slowly leaking tire. not really acceptable to fill it up and pass it on to the next customer, be it another customer or uhaul themselvesJACOB B.
The computer system was down when we arrived to pick up our reserved vehicle. The vehicle was there, the key was there, we had uploaded the required check in materials but we were not allowed to take the vehicle because the â€œ systemâ€ was down. We were one of three customer groups trying to pick up a vehicle at the end of the business day. The store was about to close and we would have had to leave and return at some unspecified time later in the night to pick up the key at a lock box. Very inconvenient as we did not have a car. Fortunately, the guy at the shop hung on with us till the system was back up and had us on our way 1 hr after our original pick up time- but we were extremely grateful for the extra time and effort he have because it was cold and raining outside- I would never have forgiven Uhaul if we had been sent away without the reserved vehicle. A near disasterous experience saved by the front line staff that made a bit of effortElinor S.

Another brutal and last ever experience with Uhaul. I just returned the truck and was charged $70 in fuel for 6 kilometers. How is that possible. This is the second rental in a row that I booked a dolly and I was assured it would be there. It was not. I have never received such poor service 2 times in a row. My number is 250-571-0672. If someone wants to call me and talk about reimbursement that's fine. Otherwise I am going back to Budget. Never had this kind of grief with them. Pathetic.REGINALD S.

It was very frustrating to not be able to leave my car at the facility, nor to leave it nearby as apparently it is quite a high crime area and vandalism is a huge issue. I did not know this and had I known in advance, I could have made advance plans. Staff were calm and pleasant. It was virtually impossible to do a 360 walk-around of the vehicle to check it out beforehand as they were parked cheek- in- jowl. It would have been nice for staff to pull the vehicle out and do the walk around with me, as is done with car rental places. The snow in the parking lot made manoeuvring very difficult. I always find having to leave the tank at 1/4 full awkward and a little cheeky. Full tank at pick up and at leave off is much easier and takes the guesswork out of "how much do I put in to get to 1/4 tank"?KARIN B.
The reason I send equipment isn't maintained The knob for the window to roll down was missing The power steering was very difficult to turn even when the truck got moving The truck I was driving was extremely hard on fuel. I rented the 26ft truck 3 Times previously and only spent $50 in gas. Even though I want some extra miles I put in $125 to keep it topped up to return. The truck I was driving the cargo light didn't work at all nor did the interior light for the van. This van needs some work and the next time I rent I will not rent this particular truck. Overall Uhaul is amazing and I will use Uhaul for all my moving.FRANCISCUS K.
The side windows and mirrors should have been wiped so that I could see to back up. All the measurements, speedometer, odometer invoice are in imperial rather than metric. In Canada the official measurement should be used.DOUGLAS D.

My reservation was wrong. Had me in to pick up truck at 9 P.M.. why would I pick it up 2 hours after the location closed. 2 windows to check in but only one in operation on the busiest day of the month. Reserved appliance dolly and furniture dolly but was told they are first come first serve. Why would you ask customer to reserve if they are not available. Had vehicle parked on busy downtown Victoria street. Once loaded and ready to go unload the truck would not start. This Uhaul experience was the worst ever and I will probably not rent from Uhaul again.REGINALD S.

The first Cargo Van that was rented to me had a smashed out rear window, had the go back in and exchanged the Van. The staff was very unstaffed and doing there best with the amount of people that were in line. Some customers were upset and rude but your staff handled it very well. My reservation was for 10am and with the very long waits and having to exchange the Van I spent over an 1.5 hours there, with the reservation they should have accommodated a new drop off time. Car in Canada must metric. Ours was all Miles and Gallons. Customer service was poor; no smalll boxes left, no one to help, huge lineup on Dec.31st, only one person to serve. No snow chains available to rent, we got stuck in the snow, No reasonable visitor parking on site. Total charges way over basic offered price, due to excessive costs per km. Apparently the management has changed and we did not appreciate that you very obviously onle hire East Indian people. Customer service was such that we did not really feel welcome.Peter L.

At the end of the month, try to have more than one person working on the tills. Clean out the trucks so they are not full of the last customer's dirty moving blankets. Make sure the window rollers have nobs on them, and make sure the cargo lights work. That said, the staff were friendly and helpful.TREVOR G.

The location and 1 of the employees I dealt with there were top notch, but the overall experience with the booking website and returning were absolutely terrible. I filed a complaint on Wednesday, and it was supposedly supposed to go to someone named Bradley, the UHaul rep for Victoria BC, but haven't heard anything back from him. Which is making this experience even worse. I will file another complaint if I don't hear from someone soon.SEAN T.

We waited a really long time for service. Then, even though we had reserved *and* checked in online, we still had to give our names and phone numbers multiple times, so it doesn't seem like there was any point in the online check-in. Finally, the moving equipment that I had reserved, a dolly and moving blankets, was not provided. Mask wearing protocol was slack. What was good was that the truck was very clean, and the damage reporting by phone worked. The person at the counter gave us an extra hour on the rental to make up for the long wait for service. The return went smoothly too, so overall things went OK.MARC D.

Your equipment is very good as well as your selection of moving supplies. Your pricing is also very good. The customer service is poor, there is usually only 1 person serving customers resulting in long line ups. I was going to return boxes that I didn't use and after a half hour in line I just gave the boxes away.Donald M.
I have rented here several times and each time they are completely unorganized. This time the truck was not ready, then they could. Or find the key, they did not have clean pads ready or did they have either of the two dollys that I had ordered. This is probably the most unorganized business I have ever used in Canada and I am not one to normally complain. The customers in front of me said the same thing. This place really needs a manager to get things in order. If it was not the only truck rental in town I would not have rented there from my last experience which was similar.JAMES D.

I waited in line for over one hour for service then to be told that I could not have that hour back once I leave with the truck as it took my scheduled time to get to the front. So I would get less time with the truck I paid for plus I was told the vehicle wasn't even ready so they gave me a different one. I doubt I'll ever use U Haul again after this.Johnathan B.

We arrived to pick up our rental trailer and could not get it because the previous renter had deficated in it and no one on site wanted to clean it and they didn't have another to give us. We had travelled from Mission to Victoria to move our daughter home from university and were on a limited schedule with non-refundable ferry reservations.Rodney M.

Truck can was not clean and the cup holders were full of water or some liquid. I ordered packing blankets but no one helped me with them and just told me to grab them from a pile of used blankets. Gas was not full and I put in gas but was charged fuel anyways saying there was more in it. Not a good experience.Paul R.

I had the uhaul break down. It took 2 1/2 hours to get assistance. The employees were polite, but that is a long wait. They were going to get the FULL uhaul towed to the new location, but we didn't get the keys until the next day. It was going to be parked at my house overnight. I insisted to send someone who could try and fix it and after lots of pushing, they sent someone, he jumped it and all was okay. Once dropping it off, I was charged full cost. Plus $50 for fuel. I refueled to 1/4 of a tank but the check in guy said it was off and charged me. How am I suppose to know at the pump how much to refuel. Its done like this on purpose, seems in poor taste for customer service. There also wasn't any orange triangles or anything to put on the road to alert traffic to go around me while broken down for 21/2 hours on a main road. So overall. Not good.Marika R.

We had a 30 litre gas ration , picked up tuck only 1/4 full , going to Alberta , makes driving a big truck a concern, no windshield washer fluid ,poor wiper blades ,winter tires but not much tire tread ,no snow brush in truck The gas was marked 1/4 but was actually a little bit lower , when I returned the truck insisted I had to put gas in it Because of gas ration , Hiway closures and detour was late returning the truck ,maybe a little bit of a break would have been niceDAVID S.
Took way to long to rent a unit. I have rented many times and this was extremely long. The lady said she had been up all night didn't sleep and could not function properly. Had to get someone else to help and had to wait many times as she could not figure things out on the computer. The. I find the new system difficult and impersonal. I did not enjoy having to do the walk around on my own in the dark, I would much rather have had someone with me. I did not find the staff at the desk particularity friendly and they seemed to think I ought to know how the new system worked without explaining it to me. Dropping off using the app was also much less pleasant than having someone with me. I may look for somewhere else to rent in the future.ELIZABETH M.

Found out after I paid that my unit was on a second floor with no elevator and I had my move large furniture by myself (which would have been less dangerous with an elevator). Had to go back to customer service 3+ times because attendant did not give me access card, did not tell me how to enter the building, just did not seem to be focusing on what he was doing.
