Go back to filling the gas tank up . I calculated the usage of Mpg and put abit more gallons of gas in then I shouldve needed,but because the gas guages are small on these trucks its easy to have discrepancies. I did not take a picture of the guage so I couldnt argue it .But in future I will definitely be checking and taking a picture of it. Charged me an extra $20.00

donnie murphyI called and asked for the 6x12 trailer, and explained that I’m moving a side by side. When I get the trailer home, the trailer is only 57” wide and can’t fit a 60” side by side. I should have checked before leaving, but also they should advertise the trailer as a 6x12. The worker at the desks defense was that I never said what I needed the trailer for, but I actually did, twice. She also went on to explain this happens all the time… well maybe something should change, such as the description info of the trailer online, or even just a reminder over the phone that when the gate opens, it’s not actually 6’ wide. I had the trailer for maybe 1 hour, to just travel and realize it wouldn’t work. But I still had to pay.

Nancy Pelkey | Overall ExperienceThe truck was fine and the check in was good however I rented a fridge cart and that was poor. When I arrived at my loading site I found much to my amazement both wheels were off the unit . There were no cotter pins or washers to hold the wheels on!!!! After finding a couple of nails to substitute I then found that there was a ring missing to tighten the strap on this cart. We managed to get by using a rachet strap . When I returned the cart to the location of the rental and got a replacement there was no effort to give an explanation for the poor condition of the equipment or even an apology or offer to not even charge for the broken equipment just meh here’s another cart. To top it off I got to the delivery site and the replacement unit had the strap almost cut in half much weakening it . I guess it’s buyer beware and check the equipment before you leave the location. Poor image to present if I had have been someone less innovative this could have been a disaster. The location has a poor attitude about the equipment and with the rates you charge everything should be tip top. The Truck was good but If I can’t load it because of a faulty hand cart that’s poor service in my opinion also the general lack of customer satisfaction and caring left me cold. I probably wouldn’t recommend this location if there was another choice.

I tried calling numerous times the next day to make sure everything was good to go but the calls kept being directed to the main number or placed on hold and never came back to.

David SpencerThe only thing that I can say is good was the one employee that started a couple of months ago at this location. Very knowledgeable and understanding but cannot recall his name. Apart from that my reservation was a nightmare. Was supposed to have a 6x12 trailer not a 5x8. And then we had freakish weather (snow storm/blizzard) and insane rain the day previous. Which in turn made us late for our trailer return but that aside this location didn’t charge us extra, so can’t complain too much. The location that we dropped the 26’ uhaul truck off at (westville) deserves a 0 star review and their unprofessionalism is what convinced me and my partner to NEVER choose uhaul services ever again (we mean this too, we’ll never use uhaul again, nor recommend their services to anybody as it would’ve been cheaper to pay movers). They told us that we wouldn’t be charged extra for being a day late due to the weather and then tried slapping a $600 bill at us. $50 of that bill is understandable for cleaning fee which is fine. But the remainder of it is so incredibly insane that we’ll simply never pay it. We told our credit card company to cancel all incoming attempts to charge our card and explained the situation and will be disputing the initial fee from uhaul as well

The truck was at a 1/4 tank I gased it up before getting there. I was told the manager would call me but no . Very poor service to a customer….

ALTON IRVING RUSHTONI have below average rating only because we almost didn't have a truck for our move. We booked a month ahead and expected the truck we booked for. Terrible business model. They should not rent trucks until they are confirmed. Thankfully our local Dartmouth office found a truck an hour away after first saying the closest truck was two hours away.

This was basically a three-hour waste of time. Also, the gas to travel back and forth when not necessary was expensive as these vehicles are not good on gas. I would not recommend Uhaul as a service.

Saying no trucks to no units then somehow having 2 units ..for the trouble I was told oh let's make it right and give u one month free only to find out that's the normal thing with a truck rental ??? My unit has no working light , there was a pillar in the middle taking up alot ofcspacd but i was charged the full price??? Then there were homeless people staying in units...the security system didn't work my card to de activate the zlarm didn't work. Was told its being worked on to it was fixed to dontvwory its OK ..good thing I had insurance I guess no ond ever came to check out the alarms not only on my unit but every other alarm that went off ...on check out the store said to xall ..I did but was directed to the 1 800 number centre ...they said ...ohh u havd to go into the store..I moved to a different county so it was extremely fistrating ..the call centre nited my account n suggested i call the store which i did but yet another mess up...so another call to the store still another hassle. given wrong info and just recueved another email saying I was overdue ..I had the unit clear on Oct 31st ..just redicioulous ...the store blamed the call xentrexand the centre blamed the store ..the only reason I used uhaul tye 3 times I did was because there was absolutely no other moving and storage providers..the only saving grace was the uhaul depot in Ambercrombie Automotive in New Glassgow He went above and beyond absolutely fantastic and even apologized for all the inconvenience, misinformation and trouble we went through just an outstanding depot

INGRID TAYLOR | First ImpressionsThe reason I have give these ratings is because the two times I tried to get in on the weekend or after 7 PM I could not because the door is broken. The first time I thought it was something I was doing wrong and I just had to come back another day which inconvenienced my friend who had a truck and was helping me as well. When I called U-Haul, there was nothing they were able to do and they tried to contacted the manager shortly after 7 pm, but got no response, so I simply could not access the facility. I was lucky my friend was able to help me that day because he goes on the road for work and luckily happened to be home the next day next when the facility was unlocked. On the day I moved out, I went there before seven to make sure I could access the facility before I got my sons to come with the truck. I tried to get in I could not, and by the time I went up to the main door, the staff had left. A stranger basically tried to show me how to force the lock to open the door, but I wasn’t strong enough, so I got him to let me back inside and I had to simply wait there until my helpers could arrive to make sure I would have access to the building. The gentleman who helped me, said he had reported the door being broken previously, numerous times. For all of the money that I paid for that storage unit I should’ve been able to get in there anytime that I needed to. However I will say, each time I went there to see the staff they were very helpful and friendly.

I paid $140 for THREE DAYS of storage unit access because I am a shift worker (16hr shifts) and could not get there in time to empty it out. I guarantee that this unit has been rented out again already, therefore allowing you to “double dip” on the profit, which is very disheartening as a consumer. I will be filing an official complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

MICHAEL MURPHY | Overall ExperienceThe staff didn't use the website booking system. We booked online, and were never contacted in person about our booking. We didn't get an access card until we were locked out of accessing our unit after staffed hours. When we inquired in person we were told we needed an access card and given one. After two years of renting our unit, we emptied our unit on the weekend, and finished after staffed hours. Living a distance from the unit, we checked out online. No one contacted us, and after a week of waiting for check out and our renewal coming up, we called. They asked who we had spoken to. "No one, we started the move out process online." And then we were told, oh, we don't use the website, you have to contact the office. How? It was closed when we moved out. Altogether we spent over $4000 on our unit, but we remained just a number until the end. Uhaul is a great company to work with. Pick another location for your storage.

Due to the stress of my situation I had not notice they took my credit card and booked it that day on the 2nd of April.i rented my trailer the same day and moved in the locker April 7th. I did not realize the error until it was billed automatically May 2nd. I spoke to manager Riley and she said nothing I can do to bad for me basically. I then already rented the trailer for May 7th so I could move into my new home May 8th even though I totally got screwed over. I brought the trailer back on May 9th. Manager Riley was told I am done with this locker move me out of it as again I did not need. She obviously did not do so as I was called for 2 days saying I have no lock on the locker. Well of course not I told her to move me our. Needless to say this is the last time will ever deal with you. I have told this story to friends already and all of them could not believe the in human treatment and rip off. Riley wouldn't even give me a break on the trailer rental. So I know nothing will be one for and I am wasting my energy here but I wanted you to know I will make sure I let as many people as I know of the treatment you get from UHAUL

I went to the Uhaul store to find someone to talk to but there was a sign saying back in ten so I just left. There was a puddle of water outside my unit, and the light above my unit does not work. (4131) Not a great first impression. It does not feel safe or secure.

The reason I got behind is I got very sick with cancer and was not able to work. I explained this to staff and management and was told they would not accept payments no matter what the circumstances were. I would never recommend a company who has no compromise when it comes to a deadly illness which cannot be comtrrolled

The agent on the phone said that this unit was on hold for me and would be available when I arrived. Turned out, however, that the unit was not available. In fact, the store agent at the time said no units were available! I was deeply disappointed in this because my province to province move required a unit of that size. In the end, the staff did find a smaller unit available, and gave me some money off the renting fee. I was happy about this, but still disappointed at the larger system of "booking" a unit for a customer that didn't exist. It's akin to an airline over selling their tickets. I think it's a poor business practice. In any case, this was the worst part of the experience. Everything has been top notch. In particular, the staff and management at the Court Street Truro NS location were absolutely wonderful!

3rd Place Transition | First ImpressionsI rate the facility in Truro outstanding! I had a problem with my cc being charge twice after I tried , without success , online to book a storage unit. Brandon , the Truro manager , did everything he could to help me but in the end he had to refer me to the contact centre. Several calls to the contact centre were made I was unable to get hold of anyone that could help me. I booked a space anyway, which was not the Truro Court St. locatifon , it was the Main St. SELF CHECK IN location. I booked these but was unable to check in the day before as it kept looping me back to the beginning, but still chargling my credit card. I arrived to the Court St. location on the day of moving to see if I could get checked in there and I was unable to. I had movers in the yard , and I was paying 300.00/hr. My angel came in the form of Mellisa Wright, would was able to secure a spaces at the Court St. location and booked them side by side. You have no idea how grateful I am for her extraordinary patience and service that day. I also wanted to point out how spotless the location is! Melissa advised me she did the cleaning there. I would have eaten off the floor is was so clean. Please note the above recommendation is for the Truro location only. My experience with your online booking system and you contact centre I would rate in the negative. You folks need so much work on your IT and your call wait times! Eventually my cc problems did get sorted out but I suspect it was the Truro employees you send it up the chain. Regards, Maureen Brennan

Head office or District Manager (?) should have offered something: Reduced rate, a free month, something.
todd hyslop | Overall ExperienceI was frustrated with having to walk around the building several times because the swipe card was not working, Pushing the help button on the swiper received no response. I think it would have been more courteous to accompany me to demonstrate and introduce me to the procedure and the location of the unit. I had been up all night packing and cleaning and then driving 4 1/2 hours (I stopped for a 45 minute nap) and was very tired. Luckily the elevator didn't stop working until our last load and the employee that came to look and help us find the stairwell was very helpful and kind. Drive-in and unload was very convenient and the trolleys worked well with a large elevator. I like the historical content of the building as I grew up bowling there every Saturday.
