We ordered 2 trucks and 2 dollys. My truck and rental was very smooth, but my poor husband had to take his truck back, due to a tire that was ready to blow up. Of course in the paperwork, you accept all responsibility for the condition of the vehicle, so we would have had to pay for all repairs of that tire blowing up. The guy only wanted to acknowledge the equipment number, not the gas level. Then, when we went to get our dollys, I got mine ok but his location had to be changed to pick up clear across the city. His dolly’s ratchet straps were in terrible condition and we had to stop and check tightness every 100 miles or so because it kept loosening up. My truck and dolly were fine. I give my rental a 5, he gives his a 1. Since negative ratings carry more weight, I will rate a 2 as a whole of the entire 2 truck, 2 dolly rental. At drop off, we had to do that entirely by ourselves. No one was at the location to help us. After hours drop off was very confusing. I hope we did everything right but I am not sure.

I was not happy at the fact that my price went from a $468 to $523. All because I was paying in cash and I was lied to told that I had to give a $100 deposit. Come to find out. It was only a $60 deposit and it does not. Make any sense while I was charged extra money. Because I was paying in cash

Maurice JacksonPicked up the trailer. After loading it we discovered it had a low tire. Returned to U-Haul. They discovered it had a leak, but was able to replace it with a tire from another trailer. This delayed our move by a day because we had to load/unload a non working vehicle. Not easily done! On the trip from MO to MN I was pulled over in IA because the passenger side tail light was flickering on/off as I was driving. I didn’t get a ticket but it was just another unnecessary delay. On the trip I had to stop to adjust the driver’s side tire strap that would come loose. I had not issues with the passenger side one. I was told the trailer was inspected when I picked it up, but have zero confidence that it was with all the issues I had with it. I would NOT recommend this location for its attention to detail.

Then it quit on me on the ramp to highway had to turn it off and on repeatedly until it went but wouldn’t go over 15 miles after. Second truck they gave me had no gas and had the low gas warning on. It was definitely better than the other because it didn’t break down but it struggled on hills and couldn’t really accelerate.

I highly recommend always purchasing the extra insurance, which we did. Doublecheck the rivets on the tow dolly lights and wheel area before use. After stopping about 50 miles into a 1200 mile trip, we noticed one of the tow dolly lights had fallen off the wheel area and was dragging in the road by its wires. All 4 rivets were gone. Fortunately, the light still worked, and we secured it in place with tools we brought, but this issue was preventable.

Not having access during hours promised on contract. On one occasion I came to get in 30 minutes before store closed and the clerk refused to let me in. I always had to wait while clerks finished helping customers inside store though I was a paying customer. I hope not needing storage space again but if needed I will definitely look into other places.

Harlon Bennett | Overall ExperienceThe U-Haul “System” seems to be pretty poor. When I reserved a trailer in Birmingham AL to move sone things to Grandview MO, they asked if I needed any storage. I reserved a storage space at Truman Corners in Grandview but when I arrived there to turn the trailer in, they said there were no unit’s available. It was only because of the General Manager’s efforts to work out a solution for me that it worked out at all. Great job by the manager but pretty poor job by U-Haul. The staff at U-Haul said this is not uncommon. The U-Haul reservation system seems to be the problem. That is not good customer service or good business practice. Great job by the GM and one other staff person at Truman Corners for finding me a storage solution.
