I rented the large, dual axle utility trailer w ramp. There was oil on the floor, looked like it was used to carry a leaky vehicle, very slippery. The right front wheel has an obvious wobble, left rear tire had a nail in it but still held air.Justin T.

Every time I got above 45mph, there was a high pitched whine that almost mode the drive unbearable. Also,â€¦.when I went to drop off the truck, I found out someone had changed my drop off location mid trip. Even though I had proof of the original drop off location,â€¦..the drop off agent still made me wait 40 minutes on a phone call waiting for someone to straighten it out.Lance S.
The online system to check out the vehicle should be much more efficient. The fact that the only way you can get the vehicle is through letting the website pin your location is ridiculous. I had many more issues with the online check in process that I won't get into. Lastly, of all the open spots in the parking lot, my vehicle was parked extremely tight between two trucks. It's almost like you wanted me to scratch the vehicle on the way out of the lot. I really thought it was a joke when I saw it. I will never rent a vehicle with your company again. I would have been happy to recommend Uhaul but this is the last straw for me. The Springfield Uhaul Office charged me for gas on the truck rental. I returned the truck between a half and quarter tank. I was right at the facility, they could have brought this to my attention and I could have pointed out the gas was correct per my contract but instead the next day I tried to purchase gas for my personal vehicle and my card was declined all to find out that I was charge $58.50 without my knowledge and now must wait 3-5 days for a refund. I was also charged mistakenly charged $22 and also need to wait for a refund. All of there issues could have been avoided but instead Uhaul is continuing to cause me hardships.Taharka J. | First Impressions

Great experience overall. Very impressed with the delivery person's driving and forklift skills used to position our UBox in a tight parking spot. Got a text the afternoon before the empty box was to be picked making sure that a morning pick up the next day was good for us. The only small snafu was that we weren't contacted the day before it was delivered letting us know a time frame for delivery. It worked out fine for us because we made sure to have someone at the apartment until it arrived.Betty M.

The U-Box experience was seamless. However, the Moving Help and its compatwas a disaster. In total, I spent more than five hours on the phone with uHaul representatives and, even then, the issue was never resolved. For loading the container, my Moving Help order was mysteriously, and erroneously, cancelled on the morning my move was scheduled. Neither the moving company nor myself cancelled this order and, I had already paid in full for the service. Instead, uHaul, without explanation, cancelled it. I then struggled to get in touch with a uHaul representative and, when I did, they told me there was nothing they could do about it. As a result, I had to negotiate and pay the movers under the table. Then, on the unloading end, a uHaul representative took my credit card number to charge me for moving help, but the service was never booked. Yet again, I was given misleading and plainly incorrect information until, finally, I figured it out myself. Your staff is kind and friendly but, plainly, they do not know what they are doing. I spoke with half a dozen people associated with uBox, moving help, and uHaul, and they all offered conflicting and, at times, wrong information. Unfortunately, we were going to use this service again to move the remainder of our items. However, at this juncture, we will be using Pods. At a minimum, I can trust that company to give me correct information and not leave me stranded on the morning of my move. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.Amanda G.

Be consistent. My Ubox was 3 days late and after making NUMEROUS CALLS, I was assured it would be on time. When it was late, one department told me to contact a different department and that department told me to contact the other department and absolutely no one could tell me WHEN my box would be delivered. Two people told me it never shipped (3 weeks after it was loaded), another person told me there was a delay in it leaving its original location, while another person told me it was "somewhere in transit". We had to coax the bill of lading information out of someone because we were told Uhaul "has no contact with the shippers" and there "was no way to get in contact with them." Well after a google search of the company's name i was able to contact the shipper and find out where the heck my box was. AND THEN, when it did finally arrived we were told we had to "wait 24 hours after delivery to access it because there was no one to drive the forklift" well when we got there that same day it was delivered, there was someone driving the forklift. Not to mention employees playing with a ball and washing their own personal vehicles.SAVANNAH T.

1. Low tire pressure monitor kept coming on and I couldn't tell which tire was low. 2. While I filled the gas tank to full prior to returning the truck and drove under 5 miles to the location I was still charged over $18 more for gas. Additionally, the trailer had a tire with very low air pressure, which we did not notice until the trailer was loaded. I will not use UHaul again. When I make a reservation, I expect to pick up at the time I reserved â€" for the item I reserved. My reservation cost went from $26 to almost $90 because you didn't have the utility trailer I reserved. You need to honor reservations because it is wrong to allow someone to make a reservation and then not have the item.LORI N.

I had a terrible experience because I reserved my truck a week ahead of my moving date and then the day before my move you guys call me up and tell that you dont have my 20 footer available for meâ€¦.. seirously? I had to end up using a 15 footer which caused me to make multiple trips back and forthâ€¦. If you guys cannot promise that the truck is available to your customers then why offer reservations?â€¦. If this is how you guys will keep doing business then I hope you will be out of business because that is not the right way to treat your customersâ€¦ My return date was on 8/29 and the guys calls me and akss me if i can even return the truck before my scheduled return date/time at like 1 pm on 8/28â€¦. We ended up finding rat feces within our unit. Also, an employee from Uhaul went inside our unit to look inside for the rodent they accidentally stepped on some glass shelves and broke them. We are providing the details to Delaney via email that way Uhaul can complete the claim and we can have the glass shelves covered by Uhual since the employee from Uhaul broke them. We are happy with the fact that the facility provided us boxes and they allowed us to throw away some of our belongings at the dumpster on site. Overall the experience was average due to the rodent issue, but the facility assisted us in resolving the issue. We are now going to wait for the claim to be finalized by Uhaul so we can be compensated for the glass shelves that the Uhual employee stepped on and broke inside our storage unit. ¡Gracias!santiago c. | Overall Experience

Building layout is horrible. It was not disclosed when reserving the storage unit online that all climate controlled units are on the second floor. Availability of parking is a nightmare. Also having a storage warehouse on one side can make it easy to get blocked in. Sometimes the security code to arm and disarm the units alarm was faulty, meaning you had to go back and put it in again. The storage unit I had reserved was not available upon my arrival. An alternate unit selected for me was locked, so back to the front desk I went. After approximately 30 minutes of trying to get the situation resolved, I was able to unload my truck. Only two stars because the facility was in good condition, other than the card scanner not working for anyone. Staff was extremely rude when I needed help on 06/20/21 while I was clearing out my unit. I asked to speak to the manager. A staff member told me he would go get him. Ten minutes later, no one had come to the storage area to help me, so I walked around to the office only to find that the entire staff were rushing to their cars to leave. The manager would not make eye contact with me when I called out to him, and I HAD TO STEP IN FRONT OF HIS CAR TO KEEP HIM FROM DRIVING AWAY. On top of that, he was extremely rude when I insisted that he help me access my unit. By far the best U-Haul store, truck rental and storage unit I've ever used in 20 years of military moves! The loading dock and utility carts made loading/unloading easily Half the work. Only drawback: the back is so busy and congested that backing a truck into the loading dock spaces can be a challenge....perhaps a way to enforce people not parking in front of the docks to give more room for the trucks would be nice, though I can understand the difficulty based on volume of traffic. Huge shout out to the young lady (blond w/ braces) in the office - she was always courteous, very knowledgeable and competent, and she managed all the other workers with great efficiency. Having worked with her at least 5 times, it was clearly not a one-time deal. In my career field, I promote rockstars like her and put them in charge of my most important projects. My move in was complicated by the after-hours security alarm check in process combined with the locked automatic sliding door. This detailed instruction was not part of the check-in process. The difficulty was quickly explained and accommodated by one call to the on-call facility manager. In hind sight, if such instructions had been included in the emailed instructions, I might have complained that it was complicated and confusing. Storage was good. Frustration is that signage is bad and phones are never answered. Nothing tells you that main doors close when front does even though access hours are longer. I was told it's in the contract but who keeps their contract with them every time they visit. There is nothing that tells you to take a photo of an empty unit. there were some problems with the rental of the truck when Uhaul claimed they couldn't find our reservation and rented us a more expensive truck. That was later made right. My complaint is that when we were in the storage unit someone tried to unlock their unit without having first swiped their card at the entrance and a VERY LOUD alarm went off. The alarm was a decibel level that caused hearing damage. My husband's ears are now ringing nonstop and the tinnitus is interfering with normal lilfe. It has been a week and it appears that the damage is permanent. We are furious. No uHaul people checked when the alarm went off so it was pointless and yet it caused real damage to my husband's hearing.William B. | First Impressions

I would have given five stars except for three things: 1. There was confusion about the free month. This is the second time that staff members made an error since my original move-in date in May, which caused unnecessary stress. I also wasted a lot of time rechecking my online account for updates. 2. If I hadn't thought to check for the promised free month on my account before my last visit and if Craig, the GM, hadn't been there when I went inside, I believe I would have had to file a complaint. The guy standing next to Craig at the counter sounded like he didn't believe me when I explained that I had been promised a free month both via email and on the phone after my van rental. 3. The unit is supposed to be climate controlled. I was unable to visit it in all of the months between May and October to check. When I went there twice in October to deposit items and then pick up some items I forgot, it was humid inside and musty smelling. I can only keep my fingers crossed that my belongings, especially any paper and fabric ones, come out of it okay. Otherwise, this U-Haul storage is definitely a place that I recommend for self-storage. It's large and has plenty of units. There are bathrooms on each floor and an easy-to-use elevator. They offer a variety of carts. It has an excellent security system. The staff are also informative and friendly.Bertha C. | First Impressions

My one complaint that I have is that I arrived at the location at 9pm and the location was closed. I had no notice that the storage part was combined with the truck rental part so I assumed that the storage place would be staffed until 10pm. I think the website should clearly state that you can not sign the contract/ get keys past 7pm. It just states storage access until 10pm. We elected to move our belongings from a U-box to a storage unit at the Springfield VA facility. When our U-box was being shipped, we received an email offer for one month of free storage. My wife called and booked a storage unit, but later it was clear this reservation was made (I got a call to schedule U-box delivery which of course was not necessary, and then I had to reserve a storage unit at the U-haul facility when I went to access the U-box). Overall the process of accessing the U-box and transferring belongings to a storage unit was not clearly explained, and there seems to be a communication disconnect between the storage rentals team (front retail area of the facility), the shipping/receiving/warehouse department and U-haul's central customer support hotline. In the end, we accessed our U-box and moved belongings to our new storage unit fine, we were just confused about the process beforehand.Kevin S. | First Impressions
