The only bad thing I have to say about it is I rented a cargo van back in July and when it came time for me to pick it up in November they didn't have it for me and that just was not right and they did give me a 10 ft truck for the same price but cost me more gas to put in it than it did in a cargo van so it actually did cost me more moneyCONNEE SUE B.

I really appreciate the security functions at the West Dundee Uhaul storage. At first it is difficult to comprehend, not being able to go directly to me unit. But, after an alarm or two, I learned to swipe in and out of the storage. The down part about my experience is that no one on the property ever answers the phone. My calls were always redirected to the 800 number. And the capabilities at the operator center differ from the local Uhaul - Ugh, the phone calls. West Dundee location was able to accommodate my rental, however my original reservation that was made more than a week in advance at 4N221 84th Ct, Hanover Park, IL 60133 location was relocated to the West Dundee store 20 minutes prior to my reservation time. When I tried to call 630-405-7455 which was the number provided to speak to a corporate call center representative I sat on hold for 15 minutes both times I tried calling and was never able to get off hold to actually speak to a Uhual representative. When I arrived at the Hanover Park location to try and see why my reservation was moved to a location that was more than a half hour away and completely out of my way, I was met with nearly instant hostility and told that they did not have a truck to rent me and there was nothing they could do to accommodate getting a truck to the Hanover Park location. I then proceeded to contact the West Dundee location to confirm they had a truck there for me, they bluntly demanded that I assure them that I would be returning the truck back to their location, when I attempted to explain my situation that their location is more than a half an hour away from any direction I would be traveling during my moving process I was told my option would be to return to their location or I would be faced with a one-way fee that would be â€œ3 times the cost of my rentalâ€. This entire process was nothing but stress and inconvenience of me jumping through hoops in order to get into a vehicle. I am appreciative of West Dundee being able to honor my reservation on short notice, but disappointed with the customer service I received along every other step of this process. I would be extremely hesitant to personally use, or to recommend to others using U-Haul for any future needs after my experience.DANIEL M.

My box came two days early due to being in the area earlier, ok that's fine, they wanted to pick it up the next day, so that had to be dealt with, I asked if it would change my delivery date, I was told no, not true my box was two days late. Due to my box being dropped off early my length of having the box was changed. I didn't think to ask about that in my phone call. Then they wanted to pick it up before my month was up. Of course that was no. I wasn't unhappy overall but I can't say I was happy either.Reid M.

Lincolnshire Uhaul store was 5 mins away from our storage convenient. But he directed us to up to Libertyville to get info and schedule our Uboxes. When we got up to the Libertyville store they were very helpful awesome experience!! They said Lincolnshire could have booked for us. :(Paul R.

Pickup and drop off was excellent and the trailer I rented was in excellent condition. Only issue is with U-Haul as a companyâ€¦. I originally rented using a location closer to home, and then U-Haul changed the location. This happens all the time, and I wish U-Haul would update their asset tracking technology to know what is in stock when reservations are made.THOMAS L.

Our Family was in a very difficult position. We were givin 48 hours to move from our 3 year home. Your store in Anchorage, who we were already a customer were very condescending from the first day, judemental and actually locked us out from unloading the UHAUL rented truck, Even after paying and selecting 24hour access. We were told we should learn to plan for these things by the supervisor who was working. Granted it was Sunday, and for me it was a long day. My family was in the car parked next to the truck and the kids were worried about their clothes and things. I rent two units and trust me, I am diligently going to find a reasonable storage company to replace this nightmear we are currently in.james d. | Overall Experience

The ongoing communication was really complicated . At one time they unilaterally changed the date for depositing the U boxes and left me a message to call back. That is not acceptable. It took me about a day to get clarification & change it to a convenient time . Fortunately the driver was extremely accomodating .. but until he showed up it was very disconcerting . The eight hr time window of delivery & pick up is too long for planning . Even after the delivery time for the uboxes were confirmed .. the driver could only bring six & the seventh arrived late so i was stuck with paying the movers extra to stick around. Most of the staff on the phone were very pleasant & appeared to be helpful except the gentleman in Mont\gomery Il --- the dispatch manager .. I'm glad they took care of my blanket dilemmaABRAHAM C.

The general interaction was good, but there was chip in windshield of vehicle that was not formally addressed. Agent put a sticker with x on it to indicate the chip was there ahead of time but it seemed unsafe for long distance travel. Also there was a clunking noise when shifting into gear. The drivers seat had something sticky on the headrest. The gas gage indicator on contract showed more than actually in truck. I think these things were simply overlooked from previous return and assumed ok on my checkin.SEAN T.

I never actually visited the Dundee location. My rating is for the Rockford location where I made the rental agreement. A couple things I didn't like about the whole arrangement....No one really knew where my U-Box was while in transit. It arrived at U-Haul destination about a week before they promised delivery and I couldn't get it delivered sooner.Rick B.

The help I hired thru Uhaul was terrible. One person was ok, the other one was NOT! Had 3 new items damaged. Value $800. Left 30 minutes early and I had to finish. And I'm 70 years old. Never do it again.Jerome L.
When I came to pick up my vehicle the work had not been completed I had to remind the staff of all the work to be done Immediately after leaving uhaul I had my car oil changed The technician handed part of a wiring harness that was laying loose in the engine compartment Some of the staff was put out because I asked them to show me how all fits together The only bright spot was the counter help Chris He was approachable and knowledgeable He actually worked to make sure that I had everything There is more to share about my experience but I believe you understand why I won't be recommending your companyChris N.

The workers were pleasant and helpful. The location was nice. BUt this was not the location I made the reservation for. I did not receive the $50 reservation guarantee refiund. I drove 40 minutes out of my way twice to get this trailer. On top of that...the running lights on the trailer were not working and after several calls to Uhaul it was never resolved. I received a voicemail from Uhaul stating that running lights were not necessary. I am appalled at the lack of customer service provided by UHaulRICHARD P.

This experience ended up great. I believe that if I would not have ordered online none of what has upset me would have happened. I ordered a Hitch and installation to happen at the Springhill Mall Facility in West Dundee. My installation appointment that was set up online when I made my purchase was 9/14 at 7:00 am. I arrived at 7:00 am and was told they did not have the parts yet. Fed Ex might have them delivered by 1 pm but no guarantee. Both Gentlemen at the front desk ( Jeff & Brandon) were less than apologetic. I feel appointments for the next day should be looked at the day before maybe? Could be a disconnect somewhere? I got a VM from Brandon at 1:52 saying my parts were there and to call 224-293-4456 to set up an appointment. On the first call, every time the girl spoke there was a beeping noise that cut her words off. After trying numerous times to tell her that I could not hear her and getting snotty responses. I hung up On the second call, which was 28 minutes and 25 seconds long. She set up the appointment and then wanted payment which I did online already. Then said she had to do it another way. Waited Waited Waited. Then she tried to look up a direct number for the Springhill Store. Waited Waited Waited. Then she told me that she could not find one and emailed Jeff Jones and I Should be hearing from him. I heard from Jeff the next morning at 8:50 am set up a drop off at 6:30 am, Dropped my car off with Brandon at 6:30 am with no problems. Brandon called me back at 8:39 am that the Hitch was installed and my husband and I picked it up from two different Gentlemen after work. Everything looks good so far. My Complaints/Suggestions Why did I go there when there were no parts to do the job? Why was no one sorry that it happened. Thank you for listening.Carri B.

When picking up trailer it was covered in motor oil inside trailer When looking at 2 other units they were also very dirty inside. I ended up taking 1 and having to go to a car wash to pressure wash it myself. Your mop isn't enough. It made me way behind schedule and my helpers cancel because of it. A dead mouse was removed from my storage unit when I initially got the unit which I understand. When I moved my items in the next day, there was just an awful putrid smell in the unit. I sprayed some air freshener which helped but I hope my items don't absorb the unpleasant smell. The only less-than-ideal part of the experience were the split-level stairs to the unit, but I needed the 8' vertical space so I couldn't be at ground level where I was limited to 6' vertical. 1st time using storage facility. Pulled up to overhead door, which automaticly opened. Went to my stoage shed location, and there was a tag fastened to door stating unit was clean and available. NO WHERE ON THE TAG DID IT STATE YOU HAD TO DIS-ARM THE UNIT OR BUILDING ALARM WOULD BE ACTIVATED !!!!! Opened the door to unit to make sure free lock was inside, and alarm was activated. No sign stating where the deactivation pad is located. Frustrating experience for 1st time in facility.
