Broke down for 4 hours. Service man that was sent was beyond rude. Called my husband stupid twice and told him he must not value his life due to where we broke down at like we had the choice of location to break down. The engine light on the truck came on the day prior to us leaving. He took the truck back, but they just waved him off saying it was probably just the o2 receptor that the truck was fine. Turns out a hose was missing completely, and the battery died. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. NEVER AGAIN.Andrew F.

The customer service part of my transaction really sucked no understanding no compassion. She was very blunt and made an assumption without even knowing who I was and started not even to rent the truck to me because of the way that she felt. It took everything in me not to tell her off because I really needed that truck but I won't rent from that place again and will not refer anybody there they really need to work on their customer service and even my customer service when I return the truck back sucked as well the guy had no friendliness with them or anything.... 24/7 truck share needs significant improvement. We made the reservation for this truck several days in advance. (ref #25806801) location (woodlake dr.) I was contacted several hours later by phone and told that truck is not available at that location. Not a big deal, The correct truck was just a few miles down the road, but really, the website should be able to tell us where the trucks are available. When we attempted to pick up the truck at the new location there was no option on the website to begin the process. There was no link from my confirmation page, there was no link from the confirmation email, there was no link on the dashboard. Several different U-Haul pages told me to click on "Pick Up My Truck" but the button did not exist. We made a 24-hour reservation for 6:00 p.m. so that we could pick up the truck at a comfortable time, just start loading early in the morning and have all day to use it and get it back. We were still sitting at the U-Haul location at a quarter to 10:00. And we weren't the only ones, there was another customer sitting at the front door trying to find the keys to a U-Haul pickup truck. We finally had to give up so that we could get the kids to bed. I knew the location opened at 8:00 a.m. I returned at 8:05 and discovered that they had JUST rented the truck that I had reserved to someone else. The shop manager was understanding and helpful, and completely unsurprised by the situation. He was able to find another 26-ft truck in the system, 4 miles even further up the road. He made the reservation on the spot (#93722354) and down the road I went. This was a more popular branch so there was quite a wait, but the store manager here was very professional, very helpful, and also not at all surprised by my predicament. But she confirmed that she did have the truck I needed and quickly got me back out the door. 7 mi further, a whole lot of run around, 15 hours later I had the truck I needed. The people interacted with face-to-face through this process were excellent. The customer service I received at the branches was friendly, professional, and exceptionally competent. The website however, looks good. That's all. The truck inventory system is broken. The truck reservation process is ineffective. The 24/7 truck share program simply doesn't work. You have good people working for you out front. The systems in place to coordinate their resources for the benefit of the customer need work.LELAND CORDELL M.

I was confused about the drop box for returning the truck after hours. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to push the keys through all the way until they fell, or leave them just inside the mail slot door. I ended up pushing them all the way through and then when I looked in the window I saw they had fallen with the paperwork onto the floor and not into a collection receptacle of any kind, so I thought maybe I returned the truck incorrectly.Timothy H.

The customer service with the people at the location I picked up my truck from was excellent. There was even an employee, whom was not on the clock mind you, that stopped by the location to speak with the lady who was working, and the lady off the clock actually helped me with my reservation when asked nicely by the on duty employee so that she could continue helping the other customer and I would not be held up since I was roughly 30 minutes late for my pick up due to uhauls doing. I find that to be going above and beyond when you are willing to step in and help even when you are not being paid for it. On the flip side of things I find very unacceptable that uhaul decided to change my pick up lactation the morning of, 30 minutes prior to my pick up time. I had to go 20 minutes out of my way to find the new location. The fact that uhaul does things like that at the last minute and inconveniences their customers is very unacceptable. I will be very hard pressed to use your organization in the future for my moving or rental needs, not that your company will upset about losing one potential customer in the future. I would how ever recommend the location of 803 Butler St in Chesapeake, VA due to the great customer service. And apparently I wasn't the only customer in there the day of my rental who had issues. The gentleman being helped when I walked in had apparently been sent from his original location to another location, to another location and then to 803 Butler St, where he was finally able to get the truck he needed, the manager was very nice and helpful to him in my opinion and was able to work things out for the upset customer. Again, uhaul needs to consider their customers when changing their pick up locations instead of considering the companies pocket and making it bigger. The U-Haul that originally accepted my request off of Virginia Beach Blvd was awful. Rude, arrogant, not helpful. They could not care less about me as a customer. The person managing the Military Highway location, albeit 30 to 45 minutes out of my way (which was a major inconvenience as an out-of-town person), was great. Helpful, empathetic, thorough, and knowledgable about how to setup what we needed. She didn't treat me as an outsider like the Va Beach Blvd location did. She treated me as a valued customer.Eric B.

I missed the part in the fine print that the $50 reservation guarantee wasn't just for the location I requested. I reserved a truck from the Airline Blvd location. I was contacted the morning of my reservation and told I had to pick up at the Butler street location. The original location for my drop off 3355 I believe was a hotel with no uhaul sign anywhere. So uhaul, your absolute wrong for dumping me off in an unmarked area and no assistance. Luckily I spotted a uhaul center across the boulevard who explained uhaul messed up with that location. They took my truck no questions asked. The 1st drop off gets 0 stars. The facility and the staff were OK enough. The problem was with the lack of discretion with their billing reminder system. We had a death in the family soon after we packed the unit. I had not yet set up the auto pay and missed the first payment by a few days. Instead of sending me a friendly reminder, they mailed a very threatening past due letter by way of my neighbor whom I had assigned as our reference. I was terribly embarrassed and mailed a check immediately BUT before it arrived they sent the neighbor a SECOND letter onkly a week after the first letter, with NO comparable letter to me. I was now very ANGRY as well as doubly embarrassed at this very unnecessary move on U-Haul's part. I called the local office and complained and assured them I had just mailed a check. The lady showed NO empathy at all and flatly explained it's company policy. I called corporate and they said someone will be contacting me shortly. It's been five months and I'm still waiting. NEVER NEVER MISS A PAYMENT for U-Haul storage - not even by a few days!!! I arrived at 1300 and waited to drop off my trailer. When no one came outside, I walked in (representative was not wearing a mask), and was told to drive it around the building and stop behind a regular car. After I drove around the building, the representative yelled at me saying I had driven the wrong way around the building and didn't stop where he wanted me to. I circled the building again (in the opposite direction against the arrows indicating the direction of travel) and stopped where he was waiting for me. I asked if everything was taken care of, and he said I was all set. The next morning I received a phone call at 0735 advising me that the trailer I dropped off after hours hadn't been properly accounted for, which indicated that he hadn't actually taken care of checking my equipment back in. This experience made me very disappointed in Uhaul and this location's service in particular.Jordan B.

When our normal propane place was unexpectedly closed, we went to get our propane tanks refilled at the Greenbriar Uhaul Location. Guy was totally rude and unreasonable. Truck wasn't even cleaned when I got in, but didn't have time to deal with the laziness of the staff. When drop came around the guy helping to sign the truck back in was the same rude jerk from the day before. He wouldn't listen to the reason why we ran behind today. The entire Uhaul experience was horrible from start to finish. I moved from Florida to Virginia, made a reservation online, then spoke to a rep on the phone to be sure everything was in line. I rented a truck and was offered a free month of storage with my rental so I accepted and requested that I return the truck at the same place as the unit, a 10 x 10 climate controlled unit. I stressed climate control and was assured that my unit was reserved. When I got here, the unit was a 10 x 15 NON climate controlled. The manager was very snooty and insisted that I had reserved it and no cc were available. I had to leave my stuff here for a few months as I was in an accident. I just spent $250 to move my things to a different storage facility because my things were filthy, water had gotten in and mildew was on some of my furnture. There were also tons of dead bugs in my things. I rented a truck from this location to move - arrived to find they had cancelled because I was not there at 8 am. I told the (again) very rude and condescending manager that I was not made aware that I had to be there at 8 and she was short, cut me off, insisted that her employee said that, lectured on and on. Absolutely zero customer service. Turns out there were other trucks available, she could have apologized for the misunderstanding and made for a positive experience. I would not recommend at all.
