I am pleased overall with U-Haul. But I was originally reserved a storage room at the auburn location. Much to my dismay, they do not have a fright elevator for the upper level which made it impossible for me to use it. This should be communicated clearly before reservations are made. Inform customers that they need to inspect the trucks including the gas amount before they drive away. They lied and said there was 3/4 tank of gas and there was just over 1/2 tank. They said they sent a text for me to inspect the vehicle and I should've done that however how did they send a text to my home number? Then they said I should've taken a picture. I don't have a cell phone to do that! I went 14 miles in the truck and put 2 gallons of gas in it AND brought my receipt to prove it and they still charged me a ridiculous amount for gas I DIDNT USE!!!! I have a major concern with my truck rental. I had issues fueling it up from the moment i started on my road trip. the valve or shutoff valve is broken. The roadside assistance technician told me there was no fixing this in the field. Every time i had to fill up, i had to hold the gas pump at a level that would distribute 1/10 of a gallon at a time. Fillups took anywhere from 35-45 minutes EVERYTIME i filled up for 1600 miles. i spent over 4 hours filling up fuel. i talked with the manager in Auburn, wa and told them my concern and they told me that for my inconvenience, they would credit me 500$. i think this is UNACCEPTABLE. i then asked for his bosses phone number and he told me half of it and then pretended that we lost the call. (in the time i could call back to get the phone number, he had called his boss to tell him the situation and said his boss agrees. I am beyond upset with how this was handled while i was on the road, and then continued when i expressed my concerns.Gunnar A.

Terrible experience. Walked in to a Uhaul location and was told I have to call their 1 800 number to rent a truck for one way. I was on hold for a long time. I asked for a 10 foot but realized it was too small when I saw it after filling out paperwork. So I had to call the 1 800 number again and put on hold again for very long time. Then I was told to go to another location for a 15 foot truck. When I got there, they said they did not have a 15 foot truck. So I ended up with a 10 foot after all. Wasted 3 hours of my time.Cheryl B.
Teach your employees how to approach customers with respect and not be so rude. I walked into the front desk and this lady with red hair who made me wait and didn't seem like she wanted to help at all and when she did attempt. I don't know if I went to a bad Uhaul location or if the whole company is bad. Either way I'm never coming back. Uhaul charges a fee for every tiny thing. I brought the truck back with mud in the back. Of course I was charged a fee for that. The person helping me was willing to waive the fee if I cleaned it out myself but come on! If Uhaul is such a great company why don't they clean there own vehicles? Nothing was damaged or anything it was just dirty. Is Uhaul not cleaning the vehicles during the pandemic? The customer service sucks, staff is rude. Clearly you know that your customers need your services so you don't care how they're treated. Bye Uhaul.DAVID G.
We have rented from this location numerous times and this was the first time our truck was a mess. It had bird poop on the mirror, the front window was extremely dirty and hard to see out of in direct sunlight and the overall appearance of the truck was dented, scratched and all around in bad shape. I don't understand why the bigger Uhaul locations don't have the self checkout service. I requested a 6:00 AM pickup and was later called to say that this location did not have that service and the earliest I could receive my truck was 7:00 AM. I would have appreciated knowing that the time I picked was not possible when making the reservation, not in the evening when it was too late to find another location.Adam C.

Our uhaul was visually clean, but smelled so foul. When we picked it up the back was open, I assume because the workers were trying to air it out. About an house into having it we opened the back to load our belongings and were hit in the face with the most horrendous smell. The entire back of the vehicle was filled with a stench I can only compare to death. I called customer service immediately about the issue, but they told me that there weren't any other uhauls available for days. Needing to be moved out by the end of the next day that wasn't going to work so we were stuck with it. We used Lysol and other air fresheners to try and get it out but no luck. Some of our furniture items smelled like the stench after we unloaded them and I had to let them air out outside before bringing them in. I'm not sure why or how a giant metal box essentially can end up smelling that bad, but wow what an unpleasant experience.Nichole R.

Very little can be done to improve. The gentleman that checked me out upon arrival loaned me a correct hitch, no charge. Hooked up the trailer and off I went to do the job. When I returned the gal that inspected and disconnected the trailer did so fast and efficiently the I was on my way. Awesome job!!Jesus M.

I was told the truck was cleaned. In reality the ramp was completely covered it dry dirt and sticks and leaves. From top to bottom it was covered it dirt and debris. Also, the floor surface in the attic portion of the truck was covered in smeared mud. It looked like someone tried to clean it but just smeared the dirt around. It was so dirty and muddy I had to clean it before I could use it.Justin M.

The service at the South Auburn location was pleasant and efficient. The only thing that keeps me from giving an Exellent rating is the fact that their was less fuel in the vehicle when I got in it, compared to how much was marked on the contract. I don't understand how people can get something like that wrong, but it really did reduce the quality of the overall experience. I travelled 29 miles and put 3 gallons of fuel in the van, but still had to worry I was going to get charged for more fuel. The customer shouldn't have to have those kinds of concerns.Thomas R.

I did not want a dolly. I told them did not want a dolly. So do thank how mad I was when I opened the back door and there in my way was a dolly. I need a 15 foot truck for one reason the width of the door and then in my way is a dolly I can't move. Or it's going to cost me something I did not want. The South Auburn Way UHaul has been my go-to for all my moving needs for many years. The staff are always friendly and extremely helpful. I trust them. This move was the most peculiar one I've ever experienced in my life. Pandemic issues trying to get moving help and the fact I moved 25 miles away as well as onset of a personal disability. The use of a one month storage unit was a genuine life saver. It was clean and safe and perfect for my temporary need. I have recommended this business so many times and will continue to do so. In about a year or so when I plan to move back to Auburn, I will return. The only thing I found challenging is the company's new procedure for ALL calls to go through an off site call center. I understand the reasons and help to the individual stores. For the customers, however, needing to talk to the site staff, its a real pain.SONDRA J. | Overall Experience
