I used a moving service associated with UHaul to pick up and return my box. Four days after it was returned I was charged another month rental. I tried to call, but can't get through to the local store. I spoke with national office after a 45 minute wait on hold to be told that I needed to speak with someone locally. I was told I would get a call back. That was 4 days ago. I have yet to hear back. I think the failure to let people call the local offices directly is a major mistake. During my various rentals I have spent more than 3 hours total on hold. Each time I was calling for something that could not be done online. This system is a bureaucratic disaster and I will be looking for a different pod system for my future needs.SHERRY H.

I rented a van for 4 hours and drove it a total of 9 miles. I returned it with a full tank of gas in perfect condition. My Amex was hit with a $329 dollar charge! There was a charge for CDW charges for $160 and other fees that made not sense. This is robbery! I am on the phone now trying to talk to someone about this and I have been on hold for 15 minutes. The guy behind the desk was rude - wouldn't even talk to me just kind of grunted and pointed to try to answer my question. The truck was full of debris and old trash. They didn't have the furniture cloths I'd reserved, had to wait for them. The truck itself was all beat up and scratched but not reflected in the pre-rental photos on the site. The page wouldn't load to contest the photos. They double-charged me for the furniture cloths I rented and no one will pick up the phone to resolve it. At least the truck was there and worked. the staff was great and friendly. but the organization and customer service overall was horrible. there were 30 people in line when i got there, and it took nearly an hour to get through, even though i had booked everything before hand. for long stretches, no one was even in the room helping customers. they were out taking care of something. i truthfully have never seen a more poorly organized customer service experience. The truck wasn't clean, app based pickup is a disaster, took over 30 minutes and multiple attempts with agent on the phone to get pickup completed. I submitted my license at time of reservation and still had to submit it 4 more times at pickup. Then upon return the bill comes and they have the gas wrong. I have photo showing mileage and fuel at return and get receipt showing $40+ in fuel charges. Then I call to correct and hold says 20 minutes. It advises to go to live chat and that is impossible to find too. This is becoming the norm.John S.

I was given a truck with no battery, so they had to change my truck. The people were very nice and responsive, they helped me but the real problems came when I returned the truck, they charged me 55$ of gas when I'm not supposed to be charged... I only drove 9 miles and they charged me 6 gallons of gas. I'm pretty sure the truck was a Ford not a Boeing!Vittorio W.

Everything! Customer service is horrible. I had a question regarding the vehicle and spent almost 2 hours on hold. Each time being transferred to another department. I was transferred to roadside assistance and spent another 2 hrs on hold, and no one picked up and was transferred back to sales. I called the location several times and they never picked up. There were many inconsistencies that made the experience frustrating & give me serious pause to recommend Uhaul location or business other than convenience for me. 1-my account didn't sync up with the reservation # so I couldn't add-on w/o CSR help. When I mentioned the discrepancy, she added my email on the reservation # but the sync failed when I tried to access by acct. 2- the furniture pads ordered thru CSR wasn't fulfilled @ pickup & I forgot to ck. 3- key drop-off sign is poorly lit & someone present help locate it for me. Since this was nighttime, I didn't want to wander the entire property & wanted to leave area ASAP. 4 - self-service return up-charged me. I had reserved a 15' truck from you back in early April from the closest location to me which was Brighton,Ma. That's a month ahead. I arrived at the location to only be told they don't have my truck and that they don't have a replacement for me. The only option was to drive to your Somerville location where they only had a 10' truck. Including driving time to and from somerville, I wasted about 2 hours out of my moving day not to mention because the truck was smaller it required multiple trips. Now, I planned appropriately but sadly your company failed to provide an acceptable solution. $50 is not enough of compensation for my frustration, time and inconvenience. Hi! my name is Justino. I went in to Somerville Uhaul office yesterday after reservation online. I made the reservation to move in on Sunday 9/27/20. When I got there, I saw a girl at the office, instead of helping she asked her coworker Edgar Lopez who just walked in from outside to take over and help me because she wanted to use the restroom, Edgar was in the middle of doing something outside but came over and started helping when she popped out of the so called bathroom she claimed she went. Edgar almost finished with the contract and was telling me the amount to pay to move in when I was explaining to him that I was supposed to have one month free according to my reservation and I have a proof of it. That was when the girl jumped in saying "no that's not true because I was here last time when you came in and my boss told you you need to rent a truck one way before getting one month free. I told her that's right but this is the proof that I'm qualified for one month free according to my reservation. she didn't want to hear it. Then I pulled my phone out and trying to provide the picture evidence I have, she said:"even if you have a picture to prove it we're not going to do it". However Mr Lopez Edgar took his time and listened to me and saw the evidence I showed him then advised me to come back the next day and see his manager because he's the only person who can approve the one month free rent. I got out of the office and decided to contact the manager because I'm used to that office and I know the former manager George and the current one manny. I sent a text message to Manny and told him the story of the girl been too harsh. Manny took his time to document everything and then recommended me to JUAN BAUTISTA and asked me to go back there and see him for the contract. I went back to the office and Juan took care of the issue and resolved it and assigned me the unit that I reserved which happened to be at the upper level. I told him it's too high for me to load heavy things up there and he reassured me that if anything becomes available at the lower lever I can switch to that lower level unit. I was so happy with the excellent customer service provided by Manny the manager, Juan B. and Edgar Lopez. All a customer needs sometimes is attention and be listened to and be advised when the service he or she is requesting cannot be provided. That's what Edgar Lopez did. And Manny as a team leader proved his leadership by asking a talented team member JUAN BAUTISTA to care of the issue which he resolved with an excellent level of service which brights my day.Justino A. | First Impressions
While the staff was helpful, the design of the storage units are horrendous. Why are there overhead storage units? This defeats the convenience in paying for storage units. Nowhere on the online booking tool was o warned there were overhead units at lower cost and floor units were $40 more!
