I hate to give a negative review of this business, but the poor service is impossible to ignore. When I reserved this unit online from Texas there was no indication this storage location was still under construction and not ready for service. This wasn't even explained when I arrived, but was given vague excuses that the person that needed to assist me was unavailable and to please return tomorrow. This happened 3 days in a row. I explained that the contents of the trailer I rented was destined for that storage unit and I was concerned that they were charging me extra days for the trailer. It was then I was put in touch with the manager, Ricky, and told he would meet me at the building to let me in to unload my stuff. This was finally accomplished the following day, but after we finished I was told that the new Master Lock padlock I installed was not the approved "round" padlock and would have to be replaced. I offered to replace it with the approved lock and was told to return Thursday, but when I returned Thursday Ricky apologized that his mother-in-law was in town and asked if I could return the next day. I returned the following day to learn that the alarm company was calibrating the building security system and they could not enter the building until that was completed, so please return another day. I returned again and replaced the lock. Ricky stated the trailer rental would be adjusted, but I was not given a receipt. I was told that in order to gain access to the storage that I would need a key card and to please return the next day to pick it up from their main location. I returned the following day, only to be told that the only person that knew how to program the key cards was Ricky and he was gone for the day, so to please come back on Monday. These were not inconsequential trips as I was living in Gower, MO and the rental is in St. Joseph, MO and there were specific days and times I was asked to return and when I did I was told to return another day. After I was finally given a key card I stopped by the storage locker twice to remove some things from storage and had to get a flashlight because the lights had been turned off for all but the front row of the building and the hallways and lockers on my side of the building were completely dark. I then received a late notice for the storage rental, the date for that rental began not on the date I was finally given access, but the original move in date. I came by the office last Thursday to speak with Ricky the manager about my concerns. He was there, but apparently busy and I was told to return on Monday after 10am. This has been an extremely poor experience. I will not hesitate to tell people what an awful experience I had with this location in St. Joseph. I intend to remove my belongings as soon as possible.

I rented a trailer. There were a few problems with the electrical connections that needed to be fixed before I could hook up. Jonathan was very apologetic and fixed the problem as quickly as he could. The staff was friendly and efficient.

Train employees for better customer interaction. One employee (Cheyenne) being loud and using business lingo to sound important. Claimed didn't have the trailer I reserved 5 days earlier and that "Traffic" does this all the time. Do they not verify appointments to equipment? Basically made a scene and got me upset without actually checking. Another employee (Deanna) found the equipment I reserved but unfortunately one of the slides on the car dolly did not function.properly. Also, pointed out pics on app did not match unit (stickers differed).

Don't rent out trucks that are damaged and in need of repair and make sure all employees know not to rent out the damaged trucks. Also make sure trucks are cleaned inside before renting them out.

1. Call center tried to get me to return the trailer in 6 hours but charge me for 24. 2. When I get there guy isn't wearing a mask despite it being a city ordinance 3. The employee was rude.. 4. The employee told me i could not do overnight return and if i did he would charge $20. Then tells me as long as I log in and process the return he would waive the fee. The rental was 29.99. If I had another option I would have never rented there.

This location usually has a good selection of rentable equipment but typically the experience fluctuates every time I visit. Most of the employees are fairly nice but sometimes they can have an attitude. I can deal with that to some degree, but what is worse, every single time I have gotten a trailer in the last year or so, as soon as they walk outside to hook it up they light up a cigarette. So they are trying to hook up the trailer, smoke and talk to you at the same time with a cigarette in their mouth. This last time I rented a trailer, shortly into use I looked at the coupling to notice the knob that locks the trailer to the ball didn't look like it had been tightened at all. It wasn't, it was still backed all the way out. I assume the employee must have been so concerned about their cigarette that they forgot to tighten it. It could have been really dangerous if I did not see that, I'm just glad it happened to me and I double checked it versus if someone less experienced with trailers was renting it and didn't bother to look.

I was quoted much differently than what I received. I feel like I git the "bait and switch" method. $247 dollars for a trip to Overland Park and back. I was told that I traveled 400+ miles when I know for a fact that this is massively over exaggerated. Please make sure when you say the gas tank is full, it is full I put on about 5 MI on the truck I rented and it cost me $15 to fill it up that's almost 8 gallons I hope the truck gets more than 5 Mi with 8 gallons of gas otherwise than that everything was good

Waited in line for 20 minutes to pick up the truck, only one person working the counter. When I picked up the truck the cup holders had some sort of sticky residue in them, after leaving in the truck I noticed it shifted very hard between 2nd and 3rd gear.

I'm not sure who is responsible, but we never got a call the night before so I didn't have the address of the pick up location. Phone lines were so busy I couldn't get through to find my information. Otherwise I was very pleased with the whole rental and found it easier than I expected

Rented a 4x8 enclosed trailer. The safety for the door latch was missing and I did not notice until I was at my destination to pick up a table and chairs. On the way home, a 70 mile trip, the door latch bounced open and I nearly lost the chairs out the back on the highway! Thankfully, a passing driver notified me of the trouble!!!

I loved using the uhaul service in St. Joseph Missouri on the north belt. The staff really helped me in my time of need. They most definitely went above and beyond for me. Without their help and dedication to seeing me succeed I wouldn't be where I am today. They are, without a doubt, the best choice for anyone needing the services they offer. May God continue to pour out His blessings on their lives and keep the uhual staff in His might.

Windshield had not been cleaned. Cigarette ashes in vehicle and wonder if it had been wiped down, etc. Had trouble getting key for vehicle. It was not in box for remote pickup. Had to go inside and they couldn't locate the key. Turns out it was left in the vehicle. So, was probably left in vehicle so they could go clean it, etc. and they never got around to it.

The manager of this location is HORRIBLE! He was supposed to put my storage on auto pay instead he did not and I was charged late fees more than once. Neither hm or the district manager know how to call customer obviously because I called numerous times over months and was told they would call me and they never did. Finally had to call corporate office to get anything done but yet these people keep their jobs! Time for higher management to step in and watch what is really going on in this store and start making changes because it is not good when they treat customers how they do! I moved my things out as quickly as I could because I was tired of the treatment I was receiving

The check in was abit hectic. I had gotten the free 30 day storage. It was abit trying and tiring having to go up and down the steps to unit. I was abit disappointed in the fact that i didn't get credit back for not opening the blankets. I also picked up the truck on half tank and returned it with 3/4 tank. It would have been nice for that and unopened blankets to take care of the $4.00 for going over mileage.
