I had an urgent need to contact a local manager. After a serious of phone calls, always winding up in Texas, or Missouri or Oklahoma, or someplace and always leaving a message that I had an urgent need to talk, I finally learned that my only real option was to drive to the location. Employees at the locations are very helpful, patient and friendly. The uhaul online system and call center (which you automatically get kicked to if no one answers the phone at the individual uhaul location you call) is a mess. I was given wrong information and even though I reserved a pickup online to haul my u-boxes, when I arrived they had my reservation but no pickup available and no indication that I wanted my u-boxes so had to wait hours to get my u-boxes found and fished out of the warehouse and had to tow them with a box truck once they were out.Lauren S.

Terrible experience with loading the ubox in San Diego and terrible experience with the staff in Rapid City. I would not recommend this process to anyone and I would certainly not recommend using any service the Rapid City uhaul location. Multiple clients were even walking out the day I was there for pickup because of the staff problems. The worst part if I was Active Duty military transitioning to a civilian and I chose to use uhaul and pay out of my own pocket in order to ensure a positive experience, I was very mistaken in that.Timothy E.

The U-Haul location is good but due to road construction it is difficult to navigate to get there. You have to be alert to find the access. U-Haul scheduled me for a time when traffic is light to make it safer to enter and exit their business. The staff have been excellent to work with.WALTER K.

We were supposed to get a 10' truck and ended up having to take a 15' truck instead - for the same price. The back of the truck smelled of fish and contaminated all of our belongings.kelly W.
The gal that checked us in was simply great- she was out in the lot helping someone else when she saw us pull up with our trailer- she walked over and said â€œlet me just take care of you out hereâ€ and she did! I have extreme allergies to pets. The truck I had reserved was full of dog/cat hair and the cab smelled. Upon my 15 minute drive home I started getting reactions. I called the dealer and they said they had no other trucks available and to call corporate to exchange. I called Crystal at corporate/scheduling, who directed me to clean the truck myself and keep the receipt and I'd be reimbursed. Crystal also directed me to roadside assistance for an exchange, because I thought cleaning the truck myself or having it detailed was not a good option for my health and time schedule. So I called roadside assistance who said they could not exchange the truck if there was no accident or mechanical issues. I then called other local Uhaul dealers to see if they could help me with an exchange. I found a truck available and a dealer willing to exchange it for mine, but it was over an hour and a half drive away from me (one way), a lot of my time, miles, and time not feeling well from allergic reactions I was getting from the truck. I called Uhaul customer service, I was frustrated as I was needing to finish packing and loading the truck in hopes of driving to my new home the next day. Uhaul customer service recommend I call regional scheduling to get a different truck in hopes of one better accommodating for me and transfered me again to Crystal; who found a truck available for me closer by, said she would give me added .Iles and an extra day on my contract and she'd let the dealer know of my situation so they would have the truck prepped and cleaned well, and offered me a $50 credit for all the inconvenience... Which was only 1/2 done. I arrived at the dealer, it was roughly 3pm, I picked up my truck at 10am. The dealer had not been contacted by Crystal and I had to go through the reservation process again and explain my situation. The agent said he was allergic to dogs and understood and would help me out. I got the truck, pretty exhausted and frustrated at this point and drove off wanting to just get home. On the drive home (45minutes) I noticed hairs flying around the cab and a smell in the cab. And I was again getting allergic reactions. I got home and cleaned out the cab best I could, I also noticed the truck did not have a dolly in the back like it should have. The next morning I drive to the nearest Uhaul, after calling customer service the night before to seek advice on the dolly and to confirm I had additional milage and day on my reservation, because I did not see any on the current one I had for the replacement truck. I picked up the dolly. And loaded the truck... Finally. My schedule was now a day behind. I moved back reservations, hotel and checking into my new apartment, and had to take an additional day off work, and hire a cleaning professional to clean my home as I would not have time to do so myself. I went to pick up my vehicle and trailer from the dealer I'd first picked up my original truck near the end of the day, around 4om. I drive back to my home to pack the last and drive to my others home to stay with her before leaving for Colorado early the next morning, it was dark out and I noticed the trailer lights were not working. The next morning I called roadside assistance. They eventually directed me to drive to another local Uhaul dealer to have the trailer looked at. 2 hours later the trailer lights were operating and I was on the road. I had to drive down the whole way with the windows down and I also wore a mask to help with the dander in the truck and my allergies. Moving is stressful and difficult. I moved a lot as a kid and adult, I'm a military brat and moving and adjusting have been a part of my life, but this move was by far the hardest I've ever had and my experience with Uhaul was extremely disappointing. A $50 credit comes nowhere near compensating me for my time, effort, feeling sick from allergies, the added stress, and my complete dissatisfaction. I'm extremely frustrated with the whole experience.Matthew J.

Customer service was excellent, kind, quick, and professional. I am shocked that you would charge a $25 cleaning fee on a rental that certainly was not clean when I picked it up. Very dusty and dirt all over the driver's cab. The van itself functioned flawlessly. I also didn't like all the "add on" extras (boxes, tape, etc) that already had a quantity at checkout when I never indicated that I wanted them. I had to go back and remove all the unnecessary items. The only reason I wouldn't recommend to a friend... is the cleaning fee for a van that was covered in dirt when I got it. If I were a customer service rep for your company, I'd be asking supervisors to refund the cleaning fee in this instance.ANDREW R.

I was booking online and had a question on the RV storage size Large 13' x 33' x 99'. I wanted to know if this area was large enough for my 33 ft bumper pull travel trailer. I called the location and no one ever answered the phone at the location. I used the chat feature on U-haul and your rep had a difficult time getting an answer. The "manager" told your rep that space was large enough. So we hauled our trailer from our hometown of Watford City, ND to Rapid City, SD only to be told that storage spot is not large enough. The storage unit we reserved wasn't available. We had to take a different one that had stairs. One of our helpers couldn't use stairs. We had to have things moved in order to drive our trailer thru the lot. Both people working did their job but didn't explain or apologize for not having the unit we had reserved.
