Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with the Poway U-Haul, and as it turns out the Mira Mesa U-Haul from many years ago. We wanted to rent a trailer to help move my son. My vehicle was equipped with a trailer hitch and wiring harness installed by the Mira Mesa U-Haul many years ago. When I arrived to pick up the trailer and my vehicle was checked out, all the lights worked except the stop lights. The employee told me it was likely the converter in the wiring harness and offered to sell me a new one, but could not install it. So I cancelled my rental trailer, bought the U-Haul wiring harness, went home, watched a U-Tube video on installation, and realized the employee sold me the wrong wiring kit (for other makes of vehicles), on watching the video, I realized the one on my vehicle already, was not the right one. I was so frustrated with U-Haul (everyone helping with the move had been standing around for two hours). I returned the wiring harness (the employee admitted he knew it was the wrong harness but it was all they had and that I could have modified it to work), and rented a box van from Home Depot, who was 10 times easier to work with. To make things worse, even though I cancelled the rental of the trailer, U-Haul charged me for the rental of the trailer. So I call U-Haul about this charge, after 10 minutes on hold I speak with an employee who transfers me to someone else in customer service, after 35 minutes on hold, my call was taken and the rep indicated he would put in for a refund, which was later approved. I later researched why the wiring harness installed by the Mira Mesa U-Haul years ago did not work for taillights, but worked for everything else. It was not the converter box (which in hindsight makes sense since all the other features worked), It was improperly wired. I have not towed anything since the harness was installed years ago, which is good because I would not have had brake lights. Bottom line, U-Haul twice knowingly sold my family the wrong wiring harness, and improperly installed the part the first time, then charged me for a trailer they would allow me to rent because their improperly wired harness did not work, and while the customer service rep was pleasant, waiting on hold for 35 minutes is a bit long. Like I said, not a good experience and I will take my business elsewhere. My recommendations: (1) stock more parts, (2) sell/install only the correct parts (or explain to the customer why you can't and give them the choice of going elsewhere); (3) don't charge customers for rentals which do not occur (goes without saying); and (4) better staff your customer service center so callers don't have to wait on hold for such a long time.GARY R.

The mileage was incorrectly marked in the contract. The Gas tank was supposed to be full, but it was only 1/2 full. Took me an hour to talk to support to make sure they will not charge me. Documentation / contract did not match with truck rented. Will NOT recommend this location to anybody. I was over charged for mileage that I didn't driver the car. Big Scam for $19.50 / day car but cost me almost $80 for 2 hours of rental car. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION or using UHAL TO ANYBODY.Jahangir J.

It took a while to actually get to leave with the vehicle. They just handed the keys and said go there for the vehicle. Did not say â€œtake a look around to notate any damage and MAKE SURE THE ODOMETER IS CORRECTâ€. Because although they check you in and say this is what the odometer is, they must not put that number in the computer. I drove from the location to Mary Lane Drive near SDSU (19 miles) to my house Ralston Circle (20 miles) to this location (13 miles) yet was told I drove 106 miles (about double what I actually drove). I never got a receipt and only this email with a review. Also was charged for 80 + miles of what I told the guy at first but only did 40 miles and was charged the the same amount as if I drove 80 miles. I do not have a receipt to review it at all and they told me to leave and they would handle it for me. The location was changed on us causing us to spend an additional $50 on miles/gas and adding 30 minute commute due to the traffic to that new location. There is no parking at the site and we still waited an additional hour to even be helped to get the truck, despite requesting contactless pickup. I made the booking online and they still made me redo all of the questions because they did not have the paperwork in order. We tried calling to see other options and got put on hold for an hour too. In the future we may need to find other options as this did not feel like a positive experience or good service.Ian F.

The â€œreservationâ€ process is a JOKE. I made an in-person reservation, received a receipt, then got a text saying Uhaul has been trying to reach me (they had not) and I called and waited on hold 15 minutes to be told there were no trailers available. Why let me make a reservation, then make me call in to tell me what I â€œreservedâ€ was not available? I will try my best to NEVER use Uhaul again if possible. Super disappointing and shady business practices. I was forced to take a round trip rental when I didn't want it. I rented a trailer that ended up blowing out a tire. Not a big deal until I tried to utilize the infamous "roadside assistance". What a pathetic joke! Online attempts yielded Error 404 - page does not exist. After nearly 4 hours on hold on the phone we finally broke through the gauntlet and spoke to a person. Nearly 3 hours later a repairman arrived to change the tire. The reason the pick up location deserved such low marks is because they wouldn't answer their phone to help. I sent a relative to the store just to force them to talk to me on the phone - but the manager wasn't available-go figure!!! This is only part of the story. I'm not going to go into detail about trying to purchase a tire myself, nor about the local UHaul in Visalia being completely unwilling to help. These losers have stolen enough of my time. I would rather subject myself to root canal than deal with these sphincters ever again.David P.
You could make sure that the equipment is safely attached to the vehicle, before it Leave ur property. I rented a car dolly to move my car,which over heated on the way to work. We towed the dolly to Escondido where the car was. Little did I know that the ball had no nut or pressure washer on the ball that attached to the bumper of our truck and held the dolly to the truck bumper. So when we attempted to push the car onto the dolly,the tongue of the dolly,which was supposed to be to attached to the ball popped up and damaged the tailgate of the truck. I immediately called roadside assistance,who showed up more than 90 minutes later.(this trip started at 4:30 or 5 pm it was now close to 10 pm) Roadside assistance took the dolly back to poway.the next day I went to U-Haul in Poway to see what could done about the night before not being able to tow my car because of the dolly not being hooked up properly and safely. I was told by U-Haul employee JOSE, that there was nothing they could do for me,because once I left their property, it was my responsibility,and as far as he was concerned,it was my problem I didn't tow my car. He said our business was done and they would not be doing business with me anymore.and that I should leave the property. I must tell you also the car I was to tow, It got towed the morning I went to U-Haul To see what could be done about the night before,when roadside assistance took the dolly and left me without a replacement dolly,(or a car). I was contacted once by U-Haul,and haven't heard anything regarding this problem. P.S if anyone who happen to read this post have a good car for sale at a reasonable price,maybe U-Haul could pass that info to me. Thanks for listeningIvory E.

I called for three days and nobody would answer my call so I finally drove to Poway to check on my storage unit. On my moving out day Everything appeared to be fine except when my daughter found mouse droppings on my plastic tubs and on the floor of the unit. How long did this mouse live there before someone put a mouse trap in the unit? The worse thing is that the dead mouse is in one of my boxes! I took a picture of it if you need proof. I called the health department on my experience with your storage unit. It was documented. Since you have so many units why aren't the mouse traps or mouse poison checked on a regular basis? I have rented units for years and this has NEVER happened before. I have to throw out some items because I don't know how long the mouse lived in my unit. The unit should be prorated for July and I should receive a refund for the days that I did not use it. I am just glad I moved out my things when I did. I made an online reservation for a 7x20x6 Vanbody, but when I arrived to the storage facility, the manager said that he could not find my reservation in the system. He showed me a much smaller 7x14 unit and said that was all he had or I could try searching for a self-storage facility in the area. I drove all the way from Maryland only to be told "good luck". In the end, the manager was able to rent me a 7x26 storage unit only because a reservation was canceled at the last minute. I had the whole move and storage planned weeks in advance and am frustrated with the nonchalant response of the manager. I love the facility however the parking is very minimal. I went at night so had no issue but I can't imagine trying to unload in the daytime. Thank you, thank you. I came to the uhaul September of 2017 after being put out by an ex. The people there were super helpful, empathetic and understanding. I got a unit that day with no problem. Uhaul Poway really saved me that day. Keep in mind this was a Sunday when everything else was closed. There's an older white gentlemen there with glasses that rented me the storage.
